Campbell County held on down the stretch to earn a 43-40 victory over Newport. There were three ties and three lead changes in the game. Campbell County led 23-14 at halftime but Newport battled back to tie the score at 32-32 after three quarters. Campbell County connected five of six free throws down the stretch to ensure the victory. Campbell County shot 42.4% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line. The Camels connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored six points off four Newport turnovers. Newport shot 36.7% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored four points off six Campbell County turnovers.

Campbell County led by 16 points mid way through the third quarter but Harlan County’s Trent Noah hit a three point shot with 45 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 69-69 and force overtime. Harlan County outscored Campbell County 16-2 in overtime. The score was tied four times and there were five lead changes in this game. Harlan County shot 51.9% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line. The Black Bears connected on 23 of 27 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 12 Campbell County turnovers. Campbell County shot 43.1% from the field including 11 of 32 from beyond the arc. The Camels connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Harlan County turnovers.

Trent Noah led Harlan County with 48 points including seven three point baskets, nine of nine free throws, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Evangel Christian shot 38.5% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line. The Eagles connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off 13 Trinity turnovers. Trinity shot 36.4% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc. The Shamrocks connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Evangel Christian turnovers.

Kyran Tilley led Evangel Christian with 20 points including three of four free throws, three rebounds, and four steals. Christian Doerr added 19 points including three three point baskets, six of eight free throws, four rebounds, and five assists. Lyon County defeated Great Crossing 58-49 in a game that many believed are the best two teams in the state. There were three ties and three lead changes in tis game. Lyon County was able to prevent Great Crossing from totally dominating in the paint by limiting the “bigs” touches and once they got the lead controlled the tempo of the game. Lyon County shot 44.2% from the field including nine of 21 from the three point line. The Lyons connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 16 points off nine Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 37% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc. The Warhawks connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored two points off five Lyon County turnovers.

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 24 points including four three point baskets, six of eight free throws, four rebounds, and four assists. Brady Shoulders added 13 points including two three point baskets, five of six free throws, three rebounds, two assists, and four steals. The Harlan County faithful serenaded the audience with the song “You Will Never Leave Harlan Alive” as they celebrated their team’s 55-47 victory over Evangel Christian to advance to the championship. There were two ties in this game and four lead changes. Harlan County shot 32.6% from the field including four of 24 from the three point line. The Black Bears connected on 21 of 25 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored four points off six Evangel Christian turnovers. Evangel Christian shot 29.4% from the field including five of 25 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored five points off eight Harlan County turnovers.

Trent Noah led Harlan County with 29 points including three three point baskets, 16 of 18 free throws, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Maddox Huff added 15 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Reggie Cottrell recorded six points and three rebounds.

Kyran Tilley led Evangel Christian with 25 points including three three point baskets, six of seven free throws, and three rebounds. Lyon County realized their dream season tonight with a 67-58 victory over Harlan County. The score was tied 45-45 after three quarters but Lyon County outscored the Black Bears 22-13 in the final quarter to earn the championship. There were seven ties and one lead change in this game. This was a dream come true for Travis Perry, Brady Shoulders, and Jack Reddick who started playing basketball together 10 years ago. Lyon County shot 54.8% from the field including 10 of 19 from the three point line. The Lyons connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 12 points off seven Harlan County turnovers. Harlan County shot 50% from the field including 11 of 28 from beyond the arc. The Black Bears connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 17 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Lyon County turnovers.

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 27 points including five three point baskets, five assists, and two steals. Jack Reddick added 16 points including four three point baskets, and four assists. The score was tied 44-44 at halftime but Lyon County pulled away in the second half for an 83-63 victory over Lexington Catholic. Lyon County shot a sizzling 73.7% from the field in the second half. The score was tied five times and there were eight lead changes in the game. Lyon County shot 68.2% from the field including nine of 16 from the three point line. The Lyons connected on 14 of 26 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 47.9% from the field including 12 of 29 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on five of 12 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Lyon County turnovers.

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 33 points including seven three point baskets, four of five free throws, five rebounds, and five assists. The Bearettes connected on 20 of 26 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Bullitt East turnovers. Bullitt East shot 27.8% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Chargers connected on 19 of 33 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Butler turnovers.

Mariah Knight led Butler with 17 points including three three point baskets, four of four free throws, 13 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Bryson Elia recorded a steal and layup that proved to be the winning points in a 35-32 victory for Tug Valley over Tucker County. Tug Valley outscored Tucker County 9-4 in the final quarter. There were three ties and eight led changes in this game. Tug Valley shot 34.2% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line. The Panthers connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 16 Tucker County turnovers. Tucker County shot 38.9% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc. The Mountain Lions connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored four points off 10 Tug Valley turnovers.

