Eastern Kentucky University vs. Mercer (Women)

Eastern Kentucky University coach Samantha Williams started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Bria Bass, 5-8 Sr. Shay Solomon, 6-2 Jr. I’Liyah Green, 5-6 Jr. Teri Goodlett, and 5-7 Jr. D’Ayra Davis.  Mercer coach Susie Gardner countered with 5-11 Jr. Shannon Titus, 5-9 Fr. Jill Harris, 6-0 So. Jaron Dougherty, 5-6 So. Amoria Neal-Tysor, and 5-6 Fr. Jordan McLaughlin.

 

Bria Bass hit the winning three point basket with 46 seconds left in overtime to give Eastern Kentucky a 61-60 victory over Mercer.  Mercer led Eastern Kentucky 49-47 late in the game but Teri Goodlett hit a basket in the paint with 11 seconds to go in regulation to tie the score and force overtime.  The score was tied six times and there were eight lead changes in the game.

 

Eastern Kentucky shot 36.7% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on nine of 21 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored eight points off 18 Mercer turnovers.  Mercer shot 27% from the field including two of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Bears connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 24 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

6-1 Jr. Samari Mowbray led Eastern Kentucky with 19 points including four three point baskets and six rebounds.  Bria Bass added 12 points including two three point baskets and 12 rebounds.  I’Liyah Green recorded 10 points and 12 rebounds.

 

Jaron Dougherty led Mercer with 15 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.  Jordan McLaughlin added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Shannon Titus recorded 13 points, 14 rebounds, and seven steals.  Jill Harris chipped in with eight points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
