Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Scott Chalk started the following lineup: 6-4 So. Tim Hall Jr., 6-4 So. Zach Carter, 6-6 So. Robert Todd, 5-9 Fr. Nick Spalding, and 6-0 Sr. Dylan Spalding. Madison Southern coach Austin Newton countered with 6-2 Sr. Jonah Wooten, 6-1 Sr. Chad Fugate, 6-4 So. Nate Turner, 5-4 Sr. Colby Sebastian, and 5-11 Sr. Hunter Buchanan.
Paul Laurence Dunbar pulled ahead late to defeat Madison Southern 58-54 in a hotly contested game. There were seven ties and nine lead changes in the game. Dunbar held a 18-12 advantage in offensive rebounds and a 15-5 advantage in second chance points. Paul Laurence Dunbar shot 33.9% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line. The Bulldogs connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Madison Southern turnovers. Madison Southern shot 32.7% from the field including eight of 25 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 15 Dunbar turnovers.
Nick Spalding led Paul Laurence Dunbar with 23 points including five three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals. Tim Hall Jr. added 11 points, nine rebounds, two blocked shots, and four steals. Zach Carter recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots. 6-8 So Lionel Kumwimba added two points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Chad Fugate led Madison Southern with 31 points including five three point baskets, five rebounds, and four steals. Hunter Buchanan added 10 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds. Nate Turner, Jonah Wooten, and 6-0 Sr. Samuel Lee pulled down seven, six, and six rebounds respectively.
