Like some modelers, I started building models as a kid with my first model
being a twin engine prop plane when I was about nine years old. I entered
my first model contest when I was 10, winning first place with a Pan-Am 747.
I built models in practically every subject, mostly cars and aircraft, and
my model building reached its peak when I was 16. That's when I bought
Revell's large three foot tea clipper "Cutty Sark" which to this day, still
has some sails to be added in order to completely finish it.
After a hiatus of about 10 years, I got back into modeling in the late
'80s
when I built the Original Series U.S.S. Enterprise. Through some of my friends I got involved
with the Maritime Science Fiction Modelers group, which enabled me to learn more
skills and hone my model building. Star Trek has been my main model
building subject for a few years, but I have since broadened my horizons to
include cars, other sci-fi subjects and military ships and aircraft.
