This is a new edit, and is much improved quality. This edit replaces the original Carly & Jason #1, so please review the description below for the current content of this edit. Early Carly Edits:
Early Carly #1 April 9 - September 9, 1996 8 hrs DVD #1A At the PC bus station a new girl arrives in town. At the phone booth, she tears out a few pages from the phonebook. Eventually she finds herself by Rosie's where she ingratiates herself to Ruby. turns out that she came from Florida too. She rents a room. Carly chats with Lois about planning to stay in PC and maybe getting into nursing. Lois tells her about Monica and says Monica is currently looking for volunteers to staff a new project. Carly shows up at GH to see Monica who's in surgery, so she waits in the lobby, area. Carly stops Monica and tells her she's really big admirer of her. Carly tells Monica that her mother died of breast cancer (Lois had filled her in) and how she has volunteered at a Wellness Center in Florida and she would like to volunteer to work with Monica at the wellness center to gain experience for her nursing application. Carly asks Amy how many doctors are associated with the Wellness Center. Amy answers that there are no doctors permanently assigned, but they are readily available. Amy continues to tell Carly that there's only a therapist at the Wellness Center. She's surprised that Carly didn't know that because she was working with a Wellness Group in Florida. Carly covers her mistake by saying that the groups could work differently and she's just nervous about doing a good job. Tony and Dr. Dorman are in the lounge arguing about the usefulness of a medical program. Steve comes over and joins the discussion. Carly asks Amy who the three are and she starts by pointing out Steve. Before Amy can finish her sentence, Carly is off to join the group. Carly introduces herself to Steve and they discuss how wonderful Monica is. Steve tells her he wants to grab a cup of coffee before his next meeting, but Carly volunteers to get it for him. As she goes off to get the coffee, Tony asks her to take some magazines to a patient. She blows him off saying that she is on an important errand for Dr. Hardy. Carly returns with the coffee and Steve and Amanda are talking about the meeting being 20 minutes late to start. Carly jumps in and says it's her fault. She gathers everyone together and starts the meeting, while Amy looks on. Monica arrives at the hospital and Steve comments about what a good job Carly has done. Carly sees Monica and steps aside and lets Monica take over. Bobbie joins Tony who comments about the job Carly did with the meeting. Monica thanks Carly for handling the meeting. She calls Tony over and introduces Carly. They have a somewhat awkward meeting then Tony leaves. Monica notices and Carly explains what happened earlier. Carly goes off to get a brochure for Amanda Barington. Tony and Carly meet again in the hallway. Carly apologizes and tells him that she took the magazines to his patient. She leaves but says that she's sure they'll see each other again. Monica introduces Carly to Bobbie, Bobbie is distracted and Carly is disappointed. Carly sandbags Amy by getting Monica to vouch for her to Audrey about a job in physical therapy. Carly is talking to Audrey when Amy and Alan come up and she meets Alan. Just then there is an emergency, a high school band was practicing the Star Wars theme preparatory to going on the field at half-time and apparently were overcome with carbon monoxide. Chaos results, and for a few minutes Carly looks stunned that hospitals might actually have sick people. She goes to the lab for Monica, who comments "Carly is a life saver" to Amy's eye-rolling disgust. Then to Trauma One with Alan's records, where she helps by holding the sousaphone for Norman Winslow, who is smitten. When the band director keels over, Carly helps with student Alexis' hyperventilation. Bobbie chats about Tony's guitar, and about her kids. Later Carly sucks up to Amy, who isn't having any, and to Tony, who loves to hear about how musical he is. Carly is standing around, getting on Amy's nerves, attempting to make light of the job she stole from Amy. Bobbie shows up late with Lucas in tow because Betty had car problems. She asks Amy to keep an eye on the lad, and an annoying Carly overhears every single solitary word. Amy turns her back for a second, and Carly moves in for the kill, again. She totally takes over Lucas' babysitting. When Amy tries to intervene, Carly bubbles how much she loves children, etc, and Bobbie is in her debt as she relinquishes her child into the hands of a virtual stranger. Carly then pumps poor Lucas for the family secrets, including asking him to draw a map of the house. Carly hears about Monica's surprise party and offers to help keep her occupied till party time, she then receives an invite. Monica Has a Surprise Birthday Party At the Q mansion, Alan, who has been peeking out the window, announces that Monica has arrived. Everybody jumps out and yells "Surprise!" Carly beams when Tony tells her that Lucas has a big-time crush on her. Bobbie comes up and thanks Carly; she tells her it meant a lot to Monica to have her there. Then Carly tells Bobbie that she is just what Carly aspires to be. Bobbie promises to help Carly become just as