Enjoying the Peace
By:Carol Huber
Yesterday I was anesthetized
So much pain I couldn’t stand it
So I more or less blanked it out
Decisions made have consequences
I must live with them
I said good-bye
There’s too much pain
And too much rage
To be around him anymore
I need time to deal with my past
Time to hate
Time to heal
Time to remember and then let go
Sooner or later
The hatred must stop
for my healing
His healing is his problem
and he denies everything
When the hatred is gone
So too shall be the fear
He will no longer be able to hurt me
Yesterday I was anesthetized
Frozen by guilt and fear of retribution
Terrified of making a mistake
I did nothing wrong
but that’s never mattered before either
Old programming’s so hard to overcome
For now I’m OK
Right now, I can write again
This now I’m able to move forward some more
Today, I’m enjoying the peace
