I happen to be a very skilled writer and speller. In fact, I haven't met one person in real life who spells as good as me. Same thing with grammar, except that English teachers still know more than me.

I have written over 500 pages of stories/scripts so far, although the vast majority of that was done between the ages of 16-17.

How come English teachers always seem to know so much? Creepy...

It was the middle of December, and it had snowed the day before. Me and my friend were having a snowball fight in front of his house, when he had to go inside to
use the bathroom. It's night time mind you. So I was standing in front of his house, when this black thing appeared on his roof. It wasn't so much a humanoid figure, but more of a stick figure. Before I continue, you should know the layout of the house.

His house was right in front of mine. A small wooden fence gave me a small yard, and he had a really big yard.

Anyhow, when I saw the Shadow, it hopped off of the roof, and landed about six feet in front of me. I am scared out of my mind right now, since it is so close to me. We stared at each other for a minute or two, and then it started running along the side of my friend's house. When I'm(or most people for that matter) scared, common sense seems to disappear. I followed.

Although it's night, the streetlights let me faintly see him. When I rounded the back of my friend's house, I couldn't see it anymore. I took another step forward, and my floodlight clicks on. There it is, right in front of me. I tried to scream, but I was scared silly. It then started muttering something, and then it took a few steps back. It then seemed to turn around and start running again.

Again, common sense is nowhere to be found, and I started running. I took a few steps when I noticed a shiny surface in front of me. I stopped short, and just looked right at the floor. It was a large ice slick. The thing had almost made me break my neck. I looked back up at it, but it was gone.

It didn't directly try to hurt me, but yeah, I was spooked. At least I haven't seen it again. Oh, and it was about 7 feet tall also.

Not about a shadow creature but about a couple of months ago. My mum hears my brother scream out, and all my family (except me, I never heard anything) rushes there to check it out. My mum goes there and asks my brother what happened. He's just sitting there looking blankly and says nothing. My mum prays (family is religious) and everyone goes to bed.

The next day I see a hole in his bedroom wall, but think nothing of it, as it could've been there before or something. However on Thursday the rest of the family notice it. My mum tells me a holes come through his wall. I say yeah I saw i a couple of days ago, but apparently no-one else saw it until that day. And it's about the size of a small plate. My mum asks my bro again why he screamed that night, and he says he felt trapped and that he couldn't move, but he doesn't know anything about the hole in the wall. Around this time my dad's having dreams where he wakes sweating and panting, and my family gets freaked and have a lengthy prayer session. Nothing's really happened since then, though.

Oh yeah and apparently when my mum was back in Ghana, she woke up one night to have a figure resembling her maid trying to suffocate her. She struggled and eventually manages to break the hold, then it vanishes. After that she goes off to look for her maid because she thought she was the person trying to suffocate her, and she finds her maid sitting bolt upright on her bedroom floor just staring at my mum.

My mum was good friends with the maid though, so she wasn't sure what to think. She says there are a loads of witches and diviners in Ghana though.

I think I've had an experience with one of these guys. It may have been a dream but it was too fluent for a dream. I was awake late one night and looked out my window before I shut it. What I at first thought was a tree branch moved. It was perched kind of like a monkey would be on a fence. With it's hands in between it's feet. Then it fell and I heard the galloping of it away.

Maybe they reproduce? It was only about 2 feet.

I dont know about "Shadow Creatures" but regardless i had an experience with SOMETHING. Once i think about a year ago maybe i was home-alone watching TV. So im sitting there everything is great then the TV goes black. So i think i sat on the remote or something of that sort but the remote is over on the coffee table to my right. So i press the power button and the TV doesnt do anything. So then i walk up to the TV and i am leaning over to press power. Then i thought i saw something behind me in the TV(Its off so it was acting like a mirror if sorts.) so i turn around. Nothing there. So i think to myself "Damn it Adrian LAY OFF THE STEPHEN KING!!!" But then i lean over once again and press power. Nothing happens. By this point im pissed cause i thought the TV had broken or somethin. So i stood up and behind me was a tall TALL figure with horns sort of..Curled around and up. So i twirl around naturally, and there is nothing there. SO then im pretty damn scared so i go to bathroom to get a glass of water.(old refrigerator at that time with no water/ice feature) So while in the bathroom i look in the mirror and its there again and it appears to be sort of embracing me. Like with its arms crossed down my chest. So i reach up around my head(around where its neck would have been) and feel nothing. Look back in the mirror and see nothing. BY that point i thought i was going crazy. So i rush over to my next-door neighbors house and ask if i can stay there. Being great folks they say sure because they had known me all of my 16 years. So i stayed there and when i came back in the house when my mom got home.