pathetic as she is. As Monica's party breaks up, Carly feigns modesty while accepting kudos for her role in pulling off such a successful surprise. At Jake's, Carly is dancing suggestively in front of the jukebox to a Melissa Etheridge song. Carly's flirtatious behavior draws the attention of Jason and another man on an adjoining barstool. Carly is obviously attracted to Jason, and eyes him as he watches her dance. She goes up to the bar and stands next to Jason and orders a beer. One of the other guys in the bar asks her to dance. Jason watches them intently. He goes over to shoot some pool, still watching Carly intently, and the looks between them heated. His interest in Carly is obvious yet he doesn't approach her. Finally she goes up to him, "Is this a private game or can anyone play?" He tells her, "Its your quarter". She tells him she doesn't take favors why don't they "lag for it" (I'm guessing this means bet), he leans over and says something in her ear (my guess here is that it is something suggestive not appropriate for daytime!). They play pool with lots of physical interaction as a music montage. She kisses the back of his head. She tells him he doesn't have much to say, he responds, "Neither do you." Later, she asks him for one more game. He suggests another time, that he has a date with a sunrise. Carly is obviously disappointed. Carly appears at the brownstone with a gift for Bobbie. Explaining that she simply wanted to thank the nurse for all her help getting settled at the Wellness Center, Carly is pleased when her ploy pays off with an immediate invitation to join the Joneses for their belated Mother's Day dinner. Jason goes to the bar and rents a room upstairs. Carly's there, she stands by the jukebox and eyes Jason. A guy comes up and tries to hit on her, she joins him at a table. She tells the guy she has a sore neck and he starts rubbing her shoulders. She tells him to stop, Jason is watching their interaction. The guy gets aggressive with her and they have words. She walks away from him. She goes over to the pool table and starts to rack 'em up. Jason strolls over and slams down some money, he asks "Is this a private game or can anyone play?" She smiles at him. They play pool, she asks him where he went earlier. He challenges, "Why do you care?" She snarks back, "I don't!" She invites him, "Dance with me?" They slow dance to "Nobody Knows". She puts her hands up towards his face, he pulls her hands down and tells her he will see her around. She says, "yah maybe". Tony and Lucas are at Lucas' lemonade. Carly comes skating up and Tony and Carly chorus "what are you doing here?" Carly was supposed to meet Bobbie but B. has been delayed. She is about to leave, but Lucas wants her to stay, and maybe teach him how to skate. Tony hasn't had time. Carly talks Tony into coming along, too. Carly tells Lucas that girls go bananas over athletic guys, and we get to watch Felicia prove her right. Tony fell down. Carly and Tony banter about skating, to Bobbie's evident confusion. Carly enters Jake's wearing a slinky black dress. He is playing pool, she approaches him. She says about the pool game,"It'll cost you. A quarter." Jason cleverly asks "What will?". He leans over her, she teasingly asks him if he could stand any closer. Jason says he doesn't like games, she says okay. He says "My room's upstairs." She says "Good." He says "Let's go." They go up to Jason's room and have sex for the first time. They quite obviously used a condom (he tore the wrapper off with his teeth). The background music was "Obsession" by Animotion. Lucy arrives at the hospital to talk to Amy about being her personal dresser at the Nurse's Ball again this year. Amy reminds her that she's walked out on Lucy in the middle of the ball for the past two years. Lucy says, "This year will be different. It will be fun." Amy says no, but suggests Carly, who has just come out of the elevator. Amy calls Carly over and introduces her to Lucy. Amy goes on and on about Carly. She tells Lucy, "Carly has proven there's not enough she can do around this place." She tells Carly, "the dresser is a super important job" and says Lucy and Carly are a perfect match. Lucy explains the duties of dresser to Carly and Carly accepts the job. Bobbie tells Carly that a slot just opened in the nursing program. Audrey asks Carly if she's still interested. An excited Carly says there's nothing she'd rather do. Audrey tells her she hasn't been accepted yet; there is competition. Audrey asks if Carly has a copy of her high school transcript. Carly says no, but she could call and get it. Bobbie tells them she already called Carly's high school and they are electronically sending the transcript. This does not appear to be good news to Carly. Carly enters the record's room and discovers a guy already at the computer. She strikes up a conversation with him, then fakes a diabetic attack so that they guy will leave to go to get her some orange juice. When he leaves, she sits down at the computer, finds her high school transcript (with not difficulty) and proceeds to change her grades. Instead of B's and C's, she gives herself B's and A's. She saves the changed document then deletes the original file. Right then Tony comes in and sneaks up behind her. Unfortunately, he didn't see what she was doing. He