Scene 6 *The Matrix*

(This scene finds us with Jessica and Kevin who stand in a silent building. Their footsteps echo throughout and we soon realize that our characters have ended up in the movie, The Matrix. Kevin is dressed in a long, leather trenchcoat as well as Jessica)

Kevin: (looks to Jessica) Where are we?

Jessica: (looking around in awe) Oh my god! He wouldn’t do this.

Kevin: Do what? Where are we?

Jessica: This is my favorite movie… The Matrix.

(With this word we see the whole set they stand in than it comes back to the two)

Kevin: (laughs) I’ve seen this movie.

Jessica: Good, than you know what’s coming.

Kevin: Know what’s coming? This is just a set, isn’t it?

(At the end of these words we hear a blast of bullets ricocheting off the walls, leaving pieces of it on the dark marble floor. Kevin catches his breath and looks to Jessica)

Kevin: This is the part where we run, right?

Jessica: (nods and gulps) That, or die cause I don’t know a thing about guns except that they can kill.

Kevin: Yeah… I suppose I could agree with that.

(We see “both” run in what looks like Matrix view with jerky shots and spinning. Jessica is forced to run up along a wall and she releases a note of pain as she twists her ankle in the climb. She lands on the floor and we spin to see that everything has frozen except for her. Edward appears there as if he were made of liquid)

Edward: I’m really very glad you picked this movie to obsess over, Jess.

Jessica: (gasps and lifts her hurting ankle from the floor) What the hell do you want with us?

Edward: (low growl) I want the key.

Jessica: What… key?

Edward: You have it and I want it and if I don’t get what I want there’s no telling what I could do.

(Edward liquefies into the floor and everything resumes which sends Kevin to her till they are racing into the elevator)

Jessica: Edward is an agent.

Kevin: Whose Edward?

Jessica: I’ll just say the bad guy and we really have to get out of here, before anything else happens…

(We hear a sardonic laugh, echoing around Kevin and Jessica and before they can escape there is a shot through the doors of the elevator. BLACKOUT on Jessica caught in a scream)
