Let's Go Mets! SEPTEMBER 2 - HOME GAME #69 vs Philadelphia Phillies (53-80)

Matt Harvey (11-7) goes against Aaron Nola (5-1).

74-59 +6.5

Lets Go Mets! A successful HARVEY DAY! Matt pitched six and a third innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs. Harvey struck out 9 and gave up a home run to rookie Darnell Sweeney. Michael Conforto hit his 5th home run. He went 6 for 10 in the three game series against the Phillies. Ruben Tejada hit a ball down the right field line that resulted in an inside-the-park home run as the Phillies right fielder's momentum took him into the stands. Yoenis Cespedes hit his 10th home run for the Mets and 28th overall. MLB's website states that "The Mets have lost ground in the NL East race just once in the last 14 days. Their lead has nearly doubled over that time, from 3 1/2 games to 6 1/2."

I arrived early to meet with Brette Trost of the Mets Media Relations Department. She had emailed me about an interview. The cool part was we did the interview in the Mets press conference room, I'd not seen it before nor did I even know where it was before today. I had never been interviewed before except for job interviews at work and I was nervous. My brother told me to just be myself so I did my best to be me. [cue the UFO song "Hard Being Me"]

Game #69 view

Before I was talking (again) with one of the ushers, Steve. He mentioned he was a drummer and almost was the drummer of one of my favorite bands, RIOT. I was stunned as he told me the story and how he is good friends with Lou A. Kouvaris, guitarist on the 1st RIOT album. Lou was in Japan this week to play as a special guest of the current RIOT V lineup. Small world indeed.

Michael Conforto home run

An inside-the-park home run by Ruben Tejada and home runs by Michael Conforto and Yoenis Cespedes were big highlights for this game. Cespedes' shot was his 28th this season and 10th with the Mets. Lots of nice Met fans around me tonight.
