The village and the beach of Skala Kallonis on the island of Lesbos in Greece

The village of Skala Kalonnis is an authentic Greek fishermans village situated in the Bay of Kalloni in the south of Lesbos island. The village has a port and a beach and it is the tourist center of Kalloni. The water is shallow and almost never rough, and the beaches are very sandy and have all the facilities. They are surrounded by tamarisk trees. There are several restaurants along the shore and in the town square, along with supermarkets, hotels, and tourist shops. The village is a center for sardine fishing and the fishing fleet is colorful. The bay of Kaloni is also a great place for wind-surfing. Coming from the direction of Skala Eressos it's easy to miss the sign to Skala Kallonis, because it is so unclear. Before you know it you have passed it and you find yourself in the buzz of Kallonis, one of the most confusing villages on Lesbos if you want to lose directions.

Akti Cafe / Snackbar - Skala Kallonis
Lesbos restaurants

The Akti Restaurant is situated on the little square in the centre of Skala Kallonis and overlooks the harbour. They have quite comfortable seats and the friendliest service. We tried several dishes at this restaurant and everything came out really good. The cappuchino is a bit on the pricy side, but other things on the menu are quite reasonably priced, like their delicous breakfasts (which came with slices of cake, cappuchino and a big plate of bacon and eggs, vegetables, bread, and orange juice) or their pizzas. They serve all sorts of snacks, coffees and cocktails. The Akti restaurant also gets my award for the cleanest and best equiped toilet on the whole island of Lesbos.

Verdict: highly recommended, 9 out of 10
