Paul L. Dunbar coach Sara Van Horn started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Morgan McEldowney, 5-6 Jr. Lexus Edwards, 5-10 Jr. Lakeena Parks, 5-2 Jr. Jordin Fender, and 5-2 Jr. Kierra Muhammad.  Lexington Catholic acting head coach Nick Cann countered with 6-0 Sr. Alex Botkin, 5-10 Sr. Emily Johns, 6-0 Sr. Elizabeth Walton, 5-7 Sr. Bonnie Rhule, and 5-8 Jr. Octavia Wilson.

Lexington Catholic defeated Dunbar by a score of 54-51.  Lexington Catholic led 45-23 in the final quarter but Dunbar went on a 15-0 run to pull within seven; 45-38 with 3:24 left in the game.  Dunbar evntually pulled to within two; 53-51 and actually had a chance to tie the game on a three point shot at the buzzer which hit the rim and bounced off  to end this exciting contest.  LexCath was flawless for the first three and a half quarters scoring at will inside but Dunbar’s press was devastating in the final minutes.

Lexington Catholic shot 54.1% from the field including one of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 18 Dunbar turnovers.  Dunbar shot 29.5% from the field including zero of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs attempted 24 more shots (61-37) from the field than Lexington Catholic.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 15 of 19 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 31 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Alex Botkin led Lexington Catholic with 28 points, 18 rebounds, and four assists.  Botkin was 11 of 13 from the field and six of 10 from the free throw line.  Emily Johns added 13 points.

Morgan McEldowney led Dunbar with 13 points.  Jordin Fender added 11 points and Kierra Muhammad recorded 10 points, six rebounds, and six steals.  Lakeena Parks chipped in with six points and eight rebounds.

The inaugural Allgood Hoops/Fern Valley Hotel RUN-N-SHOOT Classic featured one of the nation’s top 5 teams (Clarksville, TN) and one of the country’s top 5 players in Bashaara Graves (Clarksville, TN) and both team and player put on quite a show for the fans at Louisville Male High School, KY on December 10^th.  Clarksville (TN) defeated Scott County (KY) by a score of 102-43 with Graves scoring 31 points and hauling in 28 rebounds.  Graves who has signed with Tennessee will easily be a McDonald’s All-American this season.  Eight teams representing three states participated.  Below were the top college prospects for the event which was directed by Jeff Allgood of Allgood Hoops.

Ryle coach Patti Oliverio started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Jenna Crittendon, 5-10 Jr. McKell Oliverio, 5-11 Fr. Haylee Smith, 5-7 Sr. Tyianna Douthit, and 5-6 Jr. Dawn Johnson.  Dunbar coach Sarah Van Horn countered with 5-9 Sr. Morgan McEldowney, 5-6 Jr. Lexus Edwards, 5-10 Jr. LaKeena Parks, 5-2 Jr. Jordin Fender, and 5-2 Jr. Kierra Muhammad.

Dunbar outscored Ryle 17-1 in the final quarter to earn a 54-43 victory.  Ryle led 37-22 in the third quarter but Dunbar rallied behind 12 points in the quarter by Morgan McEldowney to cut the deficit to five; 42-37 after thee quarters.  Dunbar dominated the final quarter as Ryle’s Jenna Crittendon fouled out with 6:45 left in the game.  LaKeena Parks led the surge for Dunbar with eight points in the final quarter.

Dunbar shot 38.1% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 19 of 26 free throws.  Ryle shot 38.6% from the field including three of six from beyond the arc.  The Lady Raiders connected on six of 12 free throws.

Morgan McEldowney led Dunbar with 21 points including three three point baskets.  LaKenna Parks added 12 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals.

Jenna Crittendon led Ryle with 12 points.  McKell Oliverio added 11 points.

Anderson County raced out to a 25-7 first quarter lead on their way to a 61-34 victory over Tates Creek.  Anderson County shot 47.2% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Bearcats connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 12 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 33.3% from the field including one of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady commodores connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 16 rebounds, and scored five points off 11 Anderson County turnovers.

Eriel McKee led Anderson County with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Destiny Stewart added 16 points including four three point baskets.  Kali Whiteside also recorded 16 points.

Peyton Hisel led Tates Creek with 13 points and seven rebounds.  Oney Harrison added 11 points and Katie Pippen chipped in with 10 points and four steals.

Jazmine Richmond, and 5-7 Jr. Samantha Kinchen.

Russell County defeated Henry Clay by a score of 45-31.  Russell County shot 37.1% from the field including three of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Lakers connected on 16 of 25 free throws.  Henry Clay shot 29.3% from the field including two of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on five of 14 free throws.

Lee Ann Grider led Russell County with 19 points and 10 assists.  Madison Loy also recorded 19 points.

5-6 Fr. Destiny Carter led Henry Clay with 11 points.  Sydney Dunham added nine points.

Sarah Cooley, 5-4 Sr. Sarah Martin, and 5-7 So. Ken’yale Demus.

Lafayette utilized a good shooting night (53.2%) from the field in a 59-45 victory over Rockcastle County.  Lafayette shot 53.2% from the field including five of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Rockcastle County turnovers.  Rockcastle County shot 33.3% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rockets connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.

Sarah Cooley led Lafayette with 17 points and five rebounds.  Ken’yale Demus added 13 points including three three point baskets.  Sarah Martin also reached double figures with 10 points.  5-7 Sr. Aleisha Stiltner came off the bench to add nine points.

Michaela Hunter led Rockcastle County with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Kadi Cobb added 13 points and eight rebounds.  Alexis Chasteen chipped in with nine points.

Kayla Rankin, 5-6 Jr. Whitney Back, and 5-7 Sr. Tamara Crawford.  Bryan Station coach Donna Murphy countered with 5-10 So. Victoria McCoy, 5-9 So. Lakeysha Stennis, 6-1 Jr. Hallie Crumbie, 5-5 Sr. Detierra Carpenter, and 5-8 Jr. Serena Sandusky.

Perry County Central’s 1-2 punch of Kayla Rankin (30 points) and Kendall Noble (20 points) proved to be too much for the Lady Defenders today as the Lady Commodores earned a 67-52 victory.  Perry County Central shot 43% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Commodores connected on 17 of 32 free throws.  Bryan Station shot 34.5% from the field including one of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Defenders connected on 11 of 20 free throws.

Kayla Rankin and Kendall Noble led the victors with 30 and 20 points respectively.  Tamara Crawford added 12 points on four three point baskets.

Serena Sandusky led Bryan Station with 14 points.  5-6 Jr. Labianca Frazier added 11 points.
