Ok... my completely illogical story.

It's 2000 something or other. I'm 13/14 and I'm sitting in the computer room of my step father's grandmother's house. My dog is fast asleep next to me... Next thign I know, she's standing at the window barking her ass off at something. I got majorily freaked out... my step dad took a 10 pump bbgun, and put a different type of bb in it... a type that expands and hurts more. He stood on the deck, with the light on aiming it at the woods. We passed it off as a coyote and all went to bed. During the night, the dog(she slept in her carrying cage) was whimpering. We tried to take her out back to do her stuff, but she wouldn't go outside. I passed it off as a coyote until now... thanks guys.

Here are some stories my friend sent me of some of his past experiences with weird stuff.

Well, the house that my mom lives in now used to be my grandparents' house, and before them, it used to belong to this older couple and when I was 4, when my mom and dad got married, I was there with my grandparents, and I had to go sleep in this room...

Now, nothing is particularly scary about this room, except for the fact that right out the window is a small forest, and a wood shed. And as I was sleeping, I woke up and heard something that sounded like chopping wood...

So, I got out of bed, and pulled back the curtain, and saw a big man with an axe chopping wood. I thought it was my grandpa, so I put the curtain back, and then went outside..

When I got out there, nothing was there, except for the axe. So, I picked it up, and brought it in with me. Then I put it next to my bed and went back to sleep. The next morning, my grandma came in to wake me up and found the axe. She woke me up and asked me where I found it.

I told her about the man who I thought was my grandpa, and she said that grandpa was inside sleeping all night, whic he was, because I had to unlock the door to get out.

And then we looked down at the axe, and it looked like there was something written on it under a bunch of caked on dirt. So we brought it out to the kitchen, and she washed it off, and there was something engraved on it, and I didn't get to see it, but as soon as she saw it, she got pale, and put it away somewhere.

Then the next night, I woke up and saw the same thing, except this time, I tapped on the window. The man kept chopping, and didn't turn around. But this time, a small, chubby woman wearing a dress came in front of the window holding a butcher knife and she slashed at the window, slicing the screen. I screamed, fell backwards and passed out for the rest of the night.

Then, in the morning, my grandma came to wake me up again, and I told her what I saw, and I described the people to her, and she told me the people were the ones who had owned the house before, and that they had died a long while ago. Then we looked out the window, and the screen was sliced down the middle, the glass had a cut in it, and then when we went outside to fix the screen, we found the butcher knife on the ground.

One night, shortly after my brother was born, I woke up in the middle of the night, to see my mom carrying my brother upstairs. I asked, "Where are you going?" And she said, "I'm just going upstairs with your brother." So I thought nothing of it, and time meant nothing to me, I was a kid. So I went upstairs, and no one was up there, and all the lights and everything were off. I was scared out of my mind, so I just sat there on the couch, curled in a ball crying until my dad came home. (He worked nights.) And he asked me what was wrong, and I told him, and he assured me that nothing was wrong, so I just went back to sleep on the couch.


So you guys aren't the only ones who have things happening to you...

i have had a near death exprience TWO times with a "shawdo creatrue" and i have reason to believe that it was the same one both times

Frist one

I am awoken at about 11 30 pm from my older brother (19 at the time) screaming and yelling, in surprise i ran downstairs to find my brother holding the basement door shut (his room is down there) with deep gashes on his hands and arms. I started to painc and grabbed the largest kinfe in our kitchen (the basement door is there) and thrusted it into the door as instructed by my brother. Now this is the part that made me piss my self, something started to come though that hole in the door like blood but it wasent... blood it was thicker and then a deep odd voice on the other side of the door said something that i didnt understand i believe it was latin because the only thing i understode was necro witch means death, it was followed by a horrible scream.... After that it went away and my brother cleaned him self up and explained how something about 7 feet tall attacked him when we has sleeping, i believed him only because of the deep gashes in his arms

