Jacksonville University coach Tony Jasick started the following lineup: 6-8 Sr. Cody Helgeland, 6-6 Jr. Jace Hogan, 6-10 Jr. Radwan Bakkali, 6-2 Fr, JD Notae, and 6-4 Sr. Devin Harris. Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-6 So. DeAndre Dishman, 6-4 Fr. Dedric Boyd, 6-9 Jr. Nick Mayo, 5-11 So. Asante Gist, and 6-0 Sr. Dillon Avare.
Eastern Kentucky defeated Jacksonville 70-65 in an entertaining overtime battle. Eastern Kentucky led by 16 points with 6:37 left on the clock but Jacksonville picked up the defensive pressure and mounted a furious comeback to force overtime. The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes in the game. Eastern Kentucky shot 38.7% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Jacksonville turnovers. Jacksonville shot 35.8% from the field including five of 17 from beyond the arc. The Dolphins connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky with 22 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and six blocked shots. Mayo was seven of nine from the field including one of one from the three point line, and seven of eight free throws. Dedric Boyd added 14 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds. Asante Gist recorded 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. DeAndre Dishman added 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Jace Hogan led Jacksonville with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Cody Helgeland added 15 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds. JD Notae chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, and five steals. Devin Harris recorded seven points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
