Numerology
What does numerology tell me? Numerology tells you about what type of person you are, your good points and your bad points. Your birthdate and name can tell you your life path - how you are going to achieve/accomplish your destiny, your life purpose - why are you here? and your karmic lesson - what lesson you will learn in this life.
However knowing the importance of numbers can help you with other divination tools such as the tarot.
This page will be split into sections. The first section is how to find all these numbers from your name and birthdate etc. The second section is the general meaning of the numbers. The third section will be the specific meanings of the numbers relating to e.g your life path. Got that? Good, cause I can't explain it any better lol :D If you have any troubles, just contact me and I'll put my maths skills to work...
NB: please note that this isn't to strictly tell you what your life is and isn't. We can never really tell what will happen. This is just a guideline to your life

Finding your personal numbers
Finding the energy of a family name: Using the numerology chart above simply add the numbers together- e.g. ELIJAH WOOD ~ W=5 O=6 =O=6 D=4 and 5+6+6+4 = 21
BUT because that is a compound number (i.e not the number 11 or 22) you must add the 2 numbers together to get a root number (1 to 9)- 2+1 = 3
Now look up the number in section 2...
Finding your soul urge (what you long for subconsciously): This will be the sum of the total number of vowels in your full name- e.g. ELIJAH JORDAN WOOD ~ Vowels present are E, I, A and O. Using the chart above it'll be 5+9+1 +6+1 +6+6 = 36 = 9
Now look that up in section 3...
Finding your personality number (how you are seen by others): This will be the sum of all the consonants in your name- e.g. ELIJAH JORDAN WOOD ~ Consonants present are L, J, H, R, D and N. Using the chart it will be 3+1+8 +1+9+4+5 5+4 = 40 = 4
Now look that up in section 3 as well...
Finding your expression number (what you will do in life): This will be the sum of all the letters- e.g. ELIJAH JORDAN WOOD ~ 5+3+9+1+8 +1+6+9+4+1+5 +5+6+6+4 = 26 + 26 + 21 = 73 = 10 = 1
Again look that up in section 3...
Finding your Karmic number (what you will learn as a lesson in this lifetime): This is the numbers missing from your name. If it is 0, then you are free to choose (subconsciously) what lessons you want to learn this lifetime.
Add the missing numbers up but don't reduce then to a root number (1 to 9) unless the total is greater than 22- In Elijah Jordan Wood (finding expression number) we can see that the numbers missing are 2 and 7 (every other number 1,3,4,5,6,8,9 are used. Check!)So this just means his lessons in life are to do with the number 2+7 = 9 Check in section 3!
Finding your life path and Life purpose number (both are together): Life path is the route in which you will accomplish/fulfill your destiny and the life purpose is basically answering "why am I here?"- For the life purpose, add up your complete date of birth. Don't add compound numbers like 28 + 1, it will be 2+8+1...
Elijah's birthday is 28/01/1981 ~ 2+8 +1 +1+9+8+1 = 30 = 3
However if it is a master number (11 or 22), reduce 11 to 2 and read what the number 11 AND 2 means and reduce 22 to 4 and read what the number 22 AND 4 means.
For the life path, just add the month together (if needed)~ Elijah's is just 1 because he was born in January
General meanings of the numbers
1 - Creation
- Action
- Intelligent with courage
- Likes to invent, create or explore something new
- A leader in a group, like a trend setter. However s/he is unconcerned about whether others will follow her/him at all
- Masculine force, ruled by the Sun
2- A "yes" person who gives generously without being asked to
- Speaks when spoken to and they rarely give their own firm opinion because of a fear of causing trouble
- A passive person
- Goes with the flow, to please others. Therefore a follower to people who are like number 1
- Extremely sensitive, especially to others feelings
- Feminine force, ruled by the Moon
3 - Happy and joyful character
- A balanced person as a result of the addition of 1 and 2
- Tends to be youthful in appearance
- Full of enthusiasm and inspirational to others, by showing them that dreams can come true
- Dreamers and likes to use words as a form of expression
- Speaks from the heart not the mind
- Ruled by the planet Jupiter
4 - Constructive worker, likes to make ideas into reality
- Carries out the plans of other
- Works to set rules/limits and keeps to the law
- Loves precision work, routine work
- Opposite of number 3
- Ruled by the Earth and Sun
5 - Number 5 people try to live life to the full
- Ruled by the planet Mercury and Mars
- This means they are quick witted, enthusiastic and interested in world affairs
- It is also a number of change, variety, involvement in events/situations and travel
- This person can work on earth or spiritual levels, and are very sensual- linking to the 5 senses
- However they are also restless and cannot keep still
- They are free spirits, love freedom and exploration
6 - Give love and helps others unselfishly, even when they are not asked to
- Ruled by Venus, "child of grace" number
- Loves domestic home life and do their best to keep the security and happiness around the home and work
- They try to right all wrongs and don't hesitate to do it either

