Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Grace Berger, 5-7 Sr. Kia Sivils, 6-0 So. Kristen Clemons, 5-6 Jr. Jr. Ashlee Harris, and 5-7 Sr. Kiki Samsel.  Eastern coach Josh Leslie countered with 5-11 Jr. Devin Beach, 5-8 Jr. Kiara Pearl, 5-11 Jr. Mikayla Kinnard, 5-5 Sr. Breanna Anthony, and 5-6 Sr. Brea Mishler.

 

Sacred Heart raced out to a 27-9 first quarter lead on their way to an 86-56 victory over a good Eastern squad.  Sacred Heart shot 43.8% from the field including 10 of 21 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 20 of 23 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and score 16 points off 10 Eastern turnovers.  Eastern shot 31.7% from the field including one of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Sacred Heart turnovers.

 

Grace Berger led Sacred Heart with 24 points including two three point baskets, 13 rebounds, and five assists.  Kia Sivils added 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Kiki Samsel recorded 11 points including three three point baskets.  5-5 So. Erin Toller also reached double figures with 10 points.  Ashlee Harris chipped in with nine points and six assists.  Kristen Clemons recorded eight points and eight assists.

 

Mikayla Kinnard led Eastern with 15 points and six rebounds.  Kiara Pearl added 12 points and five rebounds.  Devin Beach recorded 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals.  Brea Mishler chipped in with nine points, four rebounds, and three steals.  5-10 Fr. Marissa Gasaway added eight points and five rebounds.

Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-7 So. Taleya Todd, 5-7 Sr. Blaze Pacheco, 5-10 So. Je’Kauri McKeithen, 5-5 Sr. Bailey Vanover, and 5-6 Jr. Madison Barnard.  George Rogers Clark coach Robbie Graham countered with 5-10 Jr. Hayley Harrison, 5-10 Jr. Maleaha Bell, 5-9 Sr. Shemaya Behanan, 5-7 So. Kennedy Igo, and 5-9 Jr. Jasmine Flowers.

 

George Rogers Clark’s aggressive, trapping defense proved to be too much for Madison Central tonight as the Cardinals recorded 17 steals and scored 28 points off 26 Madison Central turnovers in a 70-39 victory.  GRC shot 44.4% from the field including seven of 20 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on seven of 13 free throws and pulled down 35 rebounds.  Madison Central shot 32.1% from the field including zero of two from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 21 of 27 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 GRC’s turnovers.  Madison Central attempted 28 shots from the field compared to 63 points for GRC.

 

Kennedy Igo led George Rogers Clark with 18 points including five three point baskets,  and five assists.  Maleaha Bell added 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Shemaya Behanan recorded 10 points and six rebounds.  Haley Harrison chipped in with eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and five steals.  5-7 So. Shelbi Wilson added eight points and three steals.

 

Taleya Todd led Madison Central with 13 points including nine of 11 free throws.  Bailey Vanover added six points.  Je’Kauri McKeithen pulled down seven rebounds.

Male defeated Fern Creek by a score of 84-48.  Male shot 52.9% from the field including one of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 38 points off 26 Fern Creek turnovers.  Fern Creek shot 34% from the field including eight of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on eight of 16 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Male turnovers.

 

Cameron Browning led Male with 21 points and five rebounds.  Browning was 10 of 12 from the field and one of one from the free throw line.  Joelle Johnson added 16 points and six rebounds.  Ciaja Harbison recorded 15 points, six assists, and three steals.  Kynidi Striverson added 10 points, five assists, and six steals.  5-8 Sr. India Green chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds, and two steals.

 

Myana Foree led Fern Creek with 23 points including five three point baskets.  Alexis Smith added 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Sydney Rivette led Mercy with 19 points including two three point baskets.  Ta’Ziah Jenks added 18 points, 15 rebounds, and three steals.  Hope Sivori recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Racquael Reese chipped in with nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 29 points including four three point baskets and seven assists.  Peyton Riddle added 17 points and seven assists.  Maaliya Owens chipped in with 14 points including three three point baskets.  Juliette Smith added five points, six rebounds, and five assists.  Malea Williams recorded five points, five rebounds, and five blocked shots.

