Part One - The Womb - The Water Visualization

Monday, June 23, 2003

I've been working with this exercise for about 2 weeks now, and I haven't had too many problems with it.  I experimented with this one a few different ways (in the tub, my son's kiddie pool, in bed) and found the best way for me to do it was to use the Grounding Exercise as a launching board for the Water visualization.

I started by laying on the bed (I've gotten better with the Earth Visualization heh) and moved into the water exercise.  I did my breathing and as I exhaled, I let the waves slowly carry me out to the sea.  I actually enjoyed this experience and I felt like I was being held up by lots of hands.  I was stark raving nekkid in my visualization and had long red hair.  When I spiraled down into the water, was the most interesting because I visualized myself turning into a mermaid.  The hardest part was taking my first breath underwater.  But I was able to over come the problem quickly and soon was enjoying my underwater frolic.

When I burst through the skin on the water, I felt like Ariel from Disney's The Little Mermaid™ when she first gets her legs and Sebastian and Flounder help her to the surface - she takes that great big breath as she breaks through the water... it was awesome!

I've always liked the water and The Little Mermaid is definitely one of my favorite movies, so I'm not surprised that most of my visualization was mermaid flavored.  This one by far is the easiest of the visualizations so far.

Part Two - Astral Consciousness - the Air Visualization

Tuesday, July 1, 2003

I started working with the Air Visualization last week, and the first few attempts were met with nominal success.  I was able to “float” out of my body, but not able to go anywhere.  I figure this is because of some inner fear that I may have had.

I persisted however, and finally decided to try experimenting with the visualization… so I allowed my mind to control the visualization and let it take me where I needed to go.  This by far worked better for me.

So after I was able to float out of my body, I decided not to try and force myself to turn around and see my body laying beneath me… I think that is what may have creeped me out the most.  Allowing my mind to take control of my journey, I floated away.  It was daytime in the visualization (even though I did this at night-time) and I was taken to my maternal grandma’s house.  But it was different than it is now.  It was the way it looked 10 years ago, before the land developers came and cut down all the forests surrounding her house.  So the trees, flowers and other things of nature were in full bloom and in all their former glory.  I have a paralyzing fear of heights, but in this visualization, I had no fear.  I was “flying” around with no fear and I wasn’t even concerned if I fell or not.

So after a bit of Peter Pan fun, I found myself before my special tree.  The tree that I spent countless hours at during my childhood, and it was like coming home for me.  The air fairly hummed with energy and I sat once more in its welcoming branches, feeling the wind in my hair and laughing away my cares.

After a while, I said goodbye to my tree and flew back to my body feeling content and at peace with the loss of my tree. (I’m a closet tree-hugger shh… don’t tell anyone… it’s a secret.  I was really broken up when my tree got cut down.)

Nice visualizations, especially the Air Visualization.  Before you post to the main list, though, could you talk about how you felt after the Water Visualization?  Maybe just flesh it out more, explain to the group if you felt different or reborn?  Can't wait to see where you go with the Fire Visualization!

The Water Visualization was fun for me because I got to be a mermaid… teehee!  It was a little strange at first to be a mermaid, but I enjoyed the fantasy aspect of it and found it easier to maneuver through the water that way, but I didn’t necessarily feel reborn or even really different, just pure, like I had taken a really good long bath.  I felt clean, and my hair was all glossy and thick.  It was a good feeling, especially since I tend to be a little crazy about cleanliness, if my skin could handle it, I would probably bathe several times a day.
