Day 12 Friday July 25, 2003

Woke up today and on the TV there were a bunch of severe weather alerts. I opened up the curtains to see the sky getting pretty scary. A little while later there was a huge black cloud above the hotel. It’s raining like hell and you can’t even see the strip from up here.

After getting ready I went down to the casino. Today is 5X points here at the Fiesta so I’ll be getting in a couple of hours of video poker to cash in on this promotion (like I don’t already have enough points in my account here)!

I started with multi strike poker. I got quite a bit of play on the initial investment but then the machine stopped giving me the winning hands needed to get to the top hands. What started out as a decent machine turned into a vacuum cleaner and I lost about $500 here.

After multi strike I moved over to deuces wild. This worked out much better and I played for over and hour and did hit the deuces and cashed out with win. Just for fun after playing deuces I put $5 into one of those video slot machines. This one featured a strip club theme. I thought it was pretty funny and in the bonus round you choose patrons of the club to tip the dancer. If they tip enough the stripper takes her clothes off! Unfortunately it’s just a cartoon girl! I cashed out over $20 on this machine. Not bad for playing a penny game with a $5 investment!

After cashing in at the cage I went up to the room for a short break and then it was time to get ready to go to dinner. I was meeting Anne and Terry at the Hilton and we were going to go to the Steakhouse there. Our reservations were for 7 and Mark would be our waiter as always. Mark’s service was excellent as always. We started off with a fried mozzarella appetizer. This actually came from the Italian restaurant next door. I followed the appetizer up with a filet mignon and a huge baked potato. The meat was cooked perfect and was full of flavor. For dessert Mark brought out chocolate soufflés to top off a great dinner.

After dinner we went to the casino and played some video poker. Anne was playing DDB and hit 4 aces and a kicker for $500. I was playing regular bonus and got dealt 4 aces for $100 and cashed out.

We left the Hilton and head to a place called O’Aces out on Tropicana and Decatur. It’s a small local’s bar with food and video poker. Anne and Terry have wanted me to play here for a while so tonight I decided would be the night. The pay tables are horrible but I still played. I didn’t do very well on these machines but Anne seemed to be doing ok. Shortly after we got there Mark (the waiter) arrived. We all played and hungout and joked around for a few hours. It seemed like I was in the hot seat and really got ragged on tonight, especially by Mark. What a prick! We finally left around 4am.

I was getting tired at O’Aces but on my way out of the place and driving back to Fiesta I got a second wind and stopped off at the Hard Rock as I passed by. This was a mistake and I was out the door almost as fast as I went in. I dropped $600 on the ice cold craps table and then did come back up here to Fiesta to call it a night (or day depending on how you want to look at it!)

Total win/loss for the day -$900
Total comps for the day $60
