I’m Screaming Inside
By: Carol Huber
I'm screaming inside
But nothing comes out
It's locked away
Along with my past
If only I had a key
If I could just scream
If I could just let go of all the fear
And the rage
I could remember - maybe?
Maybe, I could let go
I learned how to cry
Finally
Sometimes
I learned how to talk
Finally
Most of the time
How to tell people when I'm unhappy
Or afraid or angry
I've learned how to do so many things...
If I could just get this scream out that rises up
only so far and then dies away incomplete
Out! Out in the open with you
But
I'm afraid I'll frighten someone
I'm afraid I'll make somebody angry
I'm so damned repressed
But I really do want to scream
If I could just remember
If I could just let it go
If I could...
If...