7 - Wants to understand life, constantly asking questions, gathering informatin and examine plans
- A thinker/analyst
- The first power number (out of 7,8 and 9) so knowledge is considered as power for this person. The more they know, the more power they have

- Tries to keep a balance between material and spiritual things however tends to swing to an extreme with no concerns

8 - A number meaning judgement, the person is always being put in situations that they must decide the outcome concerning themselves and others
- Ruled by the planet Saturn, a planet of limitation and severity
- The number "8" consists of two "0"'s and also can mean the infinit sign meaning the decision that the person makes is a "all or nothing" decision (i.e important)
- Extremely ambitious but they can also self-destruct/break down at the same time
- Connected to the number 4 and is 2nd in the power numbers
- Number 8's wants power over others
9 - Last of the root numbers, linked to wisdom and forgiveness
- They live with integrity, having lived through the past 8 numbers and they are leaders by example and not by will (like number 1 does)
- Inspirational to others and everything they do and say can have a great impact on others
- Usually full of charisma and ruled by the planet Uranus
- An emotionally charged number
11 - A master number
- Lives life on extremely high vibrations and they may live life in a special role only if they live and meet upto their potential
- Needs to pass through the trials mentioned in number 2 (1+1= 2 remember!) and so they need to discover themselves earlier than others
- A leader with strong personal ambitions but if the ambitions are not good intentions, they are capable of turning to darkness
- However with love in their intentions, number 11 people are "bringers of light"
22 - Another master number
- Must pass through the trials mentioned in number 4
- Childlike in innocence and shares it's wisdom and love with others
Specific meanings of the numbers
All the numbers, except Karmic lessons
1 - Most times, they are born into a family where both parents are domineering, overpowering or tends to crush your confidence. This often means that there is tension and/or conflict at home
- In the teenage years, this will mean the person will go through intense rebellion to escape from the dominance of home life. They often find life intolerable and leaves- like life is a battle and that the world is against them and they often feel alone
- They may attact others who share the same characteristics and it may take the individual a while before they get the courage and strength to go and do their own thing
- The biggest challenge is seeing the bigger picture... so try and develop your creativity and self-confidence
2 - Sometimes born into families who are very critical of the child's actions which leads to a low self-esteem and the individual grows up to conform a lot- unable to make up their own decisions because of a fear of being wrong
- They are vulnerable to people who "use" them and who dominate them
- People who are number 2's are loving, supporive and well-balanced. They live for relationships... learn to communicate better with others and find that balance in life
3 - They are life itself, forever youthful and seeking new forms of expressing themselves
- They have a high sensitive nature and they live on intellect, and often develop a hard skin
- Learn to develop new self-expressive powers using your sensitivity and honesty
4 - They are practical people who are ruled by the head and loves praise off others. If they do not receive the praise that they expect they are often critical to others
- Likes to know al the facts and do not like to take risks. They have a strong sense of right and wrong/likes and dislikes
- They are naturally friendly and approachable
- Learn to create stability in your life... try and take risks now and again
5 - They are restless, have freedom and are always full of curiousity
- However they are insecure and have a habit of repeating the same mistake

6 - A very domestic number
- They love to help others
- Try and open up your view on life
7 - They are studious, intellectual and detached from others. They like to show off their wisdom to others

Karmic Lessons (remember this is the number MISSING from your name)
The numbers 16 and 19 (more about 16 below) - 16's are prone to sudden accidents and losses
- 1 + 6 are materialistic but = 7 which is a highly spiritual number
- People who are 16 begin life striving for wealth/the highest position etc. but when they suffer losses, they are more open to spiritualism
- The number 19 is spiritual rebirth
- 1 + 9 = 10 which = 1... the learn to take a journey of self-development and enlightment
- Both have a sunny disposition
0 - You are free to choose (subconsciously) which lessons you want to experience
4 - Work to goals with little enjoyment
- Emotions are not that important to them
- They don't really like challenges in fact they may feel anger and resentment to them
- Likes to be alone doing a job
- Hates getting ivloved in others problems
- LESSON = lighten up a bit :)
5 - Indpendent, active and acts on impulse
- Travels a lot and has a lot of unusual experinces
- Tempted by a lot of things e.g food, drugs etc
