Day 3 Wednesday July 16, 2003

I slept in this morning until about 10am and got ready. My plan for this morning was going to be to hit the casino here and play a little more video poker before my 1:30 tournament session.

Playing this morning turned out to be a bad idea. I started off with the quarter 8/5-bonus progressives again. Here I dropped $100 and only got $300 worth of action for it. After this I decided to take a shot at some $1 video poker. This was also a mistake as I dropped another $200 here.

After getting my ass kicked by video poker it was time to head up to the tournament room. Today they were serving cold cuts for sandwiches, a hot chicken dish and a bunch of different salads. The desserts were pretty lame today with one of the items being Rice Krispies treats. Today I was on machine 15. This machine sucked as bad as my machine did yesterday. My total today was just over 6000 giving me a 2-day total of just over 12,000. I’d venture a guess that I won’t be in the money considering I saw people with 1 round totals higher than my 2 rounds.

After the tournament I decided to go up to Green Valley Ranch. I bought in at the craps table. They had a $3 game with 10X odds. This table was choppy at best and then went to hell. People were shooting for a long time but they weren’t rolling any numbers other than craps and 11’s. Few were repeating numbers and I dropped a wad here. All of the money I won on yesterday’s royal was now gone as well as more of my own money. Oh well, screw it. There’s no point in bitching about it here. One thing that pissed me off while I was playing was when a guy came to the table on my left. This was no problem since there was plenty of space for him. The kicker here was when his wife stomps up to the table and elbows me to the side. Then she proceeded to stand there taking up 3 spaces and not play. Meanwhile I got shoved way over to the hook. I was going start a confrontation but decided a pompous bitch like her wasn’t worth it.

From Green Valley Ranch I went back down to he Rio. As I walked out of GVR the skies looked pretty scary and the lightning started. A few minutes after I pulled out of the parking lot it rained like I never saw before in Las Vegas. Of course the locals don’t have a clue as to how to drive in the rain and traffic crawled along at about 15 miles per hour. I finally made it back to the strip and something looked strange. At first I couldn’t tell what was wrong and then I realized that the traffic signals were all out. There was no power from around the Klondike all of the way Tropicana. What a mess traffic was and people seemed to be in a panic.

I finally made it back to the Rio just in time to head to the Awards Dinner for the slot tournament. Unlike the tournament sessions this was a regular sit down dinner. First they started with a huge dinner salad that was followed by a chicken and pasta dish and then dessert. The awards were given and the second chance drawings were made. I didn’t win these either. After the dinner I checked the winners board and saw I finished 345th! This was in a field of about 375. For some reason I don’t usually do well in these but it was a free shot at some cash, they comped 3 room nights, and fed me 3 times so all in all I’d say it was a pretty good deal.

After the awards dinner I came back up here to the room to relax for a while and that’s where we are in this report right now.

After taking a short break I decided to go out and head over to the Hard Rock again. I got onto a $5 game and it was a bit choppy here too. One shooter would do great and then the next 2 would wipe out any profits. I couldn’t shoot to save my life tonight. After 3 hours I decided to give up and take the small $100 loss. This was a pretty slow night here at the Hard Rock and there wasn’t really anything else to mention here.

It’s now about 2:30am again and I am really beat so it’s time to end another day get to bed.

Total win/loss for the day -$1000
Total comps for the day $106
