Hou Yong's waiting child photo
We are adopting through Holt International. We were DTC (Dossier To China) June 25th, 2006. At the time we finished our dossier ( The massive amount of paperwork the Chinese government wants you to do in order to adopt) Holt asked us if we were interested in adopting a waiting child.
These are children in China that have identified medical problems that makes finding them families more difficult. We said that we might be interested depending on the problem. With Paul’s medical background we figured we knew more of what we would be getting into. We were checking Holt’s waiting child page almost daily looking at these beautiful children all needing families. Teresa wanted to adopt every child on the page. Paul was more pragmatic.
In July 2006, we saw a photo of an adorable 2 1/2 year-old boy with an intense stare. We asked for his information. His special need was within our ability to care for, and we felt that we needed to pursue bringing him into our family. Our permission to adopt arrived on September 8th, 2006.
We have come to the conclusion that the Robertsons can do a boy. A boy might get along better with Jen because there would be no gender competition. Paul is now dreaming of father-son outings, pine-wood derby cars and figuring out ways to keep him out of contact sports.
