DVD #5A  Tony is interrupted by one of the nuns, Lorraine is left visibly shaken. She calls Carly and tells her that Tony is suspicious but she thinks she "handled him". He walks up behind her and overhears this boast. Lorraine lies some more but this time Tony isn't believing any of it. Tony presses Lorraine for answers until she admits she knows a secret about his baby. Lorraine tells Tony she was with Carly when she had the sonogram at Mercy. Later, the nurse phones Carly's room at GH and warns her that Tony is coming her way under a full head of steam.  Carly concocts a plausible sounding story to explain to Tony why she lied about undergoing the sonogram. A. J. once again is generous to a fault, he tells Carly to go have her baby in peace and quiet with Tony by he side. They will worry about the paternity afterwards.

On Thanksgiving at the brownstone, Luke lets Tony and Carly in.  "Hello doc Bro ex-in-law" says Luke. "Carly."  Carly hands Luke the flowers she's carrying but drops them just before he gets them. There's an awkward pause.  Bobbie suggests they stay for dinner? Tony and Carly try to back out, with Luke saying in the background "they have reservations" which is a double meaning for sure.  Luke certainly has reservations!  Bobbie says they need to establish a precedent.  They will be having holidays together, the children will play together, they need to practice.  Tony and Carly give in. The bell rings, and it's Amy and Ruby.  Luke tries to talk Bobbie out of having Tony and Carly.  At dinner, Luke makes a toast.  It's just all so family and nice that Carly can't stand it and leaves the table.  Bobbie follows her.  Carly tells her she's really good at the holiday stuff. They have a bonding moment. Annabelle comes in, but Luke tells her Foster is "so over you, babe!" She has a soggy note from Edward, but all Luke can decipher is "Quartermaines thieves!"  "Well, Annabelle, tell us something we don't already know."

At Mercy Hospital, Carly demands that Lorraine come up with a sonogram of a boy baby that Carly can pass off as her own.  Lorraine reminds Carly that this is not Burger King, were she can always have it her way. Hasn't she heard that meesing with hospital records is against the rules?  "Not if you don't get caught," Carly answers sweetly.  Lorraine grudgingly agrees, but Carly owes her big time. Wouldn't you know Tony comes looking for Lorraine, and Carly hides behind a corner before he sees her. Tony tells Lorraine that he knows that she is playing games and wants to know the truth.  She tells him that she was hoping through Carly, that Tony could help her find a better job at GH.  Now Lorraine realizes that Carly's become a much nicer person through her relationship with Tony.  If only she could get a break like that.  Apparently Tony believes this and promises her an interview at GH before leaving. Carly emerges and falls all over herself thanking Lorraine, who snarls at her not to believe any of that guff she handed Tony.  Cause what she wants from Carly is a lot more than friendship, baby. Okay, okay, Carly promises and hightails it.

When Carly arives home, Tony announces that he found the sonogram in an old suitcase.  But guess what, Carly?  It doesn't show the baby's sex.  She stammers, "Oh, hmm, well, see honey..." Tony cuts her off.  He realizes that Lorraine has been lying to them but wonders why would she do that? Tony is fed-up and looking dangerously close to some kind of breaking point. Carly makes her usual promises and he leaves for work.

A. J. runs into Carly in the hall. They chat, amiably wary, and he ends up telling her that she reminds him of himself when he was drinking.  He'd take the blame for everything, but not the responsibility, how much blame and pain can one shoulder before something snaps? Carly leaves in a huff. Tony calls Loraine and asks her to come see him about a job at GH. Lorraine hurries over to GH after Tony suggests that they have a chat about her career prospects. Reminding the nurse that he's fully aware how her job at Mercy is hanging by a thread, Tony orders Lorraine to disclose everything she knows about his fiancee in return he will endorse her for a job at GH. Lorraine covers for Carly and gets indignant that he is looking for dirt on the woman he supposedly loves.

Carly runs into Jason. She is thrilled to see him. She gives him a hard time for moving and not telling her where he went. He explains that he is now living at Sonny's penthouse and gives her the number. He invites her to come to the party at Luke's on Monday night. She reminds him that Luke hates her. Em comes in and is surprised when Jason allows Carly to kiss him goodbye (a peck on the forehead). She says he only lets grandmother and Robin kiss him.