was looking for the guy that had been there - he was preparing a report for him. Carly says he just stepped out and said he'd be back in a minute. Tony is going to the HMO meeting and invites Carly to the meeting. Bobbie tells Carly her application is all in order and she is officially a candidate for the nursing program. Carly indicates that money may be a problem, but she'll deal with that if she's accepted. Carly comes into Luke's club, looking for Luke. She asks Mike if he's Luke, and Mike says "Darlin', I'll be whoever you want me to be." He introduces himself. She has a white wine and they chat. Luke has headed to the bar for champagne. Mike introduces Carly. She mentions Florida, which makes Luke very suspicious. Jason comes in looking for Lily. He ignores Carly, as per her request. Tony and Bobbie are talking about the car bomb which killed both Lily and her unborn baby. Tony tries to comfort Bobbie but she is still very upset. She cries on Tony’s shoulder about how Lily never even got to see her own baby. As Bobbie is crying Carly interrupts with a question, she doesn’t realize she’s intruding. Carly apologizes for interrupting and offers to leave when Tony mentions that he actually has to go see a patient. Bobbie and Carly talk about Lily’s death and how sad it is loosing someone you love, they bond. Bobbie has to leave and thanks Carly for being so understanding and for listening. Bobbie walks into her office to find Tony there with a candlelight lunch. She thanks him profusely for his thoughtfulness and loving. Tony looks a little bewildered. Bobbie thanks Tony again for the wonderful lunch but has to leave. As she leaves Carly comes in. She reminds Tony about their hydrotherapy appointment and then presents Tony will the bill for the lunch. She says she could see that Bobbie was under a lot of stress and she knew this would be a nice touch and that he would have thought of this is he wasn’t so busy. Tony still says that they should tell Bobbie that she set it up because he doesn’t feel he should take credit for something he didn’t do but Carly won’t hear of it. Bobbie and Tony are talking to Audrey about how great the lunch was. Carly walks in and wishes everyone a nice afternoon and tells them that she’s leaving. As she gets on the elevator Tony says that they really have to do something nice for that girl. Bobbie enters Kelly's and finds Carly taking money out of the cash register. Carly explains that Ruby is such a generous woman and that she's leaving an IOU. After she leaves, Bobbie tells Ruby that she's nice to help Carly and give her a loan, and Ruby knows nothing about it. Carly overhears. Meanwhile, Lucy is outside selling T-shirts and raffle tickets for the Nurse's Ball. As voices rise outside, they go out to see what is going on, and it's Katharine and Lucy at it again, in a royal snit fit. While they are out, Carly sneaks an IOU into the cash register. Ruby agrees to let Lucy sell her t-shirts if she and Katherine can refrain from making a disturbance, and when she goes back inside, she finds the IOU. "But next time, you ask," she growls at Carly. Carly comes outside and gets sucked into their debate over what type of customers prefer Deception. Carly is bewildered by their ongoing snit fit and by being called "Connie" by Lucy. Lucy says to Katherine "You are as elite as that dirty money you inherited from Damian Smith," and Carly's ears perk up at the sound of the M word. Carly is sitting, looking depressed, and Bobbie comes over to see what's wrong, asks if it is still about the IOU. Carly says no, she's used to it, because she's always the outsider. Bobbie says she hopes that Carly doesn't feel like an outsider because they love her, she's part of the Jones family. Carly seems to mist up for real, takes Bobbie's hand and says she has just needed to hear that for a long time." Carly is cleverly watching all of this. Carly asks Tony for advice about an alcoholic patient of hers. Tony tells her it’s a hard disease to deal with and that admitting you have a problem is the first step. Carly tells Tony how she admires him for how he cares for patients and not just the money. They discuss the Nurses Ball and how she is going to be Lucy’s dresser, Tony’s act. Carly mentions that Lucy is a very single minded determined person. Tony agrees “she got me to marry her”. Carly is surprised since she thought she was married to Alan, Tony says they both were at one point. Carly mentions how its a special lady that can get the two of you and that she hopes that Lucy will tell Carly her secrets. At GH, AJ bumps into Carly. They start talking, how he’s been sober for 45 days and counting and he’s halfway to his goal, which is 90 meetings in 90 days. Carly tells him that’s great since the first and hardest step is admitting you have a problem. AJ wishes Alan and Monica could be as understanding and Carly seems surprised that they aren’t. AJ tells her that he’s the family screw up and Carly mentions that she thought it was Jason that broke his mothers heart. AJ says that was sorta my fault too and they start talking about Jason, and how they don’t know where he is, and how it doesn’t matter because Jason doesn’t care anyway. Carly can’t understand how that could be with a house like that and all that money. AJ tells her looks can be