Game one of Skid's season at Citi. JULY 4th - GAME #86 vs Texas Rangers (37-48)
Jon Niese (5-4) vs Yu Darvish (8-4). The Rangers surprisingly have the same record as the Mets at 37 wins and 48 losses. The Mets hope to break a current four game losing streak.

38-48

Jonathan Niese got drilled in the side with a line drive in the 1st and was forced to leave the game, he was not too happy about mgr. Terry Collins decision. Niese did record his 17th straight game without allowing more than three earned runs. Eric Campbell, in his last start before the return of injured David Wright, went 3 for 3 to raise his average to .340 in 94 at bats. Eric is batting .432 in his last ten games and remains a bright spot on the Mets bench. Travis d'Arnaud smacked the game winning double in the eighth as the struggling Rangers lost their sixth straight and 14th of their last 16 games. Someone worse off than the Mets.

After a great gathering of friends and family for the fourth in which I physically was reminded why I quit playing softball 6 years ago (and this was a whiffle ball game!) we enjoyed an hour long fireworks display that collectively cost way to much. Settling home around 10:30 I put the game on at the top of the hour. I tried to stay awake through the game but kept falling asleep and restarting innings, eventually only watching the Mets batting and skipping the Rangers. I think I re-started the ninth three times and fell asleep each time before it was over. I finally gave up and went to bed at 3:20 am assuming that the Mets had won.

Eric Campbell was hitting .355 in 141 at bats in Las Vegas before his call up.
