Sacred Heart raced out to a 27-9 first quarter lead on their way to an 86-56 victory over a good Eastern squad.  Sacred Heart shot 43.8% from the field including 10 of 21 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 20 of 23 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and score 16 points off 10 Eastern turnovers.  Eastern shot 31.7% from the field including one of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Sacred Heart turnovers.

Grace Berger led Sacred Heart with 24 points including two three point baskets, 13 rebounds, and five assists.  Kia Sivils added 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Kiki Samsel recorded 11 points including three three point baskets.  5-5 So. Erin Toller also reached double figures with 10 points.  Ashlee Harris chipped in with nine points and six assists.  Kristen Clemons recorded eight points and eight assists.

Mikayla Kinnard led Eastern with 15 points and six rebounds.  Kiara Pearl added 12 points and five rebounds.  Devin Beach recorded 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals.  Brea Mishler chipped in with nine points, four rebounds, and three steals.  5-10 Fr. George Rogers Clark’s aggressive, trapping defense proved to be too much for Madison Central tonight as the Cardinals recorded 17 steals and scored 28 points off 26 Madison Central turnovers in a 70-39 victory.  GRC shot 44.4% from the field including seven of 20 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on seven of 13 free throws and pulled down 35 rebounds.  Madison Central shot 32.1% from the field including zero of two from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 21 of 27 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 GRC’s turnovers.  Madison Central attempted 28 shots from the field compared to 63 points for GRC.

Kennedy Igo led George Rogers Clark with 18 points including five three point baskets,  and five assists.  Maleaha Bell added 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Shemaya Behanan recorded 10 points and six rebounds.  Haley Harrison chipped in with eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and five steals.  5-7 So. Shelbi Wilson added eight points and three steals.

Boyd County defeated Male 75-73 in what can only be described as an early season classic.  Boyd County jumped out to a 3-0 lead and then Male exploded to take a 20-5 lead early in the second quarter as Boyd County went ice cold from the field.  Boyd County trailed 37-23 at halftime then began the long climb back in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 23-8 to earn a 46-45 lead after three quarters.  Boyd County managed to hold on to the lead until Male’s Ciaja Harbison recorded a steal and basket to tie the game at 62-62 and force overtime.  Boyd County held on to earn the victory in overtime as Harley Paynter hit a key three point basket early in overtime and made a key defensive play late in the extra stanza to help ensure the victory.  The Lady Lions improve to 5-0 and this was a big win against one of the top teams in the state.

Boyd County shot 38.6% from the field including nine of 31 from the three point line.  The Lady Lions connected on 22 of 30 free throws and pulled down 23 rebounds.  The Lady Lions committed 15 fouls.  Male recorded three point baskets, connected on 10 of 20 free throws, and were whistled for 24 fouls.

5-6 Jr. Savannah Wheeler continues her stellar play as she led Boyd County with 27 points including five three point baskets.  5-9 Sr. Payton Shears added 16 points including 10 of 12 free throws and pulled down six rebounds.  5-7 Fr. Harley Paynter also scored 16 points including two three point baskets.  5-7 Charity Shears recorded 13 points including two three point baskets.

6-1 Jr. Cameron Browning led Male with 27 points.  5-6 Sr. Ciaja Harbison added 15 points.  6-0 Jr. Joelle Johnson recorded 10 points and was the “Windex person” as she cleaned the glass for 17 rebounds.
