Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 6-4 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus. Boyle County coach Greg Edwards countered with 5-7 Fr. Marlee Smith, 5-7 Jr. Dee Foster, 6-0 Fr. Cammi Holton, 5-5 Sr. Hannah Harris, and 5-6 Sr. Chelsea Gill.
Lafayette defeated Boyle County by a score of 60-39. Lafayette shot 44.7% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Boyle County turnovers. Lafayette held a 16-6 advantage in second effort points. Boyle County shot 30.8% from the field including two of 10 from beyond the arc. The Lady Rebels connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored six points off 21 Lafayette turnovers.
5-9 8th grade Kiara Pankins led Lafayette with 20 points and six rebounds. Pankins was seven of 11 from the field including two of three from beyond the arc and four of four from the three point line. Dee Givens added 12 points and four steals. Ashanti Thomas recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds. Sarah Cooley chipped in with nine points and 11 rebounds. Ken’yale Demus added eight points and six assists.
Marlee Smith led Boyle County with 10 points. Hannah Harris added nine points and 5-7 Jr. Lauren Richards chipped in with seven points.
