Lyon County vs. Great Crossing (Semifinal)

Lyon County coach Ryan Perry started the following lineup: 6-6 So. Lukas Breedlove, 6-2 So. Bray Kirk, 6-6 Sr. Brady Shoulders, 6-2 Sr. Travis Perry, and 6-3 Sr. Jack Reddick. Great Crossing coach Steve Page countered with 6-7 Sr. Jeremiah Godfrey, 6-5 Jr. Vince Dawson III, 7-1 Jr. Malachi Moreno, 5-9 Jr. Junius Burrell, and 6-4 Jr. Gage Richardson.

Lyon County defeated Great Crossing 58-49 in a game that many believed are the best two teams in the state. There were three ties and three lead changes in tis game. Lyon County was able to prevent Great Crossing from totally dominating in the paint by limiting the “bigs” touches and once they got the lead controlled the tempo of the game. Lyon County shot 44.2% from the field including nine of 21 from the three point line. The Lyons connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 16 points off nine Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 37% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc. The Warhawks connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored two points off five Lyon County turnovers.

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 24 points including four three point baskets, six of eight free throws, four rebounds, and four assists. Brady Shoulders added 13 points including two three point baskets, five of six free throws, three rebounds, two assists, and four steals. The Harlan County faithful serenaded the audience with the song “You Will Never Leave Harlan Alive” as they celebrated their team’s 55-47 victory over Evangel Christian to advance to the championship. There were two ties in this game and four lead changes. Harlan County shot 32.6% from the field including four of 24 from the three point line. The Black Bears connected on 21 of 25 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored four points off six Evangel Christian turnovers. Evangel Christian shot 29.4% from the field including five of 25 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored five points off eight Harlan County turnovers.

Trent Noah led Harlan County with 29 points including three three point baskets, 16 of 18 free throws, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Maddox Huff added 15 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Reggie Cottrell recorded six points and three rebounds.

Kyran Tilley led Evangel Christian with 25 points including three three point baskets, six of seven free throws, and three rebounds. Lyon County realized their dream season tonight with a 67-58 victory over Harlan County. The score was tied 45-45 after three quarters but Lyon County outscored the Black Bears 22-13 in the final quarter to earn the championship. There were seven ties and one lead change in this game. This was a dream come true for Travis Perry, Brady Shoulders, and Jack Reddick who started playing basketball together 10 years ago. Lyon County shot 54.8% from the field including 10 of 19 from the three point line. The Lyons connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 12 points off seven Harlan County turnovers. Harlan County shot 50% from the field including 11 of 28 from beyond the arc. The Black Bears connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 17 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Lyon County turnovers.

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 27 points including five three point baskets, five assists, and two steals. Jack Reddick added 16 points including four three point baskets, and four assists. Brady Shoulders recorded 15 points including four of eight free throws, seven rebounds, and three steals. Lukas Breedlove chipped in with four points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. Bray Kirk added three points on three of four free throws, and six rebounds.

Maddox Huff led Harlan County with 22 points including six three point baskets, and four assists. Butler shot 33.3% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line. The Bearettes connected on 20 of 26 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Bullitt East turnovers. Bullitt East shot 27.8% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Chargers connected on 19 of 33 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Butler turnovers.

Mariah Knight led Butler with 17 points including three three point baskets, four of four free throws, 13 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Shady Spring vs. Fairmont Senior (Class 3A Championship)

Shady Spring coach Ronnie Olson started the following lineup: 6-3 Jr. Jack Williams, 6-2 Jr. Makhi Olson, 6-4 Sr. Ammar Maxwell, 6-0 Jr. Jalon Bailey, and 6-0 Sr. Gavin Davis. Fairmont Senior coach David Retton countered with 6-3 Jr. Tre Cumberledge, 6-4 Sr. Zycheus Dobbs, 5-11 So. Julz Butler, 6-0 Sr. Andrew Grant, and 6-2 So. Darrell Claybrook.

Shady Spring defeated Fairmont Senior 58-55 in overtime. Fairmont Senior had an opportunity to win the game in regulation but missed a jump shot in the closing seconds. Ammar Maxwell (Shady Spring) and Zycheus Dobbs (Fairmont Senior) both fouled out in overtime. There were eight ties and seven lead changes in this game. Shady Spring shot 43.6% from the field including three of five from the three point line. The Tigers connected on 21 of 24 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Fairmont Senior turnovers. Fairmont Senior shot 40.9% from the field including six of 11 from beyond the arc. The Polar Bears connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 14 Shady Spring turnovers.