One night outside of Luke's club as Jason talks to Luke, we see the glare of headlights coming towards the group, and there is a sudden barrage of bullets from the parking lot.  Jason and Luke recoil, while the bodyguards take aim and return fire. Pete goes down, taking a fatal blow. The neon sign outside that says "Luke's" is blown out and as the firing continues, Nikolas lies on the ground, unmoving. Luke and Jason approach Nik, who has been shot and is bleeding from the neck.  There is blood oozing from his neck as Jason holds a cloth to Nik's throat.  The young Cassadine is choking on his own blood, gasping for air, it's a sickening sound. Carly and Tony are driving in their car, discussing the baby (he is distant and hard with her), when they hear the announcement about the shooting at Luke's. Carly is obviously affected by the news, while Tony keeps his eyes on the road, showing little response.

Nik has taken a bullet in the throat, and Jason says they need to get it out or Nik will suffocate from the blood.  He asks for something hollow like a pen.  Nik is suffering, grabbing at Jason's bloodstained shirt, while Mike and Luke try to steady him.  Luke asks Jason if he thinks the assailants were a carload of joyriders.  Morgan is certain they were looking for him. Luke sterilizes Jason's switchblade with the flame from his lighter. Jason is assuring the victim that it will be okay, while Luke takes hold of Nik's head and tells him to keep his eyes focused on Luke. Jason prepares to perform a tracheotomy. Carly is freaking out at the news report about the shooting, and tries to convince Tony to stop the car and take her to Luke's.  Tony wonders why she is getting so upset, and is surprised when she blurts out that it could be Jason who was hurt. Jason and Luke are waiting to see if the procedure has been successful, after a few long moments, Nikolas begins to breathe on his own. Everyone seems relieved, and Sarah rushes to his side. Nik is taken into the ambulance by the paramedics.

Tony tells Carly to get a grip, but she insists on taking her to Luke's. He says he'll call her from the emergency room, and that she should go home and be safe. She demands that he take her to GH with him.  They begin to argue, and she gets out of the car, telling him she'll hitchhike.  He accuses her of not thinking about the baby.  Carly argues that "Jason could be lying in a puddle of blood" and that if the tables were turned, Jason would be there for her.  Tony says "so what?", he's got family, people to take care of him. She claims Jason is her best friend in the world, and that Tony does not understand.  She tells him if it was her lying in a pool of blood that Tony would be too busy but Jason would be there for her. Tony demands she get in the car. He says he doesn't care where she winds up but she WILL get in the car NOW!  She gets in the car.

Carly arrives at the GH emergency room with Tony. She is sure Jason was shot, but Monica and Alan tell her that he is fine except for being arrested. Carly now wants to go to the PD to see Jason. Tony says no that it is too stressful for the baby. She says she is fine and the baby is fine. She points out that Jason is all alone since Robin is in Paris. He still refuses to take her so she says she will take a cab. He then bitterly accuses her of holding his baby hostage. Carly causes a scene at the precinct house as she shrilly accuses the police of persecuting Jason. Dara, fed up with the whole mess, releases Jason. Carly kisses him on the cheek as he leaves. Tony arrives at the PD to pick her up.

Lorraine assures Carly she covered for her during this last set-to with Tony. Carly tells Lorraine she is actually glad to see her. Lorraine is the one constant as the rest of her life spins out of control.  She can count on Lorraine to blackmail her for a job at GH! She tells Lorraine that she is her best friend at the moment, she knows all of her secrets. A. J. shows Carly a court order which gives him the right to conduct a paternity test the minute her baby is born. Carly wants to know what A. J. would do if he found out that baby was his?  Then what? Carly is shocked when he tells her he would want to raise his child. Carly rails at A. J.

