Villa La Passione - Skala Eressos One of my favorite villages is SKALA ERESSOS in the west, situated in a dramatic and the most beautiful bay of the island, and with a gorgeous beach (on one part nudism is allowed). In this village you can totally and completely relax, because it is far away from all the noise that you find in thet tourist centres. The streets of the town of Skala Eressos which border the beach are closed to all cars, making it quiet and safe to walk. More importantly you do not have to worry about the safety of your children. The town ends at the beach road but cafes and restaurants have built bamboo covered decks that extend out on to the sand so you can sit in the shade and watch your kids playing in the Aegean and not be more than a few feet away. You will find me with the always good spiritted and helpful Nikolaos, who rents out a house on a very quiet location in the village, close to the beach. In this house there are three large apartments, each with a minimum of two bedrooms, and they all have a a very cozy veranda. All you really need to bring is your toothbrush, because the apartments come with all the luxuery and style imaginable: not just airconditioning and satelite tv, but also a toaster, a coffee machine and a completely utelized kitchen. You just wish you permanently "lived" there, and you quietly dream away and think it's your own house ;). Nikolaos doesn't care if you come alone, as a couple or with a whole group, and the prices are so good, there is no need to go anywhere else, because starting at 65 euro (in 2007) you already have a complete house that can accommodate 5 people. VATERA BEACH - MADONNA STUDIOS AND APARTMENTS
Madonna is centrally located, 150 meters from the Vatera beach at its most central point, the signs junction. From Madonna it will take you 2 min. to walk to the beach and 5 min. to walk to the shops, tavernas and bars, lining the esplanade. Travelling on the main road from Vrisa to Vatera and just before you reach the beach, there is a small crossroads. You turn left and the property rises before you, holding a vantage point over the bay of Vatera. It is sign posted with a large reflector sign at the right side of the cross roads, with a red arrow pointing to your left, clearly visible as you approach the last 100 m to the beach, and smaller signs at the border and gate of the property. You just cannot miss it now, even at night! This attractive complex opened in 1990 and is run as a family business. To start with it operated as self-catering accommodation for independent Greek and International holidaymakers. In the late 90?s it experienced a very successful three-year period with a well-known UK Tour Operator, but for the last five years a conscious choice was made to revert to its old client group of Independent Holidaymakers and it has done so very successfully. The property has been constantly improved over the years, to keep up with modern trends and requirements. As from late 2004 it has the facilities to provide the Hotel type services of reception, breakfast room, licensed bar, Internet Caf?sale of tobacco, guides, maps, postcards, stamps safety boxes in the rooms and as always nothing is too much trouble for the obliging English speaking owners, Dimitra and Vaios. Anaxos is easy and low cost for somebody to reach while he can use the daily scheduled time table of bus services from Mytilene to Anaxos or during his vacations he can visit the nearest villages to Anaxos which are Petra and Mithimna with the local bus services or by using a taxi. Anaxos village is the ideal destination for visitors that they really want to enjoy their vacations because is a place that is not effected from mass tourism and is counted as PURE place. Provides tranquility, stillness and rest. The fantastic clean water of the sea and the sandy beach (which is the best of the area) 1 km long, will make you restless on watching the sunset or during the day the joy of the reflections from the sunbeams on the beach will make you love being here. The blue flag that this beach possess is a proof of these been mentioned before. As far as food and beverages are concerned the variety of taverns (with fine fish) and cafes will fulfill your gastronomic anxieties, always with low cost.  LESBOS ISLAND - CAPTAINS VIEW - MOLYVOS Situated in the heart of the village of Molyvos (also known as Mythimna) is Captains View, a beautifully restored stone cottage retaining Molyvos tradition and with an eye for both Greek style and luxurious detail. It is a couple of minutes from the market, the bakery and a well stocked grocery. Imagine newly baked bread, croissants or baguettes and fresh fruit and yoghurt and local honey for breakfast on the balcony with a beautiful panorama of the bay of Molyvos, with its yachts, small colourful boats, distant islands and mountains, and just below, the tiles of the old village roofs. The house is sheltered with cool corners and the a private balcony to work on that sun tan, or just watch the sun set. There's full air conditioning, so if the weather gets too hot you can escape to indoor comfort. Captains View is a and relaxing house with plenty of space. It is ideal for a family with three or four children or two couples sharing. It has two double bedrooms downstairs, each with en-suite bathroom - one has a big spa bath, the other a shower. Built-in cupboards provide plenty of drawers and hanging space for clothes. The settee in the living room upstairs can be folded out to provide additional sleeping accommodation, and above the kitchen and dining area is an attic den for siestas, reading and TV watching. The sitting area in this den can also convert to provide still more sleeping accommodation. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen has a full sized cooker, a microwave oven, a spacious fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery and all the kitchen utensils required for self-catering. A small utility room houses an automatic washing machine. In the living area adjacent to the kitchen there?s an eight place traditional wooden dining table. Captains View can accommodate 6 people. The two who sleep in the loft must be youngish as one can not stand up right and must go down stairs to the bathroom.
