Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 5-9 So. Lindi DeBilzan, 5-9 Jr. Tekiya Garr-Carter, 5-11 Sr. Kiara Pankins, 5-6 Jr. Terri Abram, and 5-9 Jr. Caroline Bennett. Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Nick Runyon countered with 5-10 Sr. Autumn Herriford, 5-7 So. Cheyenne Fullwood, 5-8 Jr. Peyton Humphreys, 5-5 Jr. Mashayla Cecil, and 5-7 Jr. Anaiyah Cotton.
Lafayette captured the district championship with a 67-58 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar tonight. Lafayette shot 37% from the field including three of nine from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on 24 of 31 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 21 Dunbar turnovers. Dunbar shot 36.4% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bulldogs connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Lafayette turnovers.
Terri Abram led Lafayette with 20 points including seven of 10 free throws and two blocked shots. Tekiya Garr-Carter added 13 points and four rebounds. Kiara Pankins chipped in with 10 points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots. 5-10 So. Macey Goff recorded nine points and five rebounds. Caroline Bennett added eight points and four rebounds. Lindi DeBilzan recorded seven points, nine rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, and four steals.
Autumn Herriford led Dunbar with 16 points and four rebounds. Mashayla Cecil added 15 points including three three point baskets, four assists, and four steals. Peyton Humphreys also scored 15 points. Cheyenne Fullwood recorded six points and six rebounds. Anaiyah Cotton chipped in with four points and eight rebounds.