Carly is puzzled to overhear Tony on the phone with Alexis. Claiming he was simply consulting with the hospital's attorney on a difficult case, Tony makes an excuse to avoid going home with his estranged fiancee. She begs him to come home. She tells him how much she loves him, more every day. As Carly begins choosing colors for the nursery, Tony announces that he's already withdrawn the bid on the new house. She is hurt that he would do so without telling her.  One more sign that her dreams are dying. He says he didn't think she was interested in the house. Then tells her that he lost interest. He blows her off, totally uninterested in even pretending to want to talk to her. Waiting for him in his office, Carly snoops through a packet that is delivered to him from Alexis and is devastated to discover that Tony has filed for sole custody of her unborn child. When he enters she throws the court papers in his face. Tony tells Carly he's leaving her because he can't tolerate any more of her lies. He tells her that the begining of the end of their relationship was when she stole the custody papers for Lucas and had them delivered to Bobbie. He admits he had "loved her". She is crushed when she realizes he is speaking in past tense. Her dreams for the future come fully crashing around her. Then he tells her the baby is better off with him than her (isn't this the same concerned father who wanted her to avoid stress till the baby was born?). He tells her he was planning on marrying her then divorcing her when the child was older.

Hurt, angry and scared, Carly informs Tony he has no claim on her baby because Jason is the man who impregnated her. She tells him her passionate affair with Jason  has been going on since the first day she hit town. Unable to believe her wild tale, Tony accuses Carly of sinking to incredible depths in her capacity for telling lies. Taunting Tony with stories of Jason's sexual prowess, Carly continues to embroider on her lie by claiming that she and her lover have been laughing at him behind his back for months on end. She reminds him of all the times he "walked in on them", actually innocent moments but Carly casts them as being caught like the time she was wearing only her robe, the time they were rolling around on the floor, when he walked in on them at the cabin. She is so convincing that he begins to believe her as he recalls the moments she embellishes, the doubt starts to enter.

A bedraggled Carly shows up at Jason's penthouse and interrupts a high-level mob meeting. After his other guests depart, Jason listens as Carly reveals that Bobbie is her biological mother and that she has no idea who fathered her own unborn child. Carly explains to Jason how she first started using Tony as a weapon to hurt Bobbie but made the mistake of falling in love. After Jason guesses the identity of the other man in her life, Carly admits how she drugged A. J. and made him believe that he had fallen off the wagon. Later, she drops her last bombshell and discloses that she named him as her child's father. Jason warns Carly that he'll only play along with her story until someone asks him directly if he made her pregnant.

Jason reminds Carly she'll have to find a new place to stay if his enemies make another attempt on his life. Tony comes to the penthouse and urges Jason not to let Carly manipulate him with her lies. Following another bitter quarrel with Tony, Carly thanks Jason for his loyalty and his silence. At the penthouse, an incensed A. J. reminds Carly he can prove that she's lying about her child's paternity by simply asking his brother for the truth. Carly informs A. J. that she and Jason began a sexual relationship shortly after she first hit town. A. J. doesn't believe her. He smugly tells her that she picked the wrong guy to back her up as Jason won't lie for her, that he doesn't know how! A. J. tries to convince jason that Carly is a liar and that helping her is dangerous. A. J. realizes Jason knows all about Carly drugging him and A. J. is hurt that Jason continues to help her. Jason says it is like someone lying bleeding on the ground that you would stop to help. Carly needs help and he intends to give it to her. A. J. warns him that if the baby is his that he will file for sole custody. Jason says he doesn't agree with what Carly did but she did it for the baby. Jason doesn't like both Tony and A. J. trying to take the baby from its mother like its a piece of property (similar to how the Q's have treated him).

When A. J. says Carly won't be a good mother that she is a liar, Jason retorts so is A. J. and the Q's. A. J. is disgusted by Jason's cold hearted responses. He doesn't understand how Jason could cheat on Robin with Carly. Jason doesn't really lie, he admits he slept with Carly he just doesn't say when. A. J. tells Jason that he finally gets that Jason is not his brother, that person is gone. Rather than being hurt, jason seems relieved.  After Jason confirms that he has in fact slept with Carly, an outraged A. J. accuses his brother of being too cold and heartless to care about anyone's feelings. A. J. vows not to let Jason anywhere near Carly's baby even if he does turn out to be the child's biological father.  Carly is upset to hear A. J. turning his back on Jason. She is sorry for dumping this mess on him. She wonders why he is being so good to her. He doesn't answer but says they will see a lawyer the next day (Jason has offered to pay all legal fees in a custody battle). He tells her that there was no proof for a lot of what she did. he says he doesn't want to talk about it anymore tonight and takes her out to play pool where she proceeds to beat him.
At Jason's, Carly noted that the place could use a little holiday cheer, as well as real food. Jason told her where to find some cash. As he was getting ready to leave, Carly felt a small twinge and wrote it off to impending motherhood.

