Can I Write A Response For You On This Article
By:Margaret HelmstetterCardinal Law stepped up and opened his mouth once again. Once again filth and proof that he is unfit to manage a garbage dump poured forth. He used his attorney, but the filth came from him. Filth that shows he doesn't have respect for people, adults, children or the church he claims to serve.
When he agreed, and we know that attorneys can only act when their clients agree, to removing responsibility from his shoulders to the shoulders of a 6-year-old boy, he showed his true colors. The colors of a man who is so puffed up with the so-called authority he has that he won't and can't accept he made a serious mistake. A mistake that damaged more not a 6-year-old but also every other victim and their families. The color I was taught was cowardly, blaming others for your errors.
Not only does his cowardly behavior spill filth, it continues the cycle of abuse that he feels is normal. Perhaps his actions prior to becoming a Cardinal should be looked at, although I am sure he is glad the statute of limitations has run through the hourglass. When a person goes out of their way to condone, and perpetuate the abuse that Cardinal Law has then he is a guilty as the one who sexually assaulted a defenseless child. A child who looked to the church for guidance and protection.
The depth of depravity to which man will sink is shown by the words of blame being laid upon an innocent child's shoulders. Nowhere in the Bible, which is the guidebook for the church, does it say, blame others. Neither does the Bible condone abuse, and destruction of young lives. The book the church recognizes as the word of GOD. One of the basic tenet's of the Christian faith are to love one another, to protect each other as you would your brother or sister. Where is Cardinal Law's protection for an injured 6-year-old boy? Where was his protection for other injured children and adults?
Not only did he condone the abuse indirectly, he added to it. How many of us could blame a newborn for the stitches his mother needed after his birth? How can anyone blame a 6 year old for trusting someone what was held up to him as trust worthy? The fact that he says through his attorney that a child's negligence in trusting those he was told were trustworthy is more abuse. The fact he can blame the parents for allowing the abuse to happen. Excuse me, they didn't allow it, they were told and directed by the belief they held in the church that a priest, and his superiors were trustworthy. The child was not the only victim; Cardinal Law raped the church, the parents and the other members of the congregation.
How long before someone steps up and tells the Cardinal to shut up and think? How long before his abuse of the victims is stopped? It will take the people of the church standing up, united and firm telling the church authorities that they will no longer tolerate this. When the victims are no longer willing to be victimized, then it will end.