secound one

A few years after the frist encounter (now living in another house) i was at a friends house, we where in his rooming trying to get asleep when the room felt very unconfertable and sad. Thats when i saw it, it just came out of no where it was about 7 feet it was kinda skinny, its fingers where pointy almost like claws, it was also dark very dark so dark, it look plain almost if you can say that. i stared at it for about a minute, then it lifted up its hand to show a scar........Thats when it hit me, it was the thing that attacked my brother and the scar was from the knife i put into the door. At that moment my friend woke up and started to scream. At the point i jumped up from the room and ran my ass off yelling "HAULE ASS BRYAN" i was followed by bryan... and unfortunaly the shawdo thing. I quickly ran into the living room as i looked behind i saw that bryan had locked him self into the bathroom and that the monster was after me..... at this point i grabbed a nice 6" knife off the top of the T.V (they had it for display) and i tossed it at the monster.... it struck it right in the arm. It looked down at its arm and let out a horrible scream. At that same point my friends dog leaped at the monster (it didnt growl or bark in fact i didnt even know it was there) it grabbed on to the creatures arm just below where the knife was sticking out. The monster then slashed the dog (missty) on the back of its head with its free arm and giving the dog a bad case of rigga mortise (the dog tensed up and didnt let go of its arm) Now from all the screaming and such my friends dad woke up baseball bat and all, he ran into the room and yelled at me to run. So i picked up a chair and tossed it right though there slidding glass window that would bring me to their belcony. I ran though the smashed door onto the belcony the shadow creater followed me and i lept off it (it was not high) i landed on my side breaking my arm. I rolled over to see the creature standing over me, my friends dad at that point had found with ol' 9 mm and opend fire at the shawdo thing, it let out a horrible cry and darted off (it moved so fast it was amazing) into the woods behind there house. After that we called the police... i dont think they toke us serously

BTW when it ran off the missty was stilling attached to its arm!

NOTE- im not correcting spelling or anything because im to damn lazy!

I had one........it took place in a palace in an underground city. At the very bottom, I saw a horrible shadow creature, it talked to me and said it was going to rule the world, but with a few Hammers and Jumps, I banished it. Thus, I saved the world from eternal darkness....

Seriously now, I am SO glad I haven't had any scary experiences like the ones you guys have. I'm a Christian, so I guess that explains it. I've heard somewhere that a hearty scare is good for the heart, but you guys have just too many dang scares.

BTW, I'm glad it's morning, 'cause if it were at night when I would have read this, I would've been officially freaked out, and the music I'm listening to wouldn't have helped the situation. I'm so lucky to not have paranormal things happen to me!

It may seem stupid to you guys, with my bad memory, but its the memory that scares me. I could have had tons of experiances with this thing/things, just I cant remember.

I just read this now, and I live in the basement of my house. I always run ipstaris, and the staris is right next to the storage room. And whenever I run up the stairs, as I usually do as I'm always in ahurry, I always think theres somthing in that room.
Now, thanks to you nice discription of basements, I wish I was just killed now.

okay, i'm gonna share my experiences with these things. first, i'm 26, from central NC, and a practicing witch since i was eleven years old. the first time i ever noticed one of these shades, i was around three. what i saw of it looked like the shadow of one of the trees around my house moving and bunching up [if that makes sense]. i was frozen, staring at it. after a minute or so, i heard what sounded like several voices screaming to run. it was deafening, like being at a concert, only the source seemed to come from just behind my eardrums.

i'd see them off and on in the distance, taking the forms of animals or almost featureless humans, for almost fifteen years before i had a chance to really get up close to one. i was doing my monthly purification ritual, which tends to draw out the locals to begin with>_< i was halfway done when it suddenly got very quiet, very fast. i felt a presence that seemed halfway hostile... it's a hard feeling to put into words. my dog was barking like mad at this thing, but i didn't feel like he was in danger. my protection field was around five feet out from me at the time, and i really felt it get mad when it tried to cross it. it tried to wrap around the field [and, consequently, me], so i began trying to make the field jagged in the hopes of damaging the shade. this went on for what felt like forever, with me expending way too much energy for my own good. it eventually backed off and left, and i never felt that particular one again to this day.

i can't figure out if the shade was drawn to me because it wanted to feed on my mana, or if it saw it as a threat. i've been working on a few 'tests' i want to try if i ever see one for any great length of time again.

lol! if it makes you feel any better, my basement appears to be a similar layout as yours: we've got a spare bedroom that we've turned into a storage room beside the stairs. So you're not alone in the fear department. :(

Well, it doesnt make me feel any better. I'm like huddling to my bed, witch it really just a matress on the floor. We just moved into this house last month belive it or not. Uh man, I do NOT want to leave my room. I think I'll take the window out for now on.

I really do hate coming to this board, becase somthing always freaks me out, and now its kinda my fault. But I'm still baling it on the topic creator.

