Day 12
Sunday December 28, 2014
We got up early today and met our friend Carol down at the food court. She works graveyard and was on her way home so this was a convenient time for all of us. Works grave is kind of past tense now as she announced she was retiring at the end of the week. We hung out and chatted for a few hours and then our day started as hers ended.

We had brunch at Farm 24/7. Dee had a Denver omelet and I had a prime rib sandwich. The food was again very good but the service again very slow here.

For gaming we decided to play some Wheel Poker Deluxe as a change of pace. They are short pay so I limited what we were going to play on them. This was another disaster for us. We dropped 5 bills between us in 45 minutes despite getting dealt quad threes. I made the decision that we were done with Aliante. It seems every time we've been here not only do we get killed, we don't get that much play either. I'm not saying the machines are rigged. I'm just saying we don't do well here at all for some reason.

We decided we'd head out to the Gold Coast and get some action in there since we didn't stay there this trip. We played triple/five play here. Dee was up and down here and cashed out up $100. I cashed out even which sounds good but when you consider I hit 2 sets of aces on one hand and a straight flush later on it wasn't a great result. Anything is better then the results we have up at Aliante.

We were going to have dinner at the Noodle Exchange but the place was so packed the line to get in was wrapped past the counter and out into the casino. The same was true for Ping Pang Pong. Since I despise eating at Fridays on vacation we opted for the Cortez Room. Since we didn't have reservations there was going to be about a 45 minute wait. During this wait time I stopped into he host office to see my host and ask for a comp. He was able to do $20 based on our small action at that point.

We still had plenty of time so we went off to play Dee's favorite Butterfly 7's machine. Today this machine gobbled up $20 in minutes and we were off to VP again. I looked for the 9/6 jacks that used to be right outside of the Cortez Room but they were gone. We opted for some 8/5 bonus single line. Dee lost a little and I won a little but nothing that made any difference in the bottom line.

It was time to eat so we went back to the Cortez Room. I got the rib eye and Dee had a pasta dish. We skipped the appetizers and dessert tonight. The meal was good and one thing I like about this place is it's not a la carte. After the $20 comp came off the bill I used points to cover the balance and we were back in the casino.

We hit the 3/5 plays again. Things were a little more streaky here this time especially for me. Luckily the Haily Mary attempts were working well. It seemed almost every time I switched over to DDB I'd hit a quad. I wasn't getting bonus quads but at least I was hitting something. By the end of the session we'd dropped a few hundred. Added to this morning's loss it's not good. However when you figure we got almost 5x as much play as we did at Alainte and lost less, it wasn't a bad night at the Gold Coast.

We headed out for the 32 hour drive back to Aliante with a quick stop at Jack in the Box for some milkshakes for the ride and wrapped up another night.

Total win/loss for the day - $850
Total Comps for the day $289