deceiving but she’s quick to say that with all of that it would make it much easier to deal with. Carly and AJ discuss sobriety, Jason and how their is nothing for Carly in Florida and she new she would never be really happy there. AJ says how it must be easier for a mother (discussing Monica) not to discuss or look for a child that they know is not there to find. Carly, looking distant, mentions she thinks the child should have a choice. AJ assures her that Jason has a choice. They say good-bye and Carly congratulates him on 45 days and counting. In our other Nurses' Ball story, Carly, like Cinderella, is hard at work trying to sort out Lucy's wardrobe. Lucy calls her "Karen" and "Charlie" at different times. Carly is polite to Lucy and only rolls her eyes behind Lucy's back a little bit. The Spencers arrive, and Carly goes over to Lucas, leans over him, and asks if he is scared about being on stage. Lucas covets Carly's Nurses' Ball tee shirt, Tony makes an admiring remark about the way Carly looks in the shirt, and then Carly takes Lucas over to get a shirt leaving Bobbie and Tony alone. Carly and Lucas talk about Lucas's "perfect little family." Later, Carly is going through a rack of costumes, and Bobbie approaches. Carly doesn't mind being Lucy's dresser, it's a chance to be around Lucy's gorgeous clothes. Since Carly will be backstage, it doesn't much matter what she wears. What about the party afterwards? Carly figures she will be too tired. Bobbie offers to lend her one of her dresses. Carly has a black boa around her neck. Bobbie approaches Carly and starts to run her hand through Carly's hair, Carly backs away quickly. As she moves forward, Bobbie remarks that, although Carly usually wears softer colors, basic black would be good on her too. Carly looks upset, she explains that she remembers talking about clothes with her mother. Bobbie remembers talking to BJ about clothes also; they agree that they miss it. Bobbie walks off, and Carly watches her, shaking her head. Lucy and Katherine both want Carly to dress them. Amy is gloating in the background. Bobbie lends Carly clothes. Lucas picks out the shortest sexiest dress, and Carly is changing into it when Tony blunders upon her, thinking it is Bobbie. When Bobbie can't dance because of Willis' dastardly deed, Carly will take her place, leaving Amy as dresser. Alan sings "Beautiful Girls" as the town arrives for the ball. Carly (filling in for the injured Bobbie), Tony, and Lucas perform a vaudevillian rendition of "Together Wherever We Go." Tony comments positively on Carly's dress which just happens to be one of Bobbie's. Lucy announces the death of Jon Hanley (Lee Mathis) and introduces singer Janis Ian who sings "When Angels Cry" while we see images of Robin, Stone, and other GH people dabbing the tears from their eyes. Mac talks briefly and warmly about Stone, then presents Robin with a section of quilt in Stone's honor, touchingly wrapping it around her. Robin, the keynote speaker, delivers a very emotional and impassioned plea for compassion and understanding for the victims of HIV. At the conclusion of her words, Jason, who was watching from the back, comes to the stage, picks her up, and carries her out. Carly looks on surprised and obviously disturbed at seeing Jason and Robin so close, possibly due to her sexual relationship with him and Robin's HIV positive status. Jason arrives at Jake's and Carly pouts and watches him cross the room. Mike compliments Jason on taking care of Robin and leaves. Carly comes to him and confronts him about the fact that she went to the Nurse's Ball and saw him carry Robin off the stage after her speech. Jason's response: "Yeah?" She gets angry and calls him some names, tries to slap him right there in the bar, says that if he is sleeping with someone with HIV, he should tell her about it. She asks if he is having sex with anyone besides Robin, and he says "I don't sleep with her." He asks what this is all about, since she set up the deal where they would just have sex and not tell each other anything about themselves. He indicates that he'd like to go up and have sex, and she laughs and follows him upstairs. Carly is in bed with Jason. Later, Jason decides to take a shower as Carly decides to go through his belongings. Jason catches her. He asks what she's doing, that they had an agreement and she helped set up the agreement. Carly tries to calm him down and he tells her "Don't touch me". Carly says its not like I can't find out who the guy who carried Robin off the stage is, he gets mad and tells her she can leave when she wants and he leaves. Luke asks Bobbie whatever happened to her search for her daughter, she says she dropped it. As Luke asks why did you drop it, Carly walks up. Carly sees Robin at the hospital and they start talking. Carly tells her how moving her speech was. Carly starts grilling Robin about Jason. Robin tells her that they respect their privacy and says she has to go. Carly is returning the dress, and informs Tony that she's worried about the Nurse's Program entrance examination. He gives her a role-playing dry run. She starts off with a "poor pathetic me my mother died" type story but Tony stops her, the board has heard that one before. Don't use nursing as a form of therapy. Carly shows how quickly she can think