Jalon Bailey led Shady Spring with 18 points including nine of nine free throws. Jack Williams added 15 points including two three point baskets, five of six free throws, four rebounds, and three assists. Ammar Maxwell recorded 14 points including six of seven free throws, 13 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Gavin Davis chipped in with nine points and four rebounds.

Andre Grant led Fairmont Senior with 28 points including four three point baskets, six of seven free throws, and five rebounds. Zycheus Dobbs added 15 points including four of four free throws, six rebounds, six assists, seven blocked shots, and two steals. There were three ties and eight led changes in this game. Tug Valley shot 34.2% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line. The Panthers connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 16 Tucker County turnovers. Tucker County shot 38.9% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc. Independence vs. Cookeville (Class 4A Championship)

Independence coach Mark Wilkins started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Korben Walling, 6-2 Jr. Tylan Lewis, 6-8 Sr. Houston Hicks. 6-0 Jr. Dawsyn Miller, and 6-0 Sr. Jett Montgomery. Cookeville coach Josh Heard countered with 6-3 Sr. Jack Oakley, 6-2 Jr. Jalen Heard, 6-6 Sr. Josh Heard, 5-10 Sr. Bennett Reeves, and 5-11 Sr. Colin Ayers.

Independence defeated Cookeville by the score of 53-44. There were six ties and three lead changes in this game. Independence shot 41.5% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line. The Eagles connected on 14 of 17 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored eight points off six Cookeville turnovers. Cookeville shot 34.9% from the field including five of 16 from beyond the arc. The Cavaliers connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds. And scored six points off seven Independence turnovers.

Jett Montgomery led Independence with 28 points including three three point baskets, 11 of 11 free throws, four rebounds, and two assists. Korben Walling added 10 points and seven rebounds. Tylan Lewis recorded seven points, two rebounds, and three assists. Houston Hicks chipped in with three points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Bennett Reeves led Cookeville with 11 points and two rebounds. Josh Heard added 10 points and five rebounds. Jalen Heard recorded nine points including six of seven free throws, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Colin Ayers chipped in with six points, four rebounds, and two assists.

The Falcons connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 22 Ridgeway turnovers. Ridgeway shot 44.7% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc. The Roadrunners connected on 11 of 12 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored nine points off eight Knoxville Fulton turnovers.

Tyler Lee led Knoxville Fulton with 22 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Taj Kimber added 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Dexter Lewis recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Nicholas Steen chipped in with nine points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Bowling Green trailed 22-7 with 4:25 remaining in the second quarter but rallied to defeat Owsley County by the score of 46-44. Bowling Green defeated Owsley County 20-15 in the final quarter. Bowling Green shot 31.1% from the field including four of 18 from the three point line. The Purples connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored six points off 12 Owsley County turnovers. Owsley County shot 29.8% from the field including seven of 16 from beyond the arc. Russell vs. McCracken County

A suffocating defense by McCracken County and early foul trouble doomed Russell in a 50-33 loss. McCracken County shot 47.2% from the field including one of five from the three point line. The Lady Mustangs connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Russell turnovers. Russell shot 26.1% from the field including two of 21 from beyond the arc. The Lady Devils connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 18 McCracken County turnovers.

Claire Johnson led McCracken County with 21 points including 12 of 15 free throws, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Reagan Hill added 12 point, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. Mikee Buchanan recorded eight points, six rebounds, and two steals. Jayden Skaggs chipped in with six points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Butler trailed 38-36 after three quarters but responded with defensive intensity and connected on eight of eight field goals in the final quarter to earn a 58-49 victory over Anderson County. There were nine ties and eight lead changes in this game. Butler shot 57.5% from the field including six of 12 from the three point line. The Bearettes connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Anderson County turnovers. Anderson County shot 39.2% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bearcats connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored three points off seven Butler turnovers.

Ramiya White led Butler with 16 points and four rebounds. Emaree Gober added 11 points including three three point baskets, and four assists. Mariah Knight recorded 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. 5-8 Sr. Malia Patrick chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets, and four assists. Franklin County utilized an excellent defensive effort and good bench scoring to defeat North Laurel by the score of 51-30. Franklin County suffered a setback in the first half as starting center Juliana Frazee left the game with an ankle injury late in the first half. Franklin County shot 51.4% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line. The Lady Flyers connected on 11of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 North Laurel turnovers. North Laurel shot 27.5% from the field including zero of 12 from beyond the arc. The Lady Jaguars connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 16 Franklin County turnovers.

