The National Park service has been clearing out trees and brush in and around the Trostle Barn. This is part of the plan to clear out 600 acres of trees and bring the battlefield back to its look in 1863. I think it looks great. Though Ive taken many photos of the barn I almost didnt know where I was. Keep up the good work!

My cousin Jennifer and her best friend Michelle came to Gettysburg for the first time. We had a ton of fun and toured the entire Battlefield. One of thier favorite spots was the Sachs Covered Bridge. You can read more about it by clicking the "Off the beaten Path" link on the site.
The tourist season is over in Gettysburg and the town has become rather quiet. It is a great time to come if you dont like the crowds.

Rememberance Day 2001 was great this year. There were about 5,000 Re-enactors on hand for the parade and the crowd was very much into the patriotic theme due to the events of September 11th.It was great to hear the soldiers singing the songs as they were being played by the fife and drum core. If anyone took any pictures of the event send them to me and ill post em here.
Our unit The 61st/23rd Pa Volunteer infantry participated in the morning Cemetery cerimony and The march to Vincents Brigade Monument on Little Round Top.We also went to the 61st Pa Monument to remember those who we follow and carry on thier memory.

Sachs Covered Bridge Damage Gettysburg Battlefield Online We want the person to know who did this that someone is always watching and that you better not vandalize a National Park. It is a federal crime.
11/11/00 Two months Later We'll Never forget 9/11/01
Today my Grandfather Frank Marrone took a ride with me and my wife to Gettysburg to see our home and the battlefield. It was his first trip there since 1961 and we had such a good time. It was him who took his kids to the battlefield in the 50's and 60's. My father would later pass that tradition to me, sparking my interest.
We stopped in at Servants Olde Tyme Photos to take this image. My Grandfather is 92 years old and I belive he may be one of the oldest persons to ever had his picture taken there. Long live my Pop Pop! .

Sometime around September 8th 2001 a cannon on benners hill which appears to be an original due to the info plate on the side, was vandalized and possibly ready to be stolen .It looks as if the person responsible tried to tow it away using a truck, trying to rip it out of the ground by force.
Anyone who may have info on this incident please e-mail me! I will personally offer a reward of $200.00 if the person is convicted in a court of law.We here at Gettysburg Battlefield Online have a hard time dealing with those unpatriotic individuals who try to steal or deystroy our history. Dont forget this.....Gettysburg Battlefield Online is everywhere looking for you!

I just came back from my first film shoot from the movie "Gods and Generals. Wow was impressed. The sets were so life like and real. The cast and crew were great and the Film Co. took care of the re-enactors well.
The Highlight for me so far was meeting Stephen Lang who is portraying General "Stonewall" Jackson.Mr Lang is one kind man always taking time out for fans to sign autographs and pose for a picture. Not to mention a great actor who I believe will bring out his best in this film. If you liked his part in Gettysburg your gonna love this film.

Today one one of the saddest days in our nations history. though this website is dedicated to Gettysburg and the Civil War, I thought it would be appropriate to mention this tragedy.
First off there hasnt been a loss of life like this in one day since the Civil War. Secondly, the state of Pennsylvania was attacked by terrorists and the point of attack about two hours west of Gettysburg. But most importantly we as Americans need to fully support our great country and hopfully we will attack those responsible for this un-godly,cowardess attack.

Gettysburg Battlefield Online gives thier prayers and support to the victims of this attack, those hereos who are out trying to save others and to the United states of America and The Great State of Pennsylvania! God Bless America!

The tourist season is just about over in Gettysburg. It was a great year for the town. Millions came to see one of the most historic spots on earth.Gettysburg Battlefield Online had over 7000 hits from June to September and added over 50 pages in that time. The Restaurant/Inn that burned down earlier in the year at the square is being built fast and from what I hear will be made to an exact replica to what it looked like at the time of the battle. The National Park Service did a great job preserving parts of the battlefield this year, two Id like to mention. First Little Round Top ....The grass was allowed to overgrow and the public kept from climbing the front of the hill to stop erosion. Secondly the Old Tower ground is looking beautiful once again with grass and wildlife. Thanks Guys (and Gals).

Dear Frank,
Great website! You have done a wonderful job. Thank you for including the Schriver House Museum. I am adding a link from our website to yours although it probably won't happen until tonight. I know you have a link to ours and if it is possible and there is room, could you also include it in your "links" section. Thank you again and keep up the good work.

It is July now and we are a day away from the re-enactment of the battle of Gettysburg. It has been busy in town this week and the weather is supposed to be ok. The re-enactment will take place at the Yingling farm. Take the Emmitsburg pike past picketts charge. When you get to the Peach Orchard make a right onto millerstown rd. Follow it (it will become pumping station rd) about 2 miles. You will cross marsh creek and about 200 yards later you will see the parking lot. Enjoy the battle and dont forget to book your hotels early for next year!