(6-7 Jr. Kyle Rode is out tonight with an ankle injury).

 

The score was tied 26-26 at halftime but Dunbar outscored LCA 27-18 in the third quarter and held on down the stretch to earn a 72-69 victory.  The score was tied seven times and there were 10 lead changes in the game.  Dunbar shot 42.6% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 25 of 37 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 12 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 34% from the field including eight of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 25 of 32 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 20 Dunbar turnovers.

 

Jared Gadd led Dunbar with 22 points  including three three point baskets and five rebounds.  JaQuice Gray added 19 points including 14 of 19 free throws, nine rebounds, and four assists.  Isaiah Allen recorded 14 points including two three point baskets.  Trevor Rogers chipped in with nine points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

 

Carter Hendricksen led LCA with 29 points including 15 of 16 free throws, 14 rebounds, and two assists.  Austin Hall added 13 points and 10 rebounds.  6-1 So. Ezekiel Greer chipped in with 10 points.  Will Hacker added nine points on three three point baskets.

Scott County led 36-30 at halftime and pulled away in the second half to earn a 78-59 victory over Clay County.  Scott County shot 45.2% from the field including four of 18 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and committed six turnovers.  Clay County shot 33.9% from the field including five of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on 18 of 21 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and committed 21 turnovers.

Clay County raced out to a 34-18 halftime lead on their way to a 60-45 victory.  Clay County shot 39.7% from the field including two of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on 28 of 36 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and committed 17 turnovers.  Harlan shot 39.5% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Dragons connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and committed 15 turnovers.

 

5-9 So. Kaylee Mathis led Clay County with 35 points including two three point baskets, 15 of 17 free throws, 10 rebounds, and two assists.  5-4 Fr. Taylor Asher added 15 points including seven of nine free throws.  5-9 Jr. Summer Parker recorded seven points and five rebounds.  5-6 Jr. Shelby Phillips pulled down eight rebounds.

Boyd County defeated Male 75-73 in what can only be described as an early season classic.  Boyd County jumped out to a 3-0 lead and then Male exploded to take a 20-5 lead early in the second quarter as Boyd County went ice cold from the field.  Boyd County trailed 37-23 at halftime then began the long climb back in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 23-8 to earn a 46-45 lead after three quarters.  Boyd County managed to hold on to the lead until Male’s Ciaja Harbison recorded a steal and basket to tie the game at 62-62 and force overtime.  Boyd County held on to earn the victory in overtime as Harley Paynter hit a key three point basket early in overtime and made a key defensive play late in the extra stanza to help ensure the victory.  The Lady Lions improve to 5-0 and this was a big win against one of the top teams in the state.

 

Boyd County shot 38.6% from the field including nine of 31 from the three point line.  The Lady Lions connected on 22 of 30 free throws and pulled down 23 rebounds.  The Lady Lions committed 15 fouls.  Male recorded three point baskets, connected on 10 of 20 free throws, and were whistled for 24 fouls.

 

5-6 Jr. Savannah Wheeler continues her stellar play as she led Boyd County with 27 points including five three point baskets.  5-9 Sr. Payton Shears added 16 points including 10 of 12 free throws and pulled down six rebounds.  5-7 Fr. Harley Paynter also scored 16 points including two three point baskets.  5-7 Charity Shears recorded 13 points including two three point baskets.

 

6-1 Jr. Cameron Browning led Male with 27 points.  5-6 Sr. Ciaja Harbison added 15 points.  6-0 Jr. Joelle Johnson recorded 10 points and was the “Windex person” as she cleaned the glass for 17 rebounds.

Scott County defeated Lexington Catholic by a score of 75-60.  Scott County shot 47.3% from the field including 11 of 23 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 19 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 51.2% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Scott County turnovers.

 

Michael Moreno led Scott County with 24 points including two three point baskets, 11 rebounds, and three steals.  5-9 Jr. Diablo Stewart added 21 points including six three point baskets and five assists.  Cooper Robb recorded 16 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.  Lorenzo Williams chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

 

Zan Payne led Lexington Catholic with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.  Keegan Bailey added 13 points.  6-7 Sr. Max Sparkman recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