on her feet by changing the story to one of how she saw her mother had no inner resources and how she herself wants to get somewhere on her own, not just because of her looks. She wants to contribute to society. Tony takes a phone call and Carly goes up to their bedroom. After she hangs the dress up, she starts to pretend to be Bobbie by holding up dresses, trying the perfume, putting jewelry on. Considering her usual thieving tendencies, this is fairly harmless, but when Bobbie catches her at it, she panics. Let me go, forget you ever knew me, this is no good, etc. Bobbie is puzzled, but figures there's got to be a guy at the bottom of it. They have a mother-daughter type chat. Carly's "boy on the side" is not working out that way, the hormones have kicked in. Bobbie soothes her tears and insists she take the dress and keep it to entice the young man. Downstairs a slightly dazed Carly tells Tony that she'd like to do something for Bobbie, like give her a birthday party. Tony tells Bobbie, later "that young woman has a crush on someone in this family, and it isn't me." In ICU at GH, Luke and Laura stare helplessly at Lesley Lu who desperate needs a bone marrow transplant and no donor has yet been found. Tony announces that neither he, Bobbie, Sly nor Jenny are matches. Carly, who was lurking in the doorway, offers to be tested. Before she is tested, Tony helps Carly with the paperwork. She is reluctant to give her social security number. Alone outside the room, Luke and Bobbie discuss finding Bobbie's daughter. Luke presses her to agree to continue the search. Bobbie still insists on keeping Tony in the dark about being a teenage mother. Later on, Bobbie tells Laura about the possibility of a matching donor if they can find the daughter she gave up for adoption 20 years ago. Laura listens dumfounded, tears streaming down her face, while Bobbie tells her tale of woe. They hug. Tony and Carly discuss her upcoming exam. Tony tells her that Bobbie creates the exam, that’s what that secret folder is. He leaves telling her not worry. Bobbie explains Lulu's latest illness and that a transplant is very important now. Bobbie and Luke discuss the baby and how she is scared if they find her as Carly listens in. Tony hands Carly a bunch of old tests. Later, at Jake's Pool Palace, Carly runs into Jason and apologizes for trying to pry into his life. She wants to have more than just a sexual relationship with him but when he declines further involvement she suggests they go upstairs and do what they do best. She gets up from the table and saunters toward the stairs; he gets up and fishes in his jeans for some money to pay for his beer. He's just turning to follow her out of the room when Robin enters the joint. He forgets Carly and turns all his attention to Robin. Carly watches them from the doorway. FOURTH OF JULY Carly kisses Jason, they wake up in bed together. "Thank you for the fireworks." She's upset that he never asks her to stay, and he points out they were her rules. There's a knock at the door: it's Robin. Carly hides. Robin has to go to the picnic with Uncle Mac instead of "riding out to the ocean" which they'll do tomorrow. She wants him to come to the park. After she leaves, Carly comes out laughing, but Jason tells her to shut up about Robin. She asks "Are you antisocial or did someone drop you on your head?" Mac and Katherine, Kevin & Lucy, and Robin gather at the park and as they talk about Jason, and Carly eavesdrops. Then they see Carly and bring her over, discussing the Nurses' Ball. Carly asks about Jason, then leaves. Carly catches Brian's volleyball. Then she catches sight of Jason, who has just come in. Both she and Robin greet him at the same time. Robin asks if they know each other, and Jason starts with "I guess..." but Carly says no, she just had seen him at the Nurses' Ball. Jason asks Robin if she and Carly are friends. Jason and Robin are sitting together. Behind them, Carly flirts with Brian. When Robin leaves to say hi to Tom and Felicia, Jason drags Carly over and cusses her out. Robin brings Jason ice cream. They decide to leave before the Quartermaines come. Carly is left alone, all alone. The fireworks start to a montage of couples: Tom and Felicia, Mac and Katherine, Kevin and Lucy, Carly huddled in a blanket, all alone. Jason and Robin are on the bridge. Carly tries to talk to Bobbie about her nurse's test score, and Bobbie rushing around oblivious to Carly's attempts to talk to her. Carly finally buttonholes Bobbie who posts the exam scores. Carly is a bit amazed that she didn't get a perfect score [remember she switched exams]. (Sonny has helped Luke locate Paiser, the lawyer who knows where Carly is from and Luke now has Caroline's home address). Luke tells Bobbie he's going to go check out the parents in Florida. As the lawyer leaves, Carly sees him and vice versa. Carly tries to call Felix Paiyser, the lawyer, but gets his answering machine. In chatting with Tony, Carly inadvertently refers to her mother, and Tony picks up on the inconsistency with her previous story that she didn't know her mother. Luke arrives at the address given him for Caroline Benson, Bobbie's daughter. Caroline's mother, Virgina Benson, opens the door. At first she doesn't want anything to do with Luke, and she seems angry with him. Finally