Eastern Kentucky coach Dan McHale started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Jarelle Reischel, 6-5 Jr. Javontae Hawkins, 6-9 Fr. Nick Mayo, 6-1 So. Paul Jackson, and 6-2 Jr. Isaac McGlone. Austin Peay coach Dave Loos countered with 6-6 Jr. Kenny Jones, 6-5 Sr. Khalil Davis, 6-8 Jr. Assane Diop, 6-1 Jr. Terrell Thompson, and 6-2 So. Josh Robinson.
Eastern Kentucky defeated Austin Peay by a score of 79-70. The score was tied twice and there were eight lead changes in the game. Eastern Kentucky University shot 50% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Austin Peay turnovers. Austin Peay shot 42.6% from the field including six of 20 from beyond the arc. The Governors connected on 18 of 32 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored five points off 14 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Javontae Hawkins led a balanced Eastern Kentucky scoring attack with 18 points and five rebounds. Jarelle Reischel added 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. 6-7 Sr. Ja’Mill Powell recorded 13 points and four rebounds. Paul Jackson chipped in with 12 points, three rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Nick Mayo also scored 12 points.
Khalil Davis led Austin Peay with 16 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, and four assists. 6-8 Sr. Chris Horton added 15 points and 13 rebounds. Kenny Jones recorded 13 points and eight rebounds. Josh Robinson chipped in with 11 points. 6-5 Fr. Jared Savage also reached double figures with 10 points including two three point baskets.
