North Laurel vs. Scott County (Girls)

North Laurel coach Eddie Mahan Jr. started the following lineup: 5-10 7th Grade Halle Collins, 5-8 So. Emily Sizemore, 5-11 Sr. Isabel Gray, 5-7 So. Hailee Valentine, and 5-7 Sr. Gracie Jervis.  Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 6-0 Jr. Kenady Tompkins, 6-0 Jr. Kaylie Wise, 6-3 Sr. Malea Williams, 5-5 Sr. Morgan DeFoor, and 5-6 So. Emma Price.

 

North Laurel outscored Scott County 27-9 in the final quarter to earn an 88-68 road victory over the Cardinals.  North Laurel shot 41.5% from the field including eight of 22 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 36 of 43 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 17 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 36.1% from the field including five of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored six points off nine North Laurel turnovers.

 

Halle Collins led North Laurel with 23 points including four three point baskets, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Hailee Valentine added 21 points including 14 of 16 free throws, eight rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Emily Sizemore recorded 17 points including 15 of 18 free throws, four rebounds, and four assists.  Gracie Jervis chipped in with 15 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. 

 

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 19 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.  5-6 Fr. Tyra Young added 11 points and three rebounds.  Malea Williams recorded 10 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Kenady Tompkins chipped in with 10 points.