he gets through to her and she opens up and tells him about her daughter, Caroline's childhood. Unfortunately she doesn't know where she is. Luke arrives back in PC, and is thrilled to hear that a donor has been found. Later, when talking to Luke, Bobbie finds out Caroline was raised by a single mother and breaks down. Luke says that Virginia was better able to take care of Caroline than a 16 year old would have been. He tells her that three years ago Caroline left Ft. Meyers owing money, which by Spencer logic is a good thing, she's a survivor, a true Spencer. Near the nurse's station in the lobby, Luke and Bobbie discuss his search for the adopted daughter with Carly eavesdropping like mad. After Luke leaves, Carly admits to listening in. Bobbie tells her how difficult it was to make the decision to give up her baby; she also tells Carly not to mention anything about the daughter to anyone...especially not to Tony. Jason is hiding outside of Kelly's watching someone. As the man he is following turns towards him, Carly conveniently walks out of Kelly's, and Jason pushes her against the wall and kisses her suddenly, to blend in or something. He tells her he needs a place to hide, and she is intrigued. She lets him use the phone and asks a lot of questions. Sonny tells him to wait ten minutes and he will set up a deal. Jason offers to leave if Carly is scared, and she says "who says I'm scared?" She says hiding out is one of her specialties, and they have a lot in common, reinventing themselves, and she tells him what she knows, which is his name, his room, his bed, and his job. She continues that he would drop her 'in a hot minute' for Robin Scorpio. He asks if that makes her mad. She asks him what he would feel if she did that to him. He said he'd be mad but he'd get over it. Carly says "I've been known to stay mad for over 20 years." Obviously about Bobbie putting her up for adoption. Silent scene as a group of GHers are gathered, Tom Hardy comes out and pulls Audrey aside (to tell her Steve has died). One by one, each of the staff hear about his death, this is all done without any words. An upset Carly goes back to Jason's wanting comfort. She is saddened by Steve's death, but more so that it overshadowed her success in getting into the nurse's program. Jason listens to her story, congratulates her on her achievement. Carly talks to Tony and gets invited to sit with the Joneses. Carly sees Jason and Robin together at the memorial for Steve. (I did not include the full memorial service as it really didn't involve Carly, I do have this complete episode for anyone who wants to see it). Carly waylays Tony at the Nurses' Station and tells him she's a bit worried about money. He refers a patient to her, and she's thrilled. First thing she does is tell Bobbie, who is not happy that Tony is not following procedure. Carly sees Jason and speaks to him, and just then Robin comes up looking for Alan. Carly pages Alan for her, and while Robin is seeing him, Carly talks to Jason. "Why does Robin always come first?" That's the way it is, Jason answers. "So you sleep with me, and she gets the roses? Put us together you have one whole girlfriend." "What's the problem? We have what we have and you picked it." He then says if the question is, does he like Carly, yes he does. Carly, "What is it about me? I mean, I could be walking down the street with Robin or just about anybody and we both fainted at the same time, people would drive over my limp body to bring her smelling salts." "Because," Jason responds, "You wouldn't faint. You'd be faking." Carly mentions there's one man who really likes her. Bobbie interrupts to give Carly a message for Tony. She'll be late to dinner and asks Carly to let Tony know. Robin's tests are good and we get the Public Service Information about how there's so much more information about HIV just even in the last year.Jason is pleased that his Dad is good for something. He hugs Robin, while Carly watches. Later, Carly "just misses" Tony, so he shows up at the Outback at the agreed-upon time. She shows up in a sexy short black dress. She invents a porno photographer who will meet her to give her enough money to continue with the Nurses' Program. Tony "talks her out of it." They are laughing together when Bobbie comes in and gives her the eye, she doesn't seem too happy to see Tony sitting with the attractive young Carly. Carly explains how she'd missed Tony at the hospital and came to deliver the message. "You could have called!" Bobbie huffs, not really buying this excuse. Carly and Tony are planning the party. She mentions again that she's having financial problems. Tony is thrilled with the present he got Bobbie. They hug (a friendly hug) and Bobbie sees them and doesn't look happy to see her husband hugging Carly. Bobbie has spent the night with Lulu, Carly says she looks so tired which just makes Bobbie's day. Then she thanks Bobbie for the teddy bear (who obviously knows nothing about the gift as Carly surely suspected). Later, Tony tells Bobbie she needs to take a break, and Bobbie wants to know "Do I look that bad?" She needs to review the Nurses' exams. They discuss Carly a bit. Tony thinks she's wonderful. The girl herself comes up with a message for Tony, who says as he's leaving that he will want to see them both