Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Jajuante Carpenter, 5-10 Jr. Eric Powell, 6-1 Sr. Cameron Greenup, 5-9 Sr. Chris Wharton, and 5-10 So. Evan Dreux. Henry Clay coach Daniel Brown countered with 6-3 Jr. Justin Mitchell, 6-1 Jr. Jalen Williams, 6-4 Jr. Andreus Green, 5-8 Sr. Brian Tribble, and 5-9 Sr. Brendon Ford.
Chris Wharton scored the winning basket to give Lafayette a 59-58 victory over Henry Clay. There were five lead changes and three ties in this game. Lafayette led Henry Clay 33-21 in the third quarter but Henry Clay rallied to make it close. Lafayette shot 44.7% from the field including nine of 25 from the three point line. The Generals connected on 16 of 27 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Henry Clay turnovers. Henry Clay shot 42.2% from the field including six of 15 from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 15 Lafayette turnovers.
Chris Wharton led Lafayette with 16 points including two three point baskets and three assists. Eric Powell added 12 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds. Cameron Greenup recorded nine points and four rebounds. Jajuante Carpenter chipped in with seven points and six assists. 6-1 Jr. Devontae Hayes pulled down seven rebounds.
6-0 So. Keaston Brown led Henry Clay with 21 points including four three point baskets and seven of seven free throws. Andreus Green added 18 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.