Rachel Shropshire led Franklin County with 14 points including three three point baskets, and four rebounds. 6-0 Jr. Keyonna Taylor added 12 points including four of six free throws, six rebounds, and two blocked shots. 5-4 Fr. Makiyia Wheeler recorded six points including four of five free throws, two rebounds, and nine assists. Logan Kennedy chipped in with four points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Bethlehem trailed 32-26 at halftime but tightened up their defense in the second half and rallied for a 56-49 victory over Pikeville. Pikeville actually led by 11 mid way through the second quarter. There were four ties and eight lead changes in the game. Bethlehem shot 41.7% from the field including one of 10 from the three point line. The Banshees connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored seven points off seven Pikeville turnovers. Pikeville shot 37.3% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc. The Lady Panthers connected on five of 12 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off eight Bethlehem turnovers.

Leah Macy led Bethlehem with 31 points including seven of eight free throws, 17 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Tessa Miles added nine points, five rebounds, and three steals. Carlie Thurmond recorded six points including four of six free throws, and two rebounds.

Trinity Rowe led Pikeville with 17 points including two three point baskets, three of four free throws, four rebounds, and six assists. Henderson County defeated Owensboro by the score of 43-39 in a game characterized by runs. Owensboro led 26-14 with 3:24 left in the second quarter but Henderson County went on a run to lead 29-26 with 3:42 left in the third quarter and never trailed again. Henderson County shot 39.5% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line. The Lady Colonels connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Owensboro turnovers. Owensboro shot 27.1% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Devils connected on 10 of 10 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored nine points off 14 Henderson County turnovers.

A’Tylia Green led Henderson County with 17 points including two three point baskets, three of four free throws, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots. Allyson Rideout added eight points and eight rebounds. Anna Kemp recorded six points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. There were two ties and two lead changes in the game. Sacred Heart Academy shot 53.5% from the field including four of seven from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 15 GRC turnovers. George Rogers Clark shot 39.5% from the field including six of 20 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cardinals connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 17 rebounds, and scored sive points off 18 Sacred Heart Academy turnovers.

Angelina Pelayo led Sacred Heart Academy with 20 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Logan Luebbers Palmer led a balanced Cooper scoring attack with 15 points including six of seven free throws, three rebounds, and four steals. Liz Freihofer added 14 points including three of four free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Haylee Noel recorded 11 points including three of four free throws, three rebounds, and four assists. What mkes her performance even more remarkable was that she was whistled for her fourth foul late in the second quarter and played the rest of the game without fouling out of the contest. Paisley Metz added eight points including two three point baskets and two rebounds. Grace Meyer recorded six points including two three point baskets and two rebounds. Sacred Heart shot 61.9% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on four of 12 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 21 McCracken County turnovers. McCracken County shot 48.6% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc. The Lady Mustangs connected on 13 of 15 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Sacred Heart turnovers.

Great Crossing coach Steve Page started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Jeremiah Godfrey, 6-5 Jr. Vince Dawson III, 7-1 Jr. Malachi Moreno, 5-9 Jr. Junius Burrell, and 6-4 Jr. Gage Richardson. Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Sr. Tyler Doyle, 6-4 Sr. Rowan Williams, 6-7 Sr. Miller Williams, 6-0 Sr. John Reinhart, and 6-3 Sr. Brody Turner.

Vince Dawson III hit a three point basket at the buzzer gave Great Crossing a 56-53 victory over Lexington Catholic in a packed gym tonight. Dawson had nailed another three point basket with 32 seconds remaining to tie the game at 53-53. Lexington Catholic led 33-24 late in the first half and the score was tied seven times with 11 lead changes. Great Crossing shot 60.5% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored six points off four Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 38.9% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on five of five free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 10 Great Crossing turnovers.

Vince Dawson III led Great Crossing with 23 points including two three point baskets, and nine rebounds. Junius Burrell added 13 points including two three point baskets, and four assists. Malachi Moreno recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and four blocked shots. Jeremiah Godfrey chipped in with four points, two rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Tyler Doyle led Lexington Catholic with 25 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and three assists. John Reinhart added 15 points including three three point baskets, and three rebounds. 6-0 Sr. Sam Smith recorded seven points and two rebounds. Rowan Williams chipped in with six points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.