At the annual Christmas party at GH, Dave Koz leads all the girls and boys into the party. Jason and Carly nearly stopped the party dead when they got off the elevator, but festivites resumed when Santa got off the next elevator (although Santa Tony was taken a little aback himself). Carly ran into Bobbie in the hallway. She invited Bobbie to call her a slut now and have done with it. Entirely on the defensive, Carly went ahead and made the worst of herself before Bobbie could really get any words in. What Nurse Spencer did squeeze in was that she actually had taken Carly's side in the custody argument (pre-Jason, anyway), but Carly was really in too defensive a mode for this bit of info to sink in. Back at the penthouse, Jason came home to find that Carly had completely redecorated the place, courtesy of Wyndhams.  Carly went on to describe that exchange, and asked Jason how she could have been so shallow, to do all the horrible things she did for someone (Tony) who turned out to be so disposable for her. Mr. Koz  played "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," which brought us into a montage of: Sarah, in tears. Nik, sullen, in bed. Stefan, outside, in black, in the snow being approached and cuddled by Katherine, in white. Carly, opening Jason's brown-bag gift, a key chain engraved "Caroline"  with a key to the penthouse on it, Jason, on his balcony, looking sensitively studly. Brenda and Jax, decorating her tree and cuddling.

Carly and Jason return from seeing a family lawyer where they arranged for Jason's name to be put on the birth certificate. They go over all the possible witnesses to her drugging of A. J.. Jason says the only real witness, the bartender, has decided to "relocate." A. J. comes to see Carly, and they bicker once again about the baby.  A. J. says he wants to ask Jason specifically *when* Jason slept with her.  Eventually, she has him tossed out. Carly awakens and ominously finds she is spotting blood. Carly in severe distress drags herself downstairs calling out for Jason. Alone and in pain at the bottom of the stairs, she rationalizes, "Maybe it's better this way. Carly crawls downstairs to get to the phone, but collapses before she makes the call.  Jason returns from the dust-up with Jax to find her. He carries her out the door as he calls for  Renaldo. Carly is brought into ER and Jason explains how he found her. He asks Bobbie to stay with her as she is wheeled away. The doctor expains that a caesarian will have to be performed to save mom and baby.

In the OR, Carly is hysterical.  "Don't let them take my baby," she begs Bobbie. Things look grim as Jason gazes through the window. The operation is performed and the baby is delivered, it's a boy! Bobbie holds him as Carly's heart suddenly stops.  As the doctors rush to jump-start it, Bobbie demands "Don't you dare leave this baby without a mother. Don't you dare!" Bobbie explains to a worried Jason that Carly's son may need lifesaving surgery.  The doctor tells Jason that Carly is bleeding so badly with DIC and wants to do a hysterectomy. Bobbie overhears and and interrupts, "No! You can't do that to her!" She demands that Jason doesn't authorize it. Bobbie explains that she woke up and had had a hysterectomy without her consent and they can't do that to Carly. Bobbie insists that they try platelet infusion first. Jason agrees with her. Bobbie once again keeps watch over Carly. Later Bobbie updates Jason that the platelet infusion is so far working. Jason promises that when Carly wakes up that he will be sure she knows that she is okay because of Bobbie's advice. An irate Tony arrives and wants to know why no one told him Carly was having the baby! Bobbie insists she left him a message. He demands to know the condition of "his son" as Jason grimly watches him. Tony tells Jason that if he wants to play hero to Carly that is fine but he isn't needed in Tony's son's life. Jason tells him that he isn't going any where and the child is Carly's! Bobbie tries to intervene, Tony tells her he no longer cares about being appropriate, that all he cares about is protecting his child from his mother and her friends.

The doctor chooses that moment to come out and tell Jason that there is a problem with his son. Tony immediately jumps in and begins debating the medical options, Tony is against surgery for the baby. The doctor is surprised that Tony is against surgery to close the PDA. Jason interrupts and asks about the surgery and how it works. Tony stops him and condesendingly states that this is a medical decision and Jason is in WAY over his head. Jason retorts that nothing is going to be done to that boy unless he says so!
The confused doctor says the decision is between the him and the baby's father. Tony insists that HE is the baby's father. Jason sarcastically asks if Tony wants the baby to die while he waits for a paternity test? Tony insists that Jason is not competent to make life and death decisions. The doctor defends Jason's rights by informing that Jason's name is on the baby's birth certificate and that is all of the competence he needs! Monica overhears this last statement as she enters and realizes Carly's baby has been born.

