Day 10 Wednesday July 23, 2003

After I got up and got ready to go I had to make a quick stop over at the post office and the plan for the day was to play over at Slots-a-Fun for a few hours on the 9/6 jacks or better triple play machines.

Traffic on the strip was a nightmare but I finally got down to the north end of the strip. I made my way to Slots-a-Fun to my favorite bank of machines but what’s this? They changed the pay tables on these games. The pay table is now 8/6 but paying 130 for a quad. This lowers the return of the game by almost a full percent. It looks to me as if my VIP status at this place is about to come to an end. I’m going to play today because I came here to do so but this just isn’t a good game anymore. Things weren’t good on this machine either. I wasn’t getting any good dealt winners and it was over an hour before I hit a quad. The only real highlight was being dealt quad 7’s for 390 credits but other than those few quads this game killed me today taking $400 from me.

I was hungry now so went to the slot club booth and got a comp for the Pink Pony. As I got to the coffee shop I saw a huge line waiting to get in. That’s ok though because I get to cut the line and use the VIP entrance! In just a few minutes I was sitting at my table while the others were waiting. I ordered grilled cheese and a bowl of soup. Everything was great and I was on my way in no time.

I walked up to the Stardust to hit and run on the craps table. This worked out well. I was the only one on the game and won $109. From here I went back over to Circus-Circus and got on their craps game. Things started out ok but then went to hell so for the second time in my life I started betting the dark side. This turned out to be the right move again and I got up quite a bit. After about 2 hours I left with a $210 profit.

It was getting late and there was still some time to get 2X points over at Slots-a-Fun so I tried another $100 in the triple plays. I played for quite a while but lost again. This machine was tight and I still lost even though I hit 2 straight flushes within about 10 hands of each other. It was getting late so I came back here to the Flamingo and started packing up for tomorrow’s move.

Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total comps for the day $85