Yeah, it really deos suck that I'm afraid of my own memory. SOmetimes it twists the truth on me. Usually just somthing small like for the 1st half of this year, I thought it was 2005.

One time, before we got our basement furnished (so it was just... random empty boxes on the concrete floor), I was chilling in our living room and heard noises from the basement.

Now I was 11 years old at the time, and that scared the **** out of me. I couldn't move. I couldn't even get the nerve to run upstairs because that'd require me passing past the basement door, and I was afraid whatever was down there might decide to come after me.

So the noises continued for a bit, and eventually I mustered up the courage to go look at what it was. It was just my cat, batting around boxes which made the noises on the concrete floor.

Moral of the story: You gotta chill with these things. If something seems strange, check it out. Either everything will be normal and you'll be fine.... and if things aren't normal, well, wtf can you do, eh? ;)

look, you said in your story (which I....really barely skimmed, just read the last few lines) that you stayed up during the night alleviate your fears, right?

My problem is that I haven't been able to sleep well for a bit, because I'm afraid of any number of things. So I'm trying to sleep, I'm scared, I open my eyes, everything's fine, I try to sleep again, open eyes, everything's fine, and this continues until I fall asleep.

Same problem the next night, and the night after that. Eventually you realize - I'm always afraid and nothing happens. Why am I so worried? Just need a positive state of mind or something :(

By the way:

(1) Whereabouts in Canada are you? (Ottawa born & mostly raised right here)

(2) Tonight's the final total solar eclipse until 2007 (they've happened 4 times in the past 18 months, but won't happen for at least another 2 years). One of the main features is that the moon gets a bright orange glow... just thought you should know!

1) In Ontario. I live pritty close to Niagra Falls. But I wont tell you my home city, as its small enough for who knows to track me down. (I'm referring to stalkers, not shadows.)

2) ...Every post just makes me feel so much better about this. </sarcasim>

Damn, I keep playing music to calm me down, and I wear headphones. Now I can hear fotsteps abouve me. But I know its just my mom/Step-dad or one of my brothers. But now I keep looking at my open door. I'm still too freaked to go over there and shut it. As the furnice is on, and its loud.
Sounds stupid I know, but to get to my room, you need to go into the basement, and thought a glass door, that leads to a small hallway that has the furnace in it, then to my door.
I just keep loking over my shoulder, as I know I cant hear much with the headphones on. And what if somthing sneaks up on me?

I had another of those shadow creature thing happen again.

It was late.3:30 to be exact.My friend woke me up.He said he was "Hearing some noises" that I should "check out".I got up and investigated.The shadow creature from my last story appeared again.He said "Still not scared?" and he raised his arm and slashed my arm verticly.I screamed in pain.My friend came running with his 9MM.

My friend
"What the hell was that?"

Me
"I don't know.Remember last time with the shadow thing I walked up to?"

My friend
"Yea."

Me
"He knows where I was and came here,said"You scared yet" and slashed my arm."

I then showed him my slash,wich I now have stiches for.Thank it didn't do anything else.

majo jun, that really sounds like it tried to attack you. You say you are a witch? I don't know much about witches...what all are you capable of? Just asking because if you are powerful and you know your stuff, perhaps you could lure it back somehow or, if you feel bold and brave, you could possibly track it down. That would take balls though, and I'm not sure if I could do it.

I have studied druidism somewhat, and I want to believe the simple forcefield or whatever it is can keep evil away, but from how I understood it, it only sounds like it works against someone's harmful wishes toward you. But then I could be completely wrong...

Sorry I didn't mean to turn this into something like that. I was wondering if you could try to study it somehow. You say it tried to wrap itself around your energy field. It sounds like a real entity, and from my experience and others, it sounds (if this is, indeed, the same thing we're talking about here) almost physical. Or, physical if it wants to be, but then ethereal, or something at other times. All I know is that it seemed physical to me.

And what all do you know, such as spells and stuff? Defensive spells or offensive. Just curious, because I somewhat believe in that stuff, although I'm not sure if it's real or not...and if you battled it or something, or could take pictures so we have real conclusive evidence.

I'll continue doing research.

In a way, although I believe it is dangerous, I'm not sure if I want them to become extinct. I mean once something is gone, it's gone forever. As long as they don't get too many, it should stay in existence, I think...