Ok so my mom gets home and i head back and think nothing of it. Thought maybe i had been hallucinating or something. So i go into the living room and turn on my X-BOX and as im reaching towards the controller this feeling of...i dont know how to describe it. Like a combination of dread,fear,and sorrow. So i look up (the X-BOX is right under the TV on a shelf i guess you could say) and low and behold there he is again. So at that point i blacked out. Next thing i know (seemed like i just blinked and was somewhere else) im sitting at a park bench. Then my mom drives up in the car and drives me home. Shes freaked out. I asked her what happened. She says i suddenly went all blank and started screaming expletives and satanic crap (quote from what my mom says i said "Im gonna kill him...IM GONNA ****ING KILL HIM! **** HIM then a bunch of mumbling she says was "evil and satanic" even though she couldnt understand what i(?) was saying. She then says i stopped and screamed "**** JESUS" repeatedly then ran out of the house and to the park nearby. I(?) had apparently been slamming my head against something hard repeatedly because i had cuts and bruises all over. End up with 3 stitches and a broken jawbone. and i STILL dont remeber anything past turning on my X-BOX. Creeps me out to this day.

Just to start this off: I've seen and experienced many ghosts. So many times that I'm not really afraid of them anymore. My aunt's house has a big graveyard right in the backyard. When I saw this creature, I thought it was the ghost of a black man named Pedro who used to live in the attic of my aunt's house. I believed that was all this was until I read this at the site posted earlier in the topic: Type C - Appear in human form and some may be seen wearing a hat. They typically appear up to 8 feet in height.

First, I saw the creature on the couch at my aunt's...I stared at it for about thirty seconds 'till it moved.

Then I saw it on the end of my bed, sitting there. It was looking at me, but I didn't show any fear 'cause I thought it was the ghost of that black guy. It looked like it was wearing a hat.

Then, one night, my uncle and I heard a knock at the door. My uncle checked, but nobody was there. When I went to bed that night, I started hearing knocking on the walls, and I'd feel something hitting the bed by my feet. The wind would pick up, too. The knocking and banging on the bed would last about five minutes, and happen every hour or so. The occurrences lessened in frequency, but it would happen every time I slept at my aunt's. I don't know if it got bored or what 'cause I wasn't scared of it at all. The occurrences have stopped completely, but they happened for several nights before they stopped.

You know what's strange, I was just now thinking about "shadow people" right before I saw this topic. But the kind I'm referring to are the ones that appear in the corner of your eye for a split second. This has happened to me maybe once or twice as a kid(Back then, I thought they were ninjas). Anyways, this topic is interesting. I'm only on page 4 or so, so back to reading.

So. After the shadow creature fallowed me all the way a cross the state of Minnesota and found it's way into my room, I just freaked and took my family members and left my house. It's been about two weeks since then. Two nights ago, I finally got the courage to go back to my home. I went around and searched everything and there was nothing wrong, except, the door to the hallway to my room is sealed shut. I just can't get in. I could probably smash it down with a hammer or an axe, but maybe I should just let it stay that way. I'm just going to ignore the noises down there that I here every once and a while, and just forget about the fact that all my prized possessions are down there getting who knows what done to it.

I've seen Shadow's too.

One day, i was sleeping. I suddenly woke up, i normally wake up from time to time to move to the other side of the bed and whatnot. Anyways i did, i grabbed my sheats, because when i woke up my bed sheats where all on the floor in front of the bed.

Well, i crawled to the edge and grabbed them, suddenly i look up foward, and at the end of my room, in the rightmost corner there was what seemed to be a humanoid shadow, right behind my bike.

It was standing straight, its arms crossed like an x, and its head bowed down. I couldnt tell any other physical traits since it was pretty much jet black.

