Bryan Station  vs.  Lafayette (Girls)

Bryan Station coach Donna Murphy started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Serena Sandusky, 5-8 Sr. DeShante Clay, 5-10 Jr. Victoria McCoy, 5-6 Sr. La’bianca Frazier, and 5-6 So. Zaria Ellery.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 5-9 8th grade Kiara Pankins, 6-4 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus.

Lafayette led 56-40 early in the final quarter and 60-48 with four minutes remaining in the game but Bryan Station rallied for a 67-64 victory.  Bryan Station shot 38.6% from the field including five of 20 from the three point line.  The Lady Defenders connected on 18 of 23 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 25 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 48.9% from the field including six of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 15 Bryan Station turnovers.

Serena Sandusky led Bryan Station with 22 points, four rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  5-9 Jr. Lakeysha Stennis added 16 points and DeShante Clay chipped in with 11 points.

Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 20 points, 17 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Dee Givens added 13 points and Ken’yale Demus chipped in with 11 points.  5-6 Jr. Shirlisa Demus also reached double figures with 10 points.  Kiara Pankins recorded eight points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
