January 14th, 2007
Today started out early, again. Jen woke up at 4:30. I made her some hot chocolate and went back to bed while she read and played. About 6:00 she climbed into bed with us and fell back asleep. We had to wake her up to go get breakfast.

After breakfast we had an orientation meeting. We officially met the nine other families who are in our adoption group. The group is going to six different provinces to adopt children and then will meet again in Guangzhou. At the orientation we received new pictures of Hou Yong. He was smiling!!! I was thinking about posting them; but we will be seeing him in person tomorrow and can post photos then. Here is his information....

....He weighs 25.5kgs and is 95cm tall. That means that he and Jen weigh about the same, but he is a little shorter. I hope the clothes we brought fit him.

After the orientation we had a 10-course Chinese-style lunch. So much good food. After a short rest, we toured the Temple of Heaven and Tian An Men Square.

Even though the day was sunny, the temperature was around 32 degrees. We bundled up, but were still cold. The sights were very impressive and it was great to see some more of Beijing’s history.

We need to be ready to leave for the airport tomorrow morning at 5:45 am. We are wondering if Jen will wake us up in time to get ready. We are packing tonight so all we will have to do is check out and go in the morning. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s adventure. That is the whole reason we are in China.

Jen’s comment for the day....As we were in the huge courtyard of the Temple of Heaven “Is this Temple Square?” And then again as we approached Tian An Men Square, “Is this Temple Square?” I guess she does pay attention to what we are saying!