I freaked out pretty much, but i decided to keep looking, the amazing thing is i sleep with a nightlight, and the nightlight was like 3 feet away from it to the left, and the damn light didnt reveal anything, didnt shine off of it, nothing.

I watched it for a while, has it raised its head, i then got really scared and said "In the name of God i reprend you" (spell?)

Im an atheist lol, but I was desperate and scared lol so i did it, i said it like 5 times and the shadow still wouldnt go away, so i grew tired of it, accepted whatever fate i had and covered myself in the sheats, and a big blanket i got :D

Anyways after this incident i once semi-woke up in the night, that night i didnt bother to turn the night lamp on. Anyways i kind of woke up, i had my eyes closed and was pretty mkuch asleep except i could hear and talk, so i heard some footsteps, i could hear them walking from near my door to a window in the room, then the window was opened, i heard has it opened it.

I thought it was mom, so i said "Mom..... zzzz..... dont open the window dammet.... mom?...." and went back to sleep.

The next day i wake up and asked mom, and she said she didnt wake up that night, my lil sis was at dads house and dad lives a town away from us, and i personally lock the doors every night and stuff.

Also some days after that i talked with a friend of mine that says he knows alot about that stuff and all. Well i kinda got inspired or something and one day when my mom and my lil sis werent home like at 2 am i turned off all the lights and entered my room, then seated on the floor and called it out.

Well, nothing came out, so i decided to leave the room, but when i got up and was walking towards the door i felt something come up from my back so i immediately ran and turned on the light and opened the door and ran out lol. I've tried that same thing like 2 more times but i dont feel anything at all now, i've come to think it has left the house because of my randomness lol.

I've had other incidents but the recent one was more like a ghost than a shadow, so i wont bother to type it.

I've seen them before, too. It was years ago, one night when I was driving home I kept seeing what looked like somebody walking down the street. Then they'd go behind a streetlight or something like that and just not come out from the other side. It was maybe 3 in the morning so there was almost nobody else out. At first I didn't think anything of it I just figured I saw it wrong but it kept happening and I would look right at it and know it wasn't my eyes playing tricks on me. I was getting really freaked out and one time it walked right under a streetlight and it was still all shadowy like there wasn't any light on it. At that point I had about an hour of driving left before I was going to get home and I was crying and looking for somewhere that was open to stop at for a while, but nothing was open so finally I just pulled over and tried to calm down. I was sitting there watching out the windows all paranoid that it would happen again and in the rear-view mirror I saw something move in the backseat. I turned around and saw it was still there. I didn't know what to do, I kept looking at it for 20 seconds or so and then it was gone. I didn't see anything else for the rest of the night.

The next day I was going somewhere and I was thinking about what happened the night before. I started talking myself into believing I was just seeing things and it was no big deal, you know how people do that. So I was driving by this field and thinking I had overreacted the night before and all of a sudden one of the shadow people ran out in front of my car and disappeared right before the headlight would have hit it. It scared the crap out of me, more so because it happened in the middle of the day and I got a very good look at it and I couldn't talk myself into believing I was just seeing things that time.

I might have been on the losing side, but I'm still not convinced it was the wrong side.

When I was about 3 or 4 years old, I woke up in the middle of the night and I looked at the closet (I slept a foot or two away from it, and it was open), and saw two green-yellow, glowing eyes staring back at me. I jumped up and started screaming my head off and I ran across the hall and started banging on the my parents' bedroom door. I turned around real quick and saw the thing coming for me, just those eyes, no bodily shape, just those glowing eyes. I turned back to teh door and started screaming and banging harder and my dad came to the door and asked me what was wrong, and then I turned around and pointed and the thing was gone.


That's all I can remember. I may have made this all up over the years. But that 'memory' is stuck in my head. I am starting to become skeptical of its authenticity, though. I may have been seeing things, hallucinating. The fear of an object like that, or even teh recognition of its existence had never entered my mind before then, though, so I don't know what would have brought about just seeing this thing. But now I always make sure the closet door in the room I am sleeping in is shut. Either way, I am pretty sure I didn't make it up.

I have a sword now, and it's always within grasp, so I won't have too much to fear...

