Eating Facilities
Inns, taverns, and manor halls

Inns and taverns were the most common grounds for people to assemble for a meal, besides the manor hall for celebrations. Inns, while not appearing until the High Middle Ages, offered room, board, food, and drink. Depending on the wealth of the innkeeper, inns sometimes served meat and fruit, but mostly bread, coffee, and beans. Taverns were social gathering places, serving mostly wine, and often ale and beer and other drinks. Taverns were also a common site for prostitution, gambling, and singing.
