Day 7
Sunday July 20, 2003
I started the day by going to my final tournament session. A look at the score card showed me in 133rd place so my session yesterday moved me up 100 notches. This is still bad though. More people have hit royals and aces with kickers so today my plan is to play very aggressive for those hands which mean dumping winning hands that you’d normally keep. I drew machine 33 today and got yet another free gift. Today it was a hardware caddy. It’s a small plastic cylinder with compartments to store screws and bolts and things like that. It comes with over 600 pieces.
I couldn’t seem to hit any decent hands but that was in part to playing aggressively for the higher hands. I had just over 600 points for this session making it my worst. It’s safe to say I won’t be in the money in this tournament either but I’ll find out for sure at 2pm when I go to the awards party. The big spenders here at Sam’s Town are going to be serving champagne and cake. Now there’s a thrill!
Since I’ve got an hour before the awards party my plan is to hit and run on the craps table real quick down stairs.
The craps table was actually nice to me for a change. I wasn’t playing as heavily as I usually do but still ended up winning $225 for my first decent craps win of the trip.
After I cashed out I went over to Sam’s Town Live to go to the awards party and get my free cake. They announced the winners and took pictures. The winning player had a final score of 7770. Go figure a score with triple 7’s would be the winner. I finished with a total of 2405 good for 198th place out of 325 players.
After the party I came back up to the room to do some things here in the room and to go online to check and send e-mails before resting for a few hours. I didn’t plan on such a long break but I fell asleep and didn’t wake up until 8pm.
When I got up I got ready to go out and went back down to he Hard Rock. Even though I don’t usually have much luck here I get a lot of playtime for my money. The table started out a little choppy but then got strong with a few shooters having great rolls. One guy shot for 25 minutes and I was up quite a bit and should have left but of course I didn’t. This turned into another one of those marathon nights where I left as the sun was coming up again. After about 6 hours I left the game down only $11. It doesn’t sound bad but I was up a few hundred at one point and didn’t take the money and run like I should have. I finally got back to the room at around 5:30am and the first half of this trip has come to an end. I can’t believe it’s been a week already and I certainly can’t believe the bad run of luck I’ve had at this point. I sure hope the second half of this trip works out better than the first did.
Total win/loss for the day $150
Total comps for the day $110