I just finished reading. I hate to say this, I noticed 2 or 3 that seem a little fishy. I'm thinking a couple of these stories that took place outside might have just been rowdy people, or even a potential kidnapper. And to the person who had the story about their brother holding the door shut because there was something evil behind it - I think your brother and one of his friends was playing a joke on you. Unless the gashes of his were actually deep cuts in his flesh, and he still has scars from it, it was most likely an elaborate hoax. People think they see alot of things when it's pitch dark in a room. That doesn't mean these aren't interesting to read, though. And I'm not accusing all of them of being fake. In fact, just now while I was reading this I idly looked at the ad banner to the right of the posts(which was all black when I looked at it) and for a brief second I could have sworn I saw a pale, masklike face in the monitor's reflection that I know wasn't mine staring back at me and smiling mischievously. The fact that it just turned 6am and it's cold in here doesn't exactly help. Thanks alot, guys.

This topic hits home in a way that freaks me out to no end. I've had mutiple experiences with these "Shadow Creatures" as you have dubbed them. I had always brushed them off as a dream, as I always saw them when I was half-asleep and they would usually end up fading off into the shadows after a few minutes. I'll descirbe a few of the encounters I've had, including the very first one.

Alright, the first tme I saw one was way back when I was in 6th grade (Sophmore in college now). I awoke for no real reason in my room. I can't say I remember chanting, but without any reason, I lifted my head from my pillow and stared at the window.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

A shadowy figure pounded on the other side of my window, trying to gain entrance to my room. I froze, just staring at the figure as it's body shifted back and forth. I thought it looked as if it was trying to see into my room. It stayed for only a minute before running off toward the street I assume. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much that night, though eventually my sheer exhustion drove my to sleep for about a half an hour. I then awoke again, to see something run through my hallway and toward the front door. I didn't hear the front door open, or any door for that matter. When morning came, no one was in the house and my dad's and sister's rooms were securly closed.


The rest of my experiences with these things have happened in my current residence. I live in n apartment about 7 miles away from my dad's old house. Occasionally, (maybe once a month or so) I awake in a cold sweat and my eyes wander around the room before settling on a shadowy figure. As soon as I spot it it leaps toward me. Everytime I panic and flip on my lights (The switch is right next to my bed) and the thing vanishes. I then end up staying up for a couple hours watching tv before finally falling back asleep. For a while I would leave the lights on, but now I can usually convince myself to turn them back off.

Have any of you who experienced these things notice waking up at around 3 am?

My sister's friend says she woke up some nights (I heard of this about a year back and this topic and these stories remind me of it) and sees a black figure wearing a cloak.

One night she says the same thing happened but this time after a while, with supernatural speed it came around to the other side of the bed and sat on it making a huge bumping motion that woke her completely up turning on the lights. By then it was gone.

She was then in a scared frenzy and called my sister on the phone.

She also says this always happens around 3 am.

On Wednesday November 3rd, I saw something moving in my mirror. It was dark and it had a human figure, about 5-5 ½ feet tall, it didnt seem to have hair, and it flailed its arms, slowly. Then I saw it again, Thursday the 4th. I didnt pay much attention to it, Im easily scared, and I often see things that arent there, like when I saw 6th sence and thought I saw someone walk into my parents bedroom, red shirt, blue Jeans.

Ive read all posts; this is interesting. I have had a few experiences with these things, but none as intense as some posts.
I asked my friend about this, who is pratically an expert on anything paranormal, and i turns out that she happend to have about 4 pages of notes on "shadow creatures"
Most of it is obscure stuff to me, but some of it is interesting; shadows (as she calls them) seem to come in two varieties; black and sort of a greyish white. They are a lot like people; no two seem to be alike. From what Ive seen/heard, they can be many shapes/sizes.
I think i read earlier about how when people have hear shadows scream, it sounds like many screams in unison. My friend confirmed that, but also mentioned that they can adopt different languages, which would explain the english and latin speaking ones.
According to her, shadows are usually two weak to harm or kill people, and the ones that are powerful enough to chose not to for some reason. Interestingly, she says that they will kill animals for food. Also, she says that physical damage wont kill them, only incapacitate them at best. The only way for a shadow to be killed is through a sort of energy exchange, or something along those lines. Like i said, the notes were mostly obscure to me.
I dont know how valid this information is, but I hope it helps someone understand what these shadows are.
