Madison Central vs. Lexington Catholic (Boys)

Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. John Williams, 6-1 Sr. Grant Brockman, 6-6 Fr. Isaiah Cozart, 5-10 Sr. Terique Miller, and 6-1 Sr. Dakota Begley.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Jr. Luke Johnson, 6-2 Sr. JJ Ogbogu, 6-6 Jr. Peter Whitman, 5-11 Sr. Donovan Morris, and 5-10 Sr. Max Lundergan.

 

Madison Central won a double overtime thriller by a score of 69-66 over Lexington Catholic.  The score was tied six times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Madison Central led 54-49 with 1:21 left in regulation but Lexington Catholic fought back and Luke Johnson scored on a put back to tie the game at 54-54 and force overtime.  Lexington Catholic trailed 62-58 in the first overtime but Johnson again came to the rescue to tie the game at 62-62 and force a second overtime.  Madison Central finally ended the second overtime with a 7-4 advantage in the final overtime stanza.

 

Madison Central shot 45.8% from the field including nine of 19 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 12 points off seven Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 33.8% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc.  Lexington Catholic attempted 26 more shots (74-48) from the field than Madison Central.  The Knights connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Terique Miller led Madison Central with 33 points including seven three point baskets, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  Grant Brockman added 14 points including two three point baskets.  Dakota Begley recorded eight points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  John Williams chipped in with six points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.  Isaiah Cozart pulled down six rebounds, and blocked six shots.

 

Luke Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 31 points including three three point baskets, 13 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Peter Whitman added 18 points and 12 rebounds.