later. Bobbie wants nothing more than to go home for a shower and to put her feet up. Carly either overheard or had incredible timing and stops by to talk Bobbie into doing her lecture instead of letting Amy sub for her. Tony comes up with a surprise for Carly. It's a savings book with her tuition. Bobbie is mightily offended by this, as it will be hard to be fair in her job as a supervisor. Bobbie questions Tony, "shouldn't you have checked with me first?" They begin a "discussion" but Tony says her trouble is she's tired. "Don't patronize me!" she snaps. He then tells her he's beginning to resent these deep dark secrets she has with Luke and Laura. Bobbie says she'll tell him, "meet me after class." They walk home, and on the steps she stops, she wants to tell Tony (whose main interest is getting the guest to the party!) He's taken aback, though, when he hears Laura had a son, "I just can't believe this. How's a guy live with the fact that his wife had a child with another man and never told him all these years?" Bobbie looks appalled. But Tony goes on, "I can't handle this. Not tonight, anyway." He then leads Bobbie into the brownstone, "SURPRISE!!!!" Bobbie is overwhelmed by her surprise birthday party and unexpectedly runs out to everyone's concern. Back at the party, Carly plays the hostess, while Tony obtusely sings her praises much to Bobbies growing annoyance. Amy privately voices to Bobbie her dislike for and distrust of Carly. Bobbie opens various presents. Lucy gives her a lifetime supply of Jax cosmetics, Monica a sexy negligee, Carly a framed picture of Bobbie, Tony, and Lucas at the Nurses Ball. Tony finally gives her his gift, a week's vacation [alone] at a great spa [read fat farm]. When Tony, again being incredibly dim, reveals it was Carly's idea, Bobbie stands up and announces let's hear it for Carly and storms out. Bobbie breaks up the party, and all the participants drift. Luke chastises Bobbie for talking to Stefan. She counters saying she didn't know who he was then claims she was upset and fires off a litany of complaints against Carly as reasons. Standing outside, Carly overhears her diatribe. A slight smirk crosses her lips. Carly is late to work, and Amy takes great glee in telling her she missed an OR procedure. Carly looks worried, but Amy tells her it was posted in the "Nurses' Study Hall" where Carly hasn't been either. "I have watched you target somebody for some thing and then manipulate your way into whatever it is you want that day. I am not impressed, nor am I fooled." Tony overhears this and stops Amy. There are minor explanations, and Tony tells Amy he must have missed the bit where someone died and left her in charge of supervising nurses. Tony tells Carly she should stand up for herself. Carly says he shouldn't be a neurosurgeon, he should be a motivational speaker. She wishes she'd heard nice stuff like this from her father. Tony asks her along to present-shop and to visit Leslie Lu. Tony asks her along to present-shop and to visit Leslie Lu. Carly was happy about that trip, she had a blast. They talk about him missing BJ. He asks her to "wild corndog day" at the cafeteria. She's horrified and suggests cooking a dinner herself. Tony and Carly come by bringing a present and radishes. The present from Tony and Bobbie (in absentia) is a doll. Lulu prefers the radishes, of course. When they leave, Laura says Carly is "interesting." Luke agrees. Carly insinuates herself into home-cooking a dinner for Tony. While in the brownstone kitchen, she flashes back to the conversation with Bobbie about how she gave up a daughter for adoption and about how Tony doesn't know anything about it. Carly is very sympathetic about his loss. Tony takes the bait and babbles on about B.J. and how much it still hurts, etc.; he's opening the old wound and manages to get himself upset all over again. Over dinner they joke about "bachelor" Tony. Carly goes into the living room and starts dancing around suggestively. They start to dance together and she yelps as he "dips" her. They get closer and start to kiss (on the LIPS), there's a fumbling at the door, they pull apart just in time as Bobbie enters the room. Carly heads for Jason's and lets herself in. She waits for him seductively on the bed. When he doesn't return, she takes a shower, wraps herself in a towel and continues to wait. He doesn't return that night (he spent it with Robin at the Q boat house). He finally comes in the next morning and turns down Carly's advances. She leaves in a huff. Carly and Tony bump into each other, literally, at the nurses' station. Carly is late for class, and rushes off. Tony flashes back to The Kiss. Later, Carly comes back to the nurses' station in time to hear Bobbie telling Luke about the picture of her daughter she has taped up in her locker. She berates Carly for missing a class and for being late for her shift. Carly tries to make an excuse, but Bobbie cuts her off. If Bobbie is paying her tuition, Carly is expected to show up on time. Tony sees Carly at the nurses' station again later. He figures they can't keep avoiding what happened. He apologizes; she tries to say that she wanted him to kiss her, but he stops her and asks that they pretend it never happened. Still later, Carly follows Bobbie into the nurses' locker room and notes