Welcome to this issue of Survivor Haven and thank you for your patience for I know it has been slow in coming.
Due to unavoidable circumstances, Survivor Haven will no longer have a monthly update. Until further notice, it will be a bi-monthly endeavor. We are by no means "closing our doors," simply utilizing the resources we have in a more efficient manner.
It is with great joy we announce Survivor Haven’s frequent contributor Susan Maree Jeavons is back at Suite 101.com as contributing editor of Child Abuse and Recovery
Tenna Perry also has new work at Suite 101. This month’s article Conflictcontinues the saga that began in last issue’s, Tenna’s Excuse.
Heidi Kaminski returns to Survivor Haven with her look into seperating ourselves, hypnosis and finding peace in Chicken Dinner
Sherry Long is a newcomer to Survivor Haven and her poem takes us and that
inner child on the
"underground railroad" to healing.Leaving
Connie Spector's touching poem of tells how the love of a friend can bring hope to a survivor. No Longer
Survivor Haven was fortunate to receive several poetic submissions by one particular author, Stephanie Bennett. This month we are featuring two of them that reflect (at least to this survivor) the vast difference in emotional well being in different times of the recovery process.
In Stephanie's first poem she gives the reader a look into the darker side of being a survivor. It is The Sea written in 1999.
Stephanie Bennett's second poem tells of how she has found peace in, I Set My Soul Free, written just a couple years later.
The recent upheaval in the Catholic Church has begotten two opinion pieces that we wanted to share with you. These are not meant as a underhanded jab at the Catholic faith, simply a response to the actions of certain persons in the church hierarchy.
Margaret Helmstetter's opinion piece was sent in the form of an email to me with a subject line of, Can I write a response for you on this article...pleeeeeese (lacking a better title by either of us, it has remained the same)
Susan Maree Jeavons' recent Suite101 article has also touched on the so called church scandal. Her outlook takes a slightly different look on what the true scandal is in The Catholic Scandal
It is with great pleasure we announce the return of Carol Huber to our ranks of contributors. This month we have two poems by her.
Carol discusses her ways towards healing in Enjoying The Peace
Carol's second, which is sure to touch a definate cord in so many survivors is I Am Screaming Inside