Fort Loramie claimed their fourth championship with a 42-29 victory over Waterford. Fort Loramie shot 43.2% from the field including one of five from the three point line. The Redskins connected on three of 10 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 20 Waterford turnovers. Waterford shot 32% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc. Owsley County coach Travis Smith started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Aaliyah Lynch, 5-9 Sr. Shelby Murray, 6-3 Fr. Macey Brown, 5-6 Sr. Carly Smith, and 5-10 So. Addison Terry. Bowling Green coach Calvin Head countered with 6-0 Jr. Katy Smiley, 5-7 Sr. Chloe Potter, 5-9 Sr. Natajia Alexander, 5-1 Jr. Nataya Wardlow, and 5-9 Sr. Ryleigh Campbell.

Bowling Green trailed 22-7 with 4:25 remaining in the second quarter but rallied to defeat Owsley County by the score of 46-44. Bowling Green defeated Owsley County 20-15 in the final quarter. Bowling Green shot 31.1% from the field including four of 18 from the three point line. The Purples connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored six points off 12 Owsley County turnovers. Owsley County shot 29.8% from the field including seven of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Owls connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored four points off eight Bowling Green turnovers.

Katy Smiley led Bowling Green with 12 points including five of six free throws, seven rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots. Natajia Alexander added 12 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and two steals. Chloe Potter recorded 12 points including five of seven free throws, and three rebounds. 5-8 Sr. Jasiyah Franklin chipped in with eight points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three blocked shots.

Carly Smith led Owsley County with 14 points including three of three free throws, six assists, and two steals. Addison Terry added 14 points including three three point baskets, five of six free throws, five rebounds, and two assists. Aaliyah Lynch recorded 11 points including three three point baskets and two assists. Shelby Murray pulled down 10 rebounds. Macey Brown chipped in with four points, three rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Russell vs. McCracken County

A suffocating defense by McCracken County and early foul trouble doomed Russell in a 50-33 loss. McCracken County shot 47.2% from the field including one of five from the three point line. The Lady Mustangs connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Russell turnovers. Russell shot 26.1% from the field including two of 21 from beyond the arc. The Lady Devils connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 18 McCracken County turnovers.

Claire Johnson led McCracken County with 21 points including 12 of 15 free throws, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Reagan Hill added 12 point, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. Mikee Buchanan recorded eight points, six rebounds, and two steals. Jayden Skaggs chipped in with six points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Shaelyn Steele led Russell with 15 points including four of four free throws, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Kennedy Darnell added 11 points, three rebounds, and three steals.

Butler coach Candyce Wheeler countered with 6-1 Sr. Mariah Knight, 5-4 Sr. Keziah Bradley, 6-5 Sr. Ramiya White, 4-10 Jr. Anieja Russell, and 5-3 Sr. Emaree Gober.

Butler trailed 38-36 after three quarters but responded with defensive intensity and connected on eight of eight field goals in the final quarter to earn a 58-49 victory over Anderson County. There were nine ties and eight lead changes in this game. Butler shot 57.5% from the field including six of 12 from the three point line. The Bearettes connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Anderson County turnovers. Anderson County shot 39.2% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bearcats connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored three points off seven Butler turnovers.

Ramiya White led Butler with 16 points and four rebounds. Emaree Gober added 11 points including three three point baskets, and four assists. Mariah Knight recorded 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. 5-8 Sr. Malia Patrick chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets, and four assists. Anieja Russell added six points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Franklin County utilized an excellent defensive effort and good bench scoring to defeat North Laurel by the score of 51-30. Franklin County suffered a setback in the first half as starting center Juliana Frazee left the game with an ankle injury late in the first half. Franklin County shot 51.4% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line. The Lady Flyers connected on 11of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 North Laurel turnovers. North Laurel shot 27.5% from the field including zero of 12 from beyond the arc. The Lady Jaguars connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 16 Franklin County turnovers.

Rachel Shropshire led Franklin County with 14 points including three three point baskets, and four rebounds. 6-0 Jr. Keyonna Taylor added 12 points including four of six free throws, six rebounds, and two blocked shots. 5-4 Fr. Makiyia Wheeler recorded six points including four of five free throws, two rebounds, and nine assists. Logan Kennedy chipped in with four points, five rebounds, and three assists.

6-2 Fr. Marielle Claybrook led North Laurel with 10 points and four rebounds. Haley Combs added seven points and four steals. Brooke Nichelson recorded six points including four of four free throws, and five rebounds.

Pikeville vs. Bethlehem

Bethlehem coach Jason Clark countered with 5-8 Sr. Ashlyn Miles, 5-7 Jr. Tessa Miles, 6-3 Jr. Leah Macy, 5-5 Sr. Kensey Clayton, and 5-7 Sr. Carlie Thurmond.

