This is a list of rules and guidelines that we believe are necessary for all that play with in the Shadow Realm chat. These rules will be written both IC (In character) and OOC (out of character), and it will be stated and broken up so you are perfectly clear as to what is IC and what is OOC. Please be sure to check back to this page from time to time. If you feel the rules are not being followed by one or more parties then please find either Hunter or Georgia and report such activity. By Rping (role playing) with in the Shadow Realm (SR) you are accepting and agreeing to the following rules and there enforcement. The Shadow Realm reserves all rights to shutdown, ban, or kick any patron with out warning or prior notice.
It is our goal to provide a fun and safe environment to express ourselves through Rping. But please remember that everything that happens with in the chat is by all means just a GAME. And it should be kept that way. It is expected that you turn characters against characters. Conflict is by all means the method of good and interesting RP. But leave you battles with in the chat. Don’t feud with each other outside the chat and try and remember that our main objective here is to have fun!
General Rules
***Please note that these rules are subject to change…..
***Continued abuse of these rules will resort in a fitable punishment to be Determined by the staff.
***All rules listed here are to be followed through out the site. On
message Boards, submissions
In character:
Keep foul language to a minimum. Flagrant and allusive usage of inappropriate language will not be tolerated. It may be used to give a hint of realism to your character. Use your common sense in order to distinguish what is acceptable and what is not.
Out of character:
There is no need for such language with in the chat for any reason. Out of character conversation should be kept to a minimum anyhow, so the usage of foul language is unwarranted. If you use such language to refer to another patron you will by all means be banned from the chat for a 24-hour period. The staff finds this a suitable punishment for such unnecessary behavior. Practice self-control and I am sure we will have no problems.
Real Life Information:
It is advised that you flat don’t do it. Don’t give out your phone number, address, IRL (In Real Life) name, credit card numbers, etc…to anyone with in the chat for any reason. The chat is to be used for role-play and role-play alone. Yes from time to time it
will slip OOC. But even then, do not use real names! Do not give out information on other people that they may have trusted you with. It will not be tolerated for any reason what so ever.
Harassment:
Both IC and OOC harassment will not be tolerated. None of any kind for any reason. If you are being harassed we ask you to please attempt to use the ignore feature with in the chat. If by chance it fails to prevent the harasser then by all means get in contact with a member of our staff. The op will attempt to warn the violator in order to prevent further action. But if the harassment continues then proper and necessary precautions shall be taken.
Flooding:
Unacceptable……..Need we say more? Just don’t do it!

Rules and Advice in Creating You Character/ Characters:
What to do when trying to create a character:
**After establishing your character introduce him/her into the chat gradually. Usually an inventive entrance will do the trick. Try every possibly avenue such as the message boards, etc….Great description and an inventive use of language and adjectives is always a unique and wonderful way to strike interest.
About the Chat: If you plan on being a frequent visitor to the Realm then you might want to stake residency. We do need Lords and Ladies that will be residents of the Realm so come one come all we love new neighbors!
Conflicts:
Taking Damage basiclly defines other player’s opinions about your role-playing skills. It
is the most important thing to do during a fight. Any one can give damage, but it takes a
good rp’er to take it. That involves not only typing and responding, but showing a
maturity in your mannor and let others know you understand what is happening in the
fight. Character’s that are god like in abilties and use that to out manouver another
character with the end result of death for the person that actually does things properly,
loss the privlage to kill anyone. If you are attacked and killed by someone who rp’s like
that you can appeal to the staff and we can review it. If we find this to be true the person
that killed you will be issued a warning after the thrid time this happen’s they will be
banned from the chat room. We try to provide a fair chat and understand that such people
are a disturbance to both story lines and the player’s behind them.
When two character’s come together in combat it is based on a back and forth struggle of
actions and counter actions, because of that we ask that you only type out one move per
line so the other player has time to respond. With out that we would lose the true essence
of the combat and it would become pointless. Doing more then one action a time can
lead to one warning, then a kick. If you get kicked twice, we will ban you from the chat
for a certain period of time. This type of fighting is an example of poor role-playing and
is discouraged.
Don’t you just hate people that walk in and go,

Keep it to a minimum. Yes as was said earlier from time to time it happens. But it should be avoided if possible. Take it to private chat if you find there is something you must tell someone OOC. If it is something small and you don’t wish to use private chat then please use double brackets to indicate that it is an OOC comment. For Example: <
Public expression of affection b/w characters is of course encouraged. But sexually lewd and inappropriate behavior should by all means be restricted. Cybering in public is forbidden. We do not want to be witness to your sexually exploitations as we assume you
do not want to be witness to ours. Once again use common sense and practice self control.
Make your characters as realistic as possible. Meaning that all characters should have some visible sigh of weakness. NO one is invincible and everyone can die. Try and make your characters as original as possible. Be you wizard, vampire, mage, witch, dragon, troll, wolf, or a combination of the many….be original. Try and accomplish an unknown character and develop them with a story line.
It is usually easier if you establish a background for your character. Where is he/she from?
The chat is set in a medieval type setting.
The Staff knows and understand to make a good story line conflicts can and will occur. Because of this we felt is was nessary to set some guildline's on the subject of fighting.