the combination Bobbie dials to open her locker. Bobbie caresses her daughter's photo. Carly hides behind the door till Bobbie leaves. When the room is empty, she opens Bobbie's locker herself, and caresses the photo much as Bobbie did. Carly apologizes to Bobbie for interrupting. Bobbie has done so much for her. Bobbie snubs her. As Bobbie leaves, Carly asks: "By the way any luck finding that daughter of yours?" Carly joins Tony at the nurse’s station. Tony flashes back to their dancing and kiss. He makes a lame excuse about why he hasn't been around and she says she hopes it doesn't have to do with her. Tony says Carly is taking too much responsibility and that he was away at a conference for 3 days, no big deal, let's move on. Carly says she was worried but she didn't want to ask Bobbie where he was because she didn't want Bobbie to get suspicious. She says she feels awful about "that night" and the kiss and that they must have had a little too much wine. She says she understands if he wants to keep their distance, to which he replies that would put too much weight on what happened and he doesn't want to lose a friend. He asks what Carly's noticed about how Bobbie's been acting. Carly says she's been irritable and seems to have it in for Carly. Tony says Bobbie's probably just trying to overcompensate in being "fair" to Carly in the nursing program. Carly says she's probably being oversensitive and asks Tony not to mention the discussion to Bobbie. Gina introduces herself to Carly at Ruby's. Carly is less than interested in talking and looks upset. Gina asks if Carly's a friend of Robin's and says that most people treat her differently when they find out who she is. When she mentions that it has something to do with Robin's boyfriend, Carly is suddenly interested in listening. Not Jason of course, but "the one before that." "The one who gave her HIV?" Carly says, saying that everyone knows since she talked about it at the Nurse's Ball. Gina says Robin is really something and that she and Jason seem to be really close. She says they went away for the weekend and Carly seems surprised and upset. Gina has to go serve a customer. Upset, Carly calls Tony. She says she can't concentrate because she thinks she's going to lose Tony and Bobbie's friendship and that maybe she should go away and return the money he gave her for nursing school. Tony says she's not going anywhere and that he helped her because he wants her to become a good nurse. Carly says she appreciates the encouragement and support. Carly is studying anatomy at Kelly's. Tony comes in and sees her, and invites her to join him for breakfast. Luke walks in, finds them there. Carly decides to leave as she is afraid of Luke's wrath. She once overheard him tell Bobbie that he didn't trust her. She doesn't want to cause trouble for Tony, so she leaves for class. Carly, back at the hospital, is assigned a patient to monitor by Bobbie. She is to complete a mock chart on the patient's care. Later, when she tells Bobbie how much she likes her assigned patient, she is subjected to a gratuitous lecture on the need to care for everyone, not just favorites. Still later, Bobbie harshly criticizes Carly for failing to note her patient's noon medication, as Tony overhears. Later he asks Carly what's up. Then she goes into Jason's room and sees Jason and Robin hugging and starts to cry, and Tony sees this. Later he tracks her down at the nurse's station, where a still-upset Carly is dropping files and making a mess, and Tony tells her "You have a tender heart, and there's nothing wrong with that." He thinks she is sad for R&J as Robin is HIV+. He hugs her to make her feel better, and Bobbie sees it. Bobbie widens her eyes. Next day, Carly walks into Jason's hospital room to find Robin & Jason kissing again. She takes his vitals. He is irritated by the way she talks to Robin and rudely asks her to leave. Robin (who is oblivious to the undercurrents between them) is surprised by his rudeness. Carly knocks and walks into Jason's room at home (he has been released from the hospital). He isn't home so she lies on the bed to wait. Later, Jason comes into his room, and spots Carly's dress lying on the bed. She comes out of the shower clad in a towel and wants to welcome him back properly. He tells her no. "I don't want to have sex with you any more." "Wow, that's a show stopper, you and Little Bo Peep are finally getting it on?" She retorts. She points out that Robin won't be around. He tells her he doesn't want to be her boy on the side any more. She thinks he doesn't have blood running through his veins, he just has wires. She threatens to tell Robin about their affair. He says she won't get a chance that Robin is leaving town for college. Robin calls and leaves a message on Jason's machine about her going-away party that night. Carly smiles at him with knowledge of the opportunity. Carly shows up at Luke's Club for Robin's going away party. Funny moment when she is very impressed that Jason knows AJ Quartermaine (little does she know this is her future husband and father of her child!). Jason is nervous that Carly will ruin the party. He confronts her. The tension between them is obvious. Robin comes over and asks what is wrong. Carly coyly declares to Jason that they will have to tell Robin the truth! |