Bethlehem trailed 32-26 at halftime but tightened up their defense in the second half and rallied for a 56-49 victory over Pikeville. Pikeville actually led by 11 mid way through the second quarter. There were four ties and eight lead changes in the game. Bethlehem shot 41.7% from the field including one of 10 from the three point line. The Banshees connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored seven points off seven Pikeville turnovers. Pikeville shot 37.3% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc. The Lady Panthers connected on five of 12 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off eight Bethlehem turnovers.

Leah Macy led Bethlehem with 31 points including seven of eight free throws, 17 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Tessa Miles added nine points, five rebounds, and three steals. Carlie Thurmond recorded six points including four of six free throws, and two rebounds.

Trinity Rowe led Pikeville with 17 points including two three point baskets, three of four free throws, four rebounds, and six assists. Kyera Thornsbury added 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Kristen Whited recorded 10 points including two three point baskets, and three rebounds. Leighan Jackson chipped in with five points and eight rebounds. Rylee Theiss pulled down seven rebounds.

Henderson County defeated Owensboro by the score of 43-39 in a game characterized by runs. Owensboro led 26-14 with 3:24 left in the second quarter but Henderson County went on a run to lead 29-26 with 3:42 left in the third quarter and never trailed again. Henderson County shot 39.5% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line. The Lady Colonels connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Owensboro turnovers. Owensboro shot 27.1% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Devils connected on 10 of 10 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored nine points off 14 Henderson County turnovers.

A’Tylia Green led Henderson County with 17 points including two three point baskets, three of four free throws, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots. Allyson Rideout added eight points and eight rebounds. Anna Kemp recorded six points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Adalyn Gish chipped in with six points and three assists.

George Rogers Clark led 21-12 after the first quarter but Sacred Heart outscored the Lady Cardinals 14-0 in the second quarter to lead 26-21 at halftime. There were two ties and two lead changes in the game. Sacred Heart Academy shot 53.5% from the field including four of seven from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 15 GRC turnovers. George Rogers Clark shot 39.5% from the field including six of 20 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cardinals connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 17 rebounds, and scored sive points off 18 Sacred Heart Academy turnovers.

Angelina Pelayo led Sacred Heart Academy with 20 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. ZaKiyah Johnson added 18 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Reagan Bender recorded eight points, three assists, and three steals. The Lady Jaguars connected on 19 of 26 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 22 Danville Christian turnovers. Danville Christian shot 54.1% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc. The Lady Warriors connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 13 points off nine Cooper turnovers.

Logan Luebbers Palmer led a balanced Cooper scoring attack with 15 points including six of seven free throws, three rebounds, and four steals. Liz Freihofer added 14 points including three of four free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Haylee Noel recorded 11 points including three of four free throws, three rebounds, and four assists. Bella Deere chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and two steals. 5-9 So. Addison Brissey added six points. 5-11 Jr. Zene Thompson recorded five points, two assists, two blocked shots, and four steals.

Grace Mbugua led Danville Christian with 34 points including three three point baskets, seven of 11 free throws, 14 rebounds, three assists, four blocked shots, and two steals. What mkes her performance even more remarkable was that she was whistled for her fourth foul late in the second quarter and played the rest of the game without fouling out of the contest. Paisley Metz added eight points including two three point baskets and two rebounds. Grace Meyer recorded six points including two three point baskets and two rebounds. Braxtyn Heck chipped in with six points on six of 11 free throws, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. 6-0 Sr. Emily Musasi recorded six points and five rebounds.

Haylee Noel led Cooper with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. 5-11 Jr. Zene Thompson added eight points and five assists. McCracken County defeated Butle by the score of 74-57. McCracken County shot 51.1% from the field including eight of 17 from the three point line. The Lady Mustangs connected on 18 of 22 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 18 Butler turnovers. Butler shot 42.9% from the field including seven of 23 from beyond the arc. The Bearettes connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 McCracken County turnovers.

Claire Johnson led McCracken County with 39 points including five three point baskets, eight of nine free throws, three rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and three steals in only 25 minutes of playing time. Mikee Buchanan added 25 points including two three point baskets, nine of 11 free throws, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Sacred Heart Academy made history tonight as they become the first high school team in Kentucky to record a 4-peat with a 60-49 victory over a very talented McCracken County squad. Sacred Heart led 32-28 at halftime and gradually pulled away in the second half. There were four ties and seven lead changes in this game. Sacred Heart shot 61.9% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on four of 12 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 21 McCracken County turnovers. McCracken County shot 48.6% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc. The Lady Mustangs connected on 13 of 15 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Sacred Heart turnovers.

ZaKiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart Academy with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Reagan Bender added 18 points including four three point baskets, two rebounds, and seven assists. Angelina Pelayo recorded 13 points, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Claire Johnson led McCracken County with 24 points including 10 of 11 free throws, four rebounds, and two steals. Mikee Buchanan added 19 points including two three point baskets, three of four free throws, six rebounds, and three steals.