North Oldham vs. Owen County

North Oldham coach Mac McIntosh started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Izzy Gross, 5-6 Jr. Avery Cameron, 5-11 Sr. Saylor Hankins, 5-4 8^th Grade Greyson Luehrs, and 5-6 Sr. Katherine Smith. Owen County coach Amy Wasselman countered with 5-10 Sr. Haley Logan, 5-8 So. Kylee Steffen, 5-10 Sr. Rachel Howard, 5-3 Sr. Adi Bowling, and 5-7 Jr. Kaileigh Gibson.

North Oldham withstood a late rally to defeat Owen County by the score of 50-48. North Oldham led 27-14 early in the third quarter. There were two lead changes and three ties in this game. North Oldham shot 34.8% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line. The Lady Mustangs connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 17 Owen County turnovers. Owen County shot 41% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc. The Lady Rebels connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored eight points off six North Oldham turnovers.

Katherine Smith led North Oldham with 16 points including 12 of 16 free throws, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Saylor Hankins added 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists. 5-6 Sr. Gracie Sipes recorded 10 points including two three point baskets. 5-4 8^th Grade Greyson Luehrs chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets.

Haley Logan led Owen County with 23 points including two three point baskets, five of seven free throws, seven rebounds, and three assists. Rachel Howard added 11 points including four of five free throws, and 11 rebounds. Kylee Steffen recorded seven points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.

Spencer County vs. Simon Kenton

Ella Brown stole the ball and passed to Hawley Johnson to give Spencer County a 46-45 upset victory over Simon Kenton in the closing seconds of the game. That was the only lead for Spencer County in the entire game. Spencer County shot 45.9% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line. The Lady Bears connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored five points off 11 Simon Kenton turnovers. Simon Kenton shot 42.1% from the field including three of seven from beyond the arc. The Lady Pioneers connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 18 Spencer County turnovers.

Ella Brown led Spencer County with 17 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Hawley Johnson added nine points including three of four free throws, and seven rebounds. Skyler Mills recorded nine points, four rebounds, and three assists. Kayla Basham chipped in with six points on two three point baskets and four rebounds.

Brynli Pernell led Simon Kenton with 15 points including six of eight free throws, two rebounds, and two steals. Haylie Webb added nine points and six rebounds. Anna Kelch recorded nine points including one three point basket and two of two free throws.

Anderson County defeated Trimble County by the score of 59-28. Anderson County shot 48% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line. The Lady Bearcats connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 20 Trimble County turnovers. Trimble County shot 41.7% from the field including one of four from beyond the arc. The Lady Raiders connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored three points off seven Anderson County turnovers.

Lainey Johnson led Anderson County with 25 points including three three point baskets, nine rebounds, two assists, three blocked shots, and four steals. Jenna Satterly added 12 points, two rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Addison Edmondson led Trimble County with 13 points including four of six free throws, and four rebounds. Jolie Wilcoxson added seven points including three of four free throws and three rebounds.

South Oldham defeated Grant County by the score of 81-78. South Oldham led Grant County 55-39 in the third quarter but Grant County finished the quarter on a 20-5 run to cut the deficit to one; 60-59 entering the final quarter. There were four ties and four lead changes in the game. South Oldham shot 52.6% from the field including eight of 22 from the three point line. The Lady Dragons connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Grant County turnovers. Grant County shot 42.6% from the field including six of 23 from beyond the arc. The Lady Braves connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 31 points off 27 South Oldham turnovers.

Madison Young led South Oldham with 25 points including nine of 12 free throws, 14 rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, and two steals. Ella Morrison added 22 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, two assists, and three blocked shots. Brynn Brickey recorded 21 points including five three point baskets and two rebounds. Chloe John chipped in with eight points and three rebounds. Grace Turner added five points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Sarah Russell led Grant County with 28 points including seven of nine free throws, eight rebounds, and six steals. Caroline Barnes added 21 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Jada Cummins recorded 15 points including five of eight free throws, three rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals. The Lady Bearcats connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Spencer County turnovers. Spencer County shot 52% from the field including one of nine from beyond the arc. The Lady Bears connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 15 rebounds, and scored nine points off 11 Anderson County turnovers.

Jenna Satterly led Anderson County with 12 points including six of seven free throws, four rebounds, and two steals. 5-9 Jr. Faith McGregor added 12 points and five rebounds. Lainey Johnson recorded seven points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Ella Brown led Spencer County with 20 points on nine of 10 from the field including one of two from the free throw line and one of three from the free throw line.