#5B  After conferring with Monica, Jason opted for the baby to have surgery, against Tony's wishes. The surgery was successful and Tony was saddened to learn that the baby's blood type ruled him out as the father. The Quartermaines learned that Jason's child had been born and the family converged on the hospital.  Luke continued to wrestle with his conscience over whether or not to tell Bobbie that the baby was actually her grandson.  An angry Luke then stopped the Quartermaine's public wrangling over the baby's future.  Dara sang "God Bless the Child" to music montage of scenes: A. J. and Keesha danced in the moonlight, Stefan & Katherine,.Luke watching over Carly as she sleeps, Q's and Jason watching over Michael, assorted New Year's Eve celebrations.

When Carly wakes up, Jason told Carly that the baby's heart defect had been corrected through surgery, but Carly blamed herself for the baby's medical crisis.  Carly feels trapped, Bobbie wants her to go see her son. She promises that Carly will be filled with love for her son. Carly asks if that is how Bobbie felt when her baby was born. Bobbie's eyes fill with tears as she describes her all too brief moments with her baby daughter. Carly saw her baby boy for the first time and she broke down at the sight of the fragile infant. Carly angrily snaps at Bobbie when the nurse suggests that she'll soon be able to breast feed her baby. Tony is desperate to know and asks Bobbie to check the baby's blood type. Later she sympathetically tells him that the baby's blood type rules him out as the child's father.

When a sobbing Carly spits out her hatred for him, Tony assures her that the feeling is mutual. Carly's doctor diagnoses her with post-partum depression but assures her patient that her condition is very treatable. Later, Carly tries to get close to touch her baby but again withdraws her hands and bolts from the nursery in tears. Carly disguises her shock when A. J. states that he now knows that Jason is the father of her son. After explaining to Jason where A. J. made his mistake (that because the newborn shares Jason's blood type, he assumed that Jason was the father), Carly asks him to take care of the baby while she disappears. A music montage to scenes of Luke looking in at Carly's empty hospital bed, Carly shown in an airplane, Jason tenatively stroking the baby's hand, Robin showing up at Brenda's door (Jax has brought her home from Paris). Sweet moment as Luke visits his great nephew in the nursery. After finding Luke in the hospital nursery, Jason tells his business partner he knows all about the secret connection between Carly and the Spencer clan. When Lorraine makes an appearance at GH, Jason warns Carly's blackmailer to go away and never come back. Luke contemplates his options in light of Carly's disappearance and decides to let his sister know that she is a grandmother. After Jason advises him to keep mum until Carly returns, Luke agrees to wait one month before he tells Bobbie the truth.

As the baby is about to be released from the hospital, he holds the boy for the first time. Before he leaves with the baby, Bobbie instructs Jason on how to feed his son. Marjorie, the social worker, pays an unannounced home visit at the penthouse and is taken aback to find both Bobbie and Emily playing surrogate mother for Carly's baby. After Marjorie departs, Jason thanks Bobbie for warning him that the social worker was on her way over to spy on them.

The day of Michael's baptism, Jason explains to an impressed Bobbie how he defines faith in God. Bobbie shyly asks Jason for permission to dress the baby in Lucas' christening gown.  As the ceremony begins, Jason is pleased to see Robin slipping into one of the pews at the back of the church. When the Quartermaines suddenly arrive en masse, however, a scowling Jason motions his armed bodyguards forward and Justus warns his family that they'll go to jail if they attempt to touch the baby.  Promising to keep the rest of the family silent and in line, Lila sweetly asks permission to stay for the ceremony and Jason reluctantly gives his consent. There are readings by Emily and Bobbie. All appears to be going smoothly despite some muttering from Edward. The chaotic christening is interrupted yet again when Marino and several of his goons stroll into the church. Jason and Justus greet Marino; he expresses his respect for Jason and desire to discuss Jason's truce overture. After ascertaining that his "competitor" has simply come to pay his respects, Jason asks the priest to continue with the ritual. Jason announces the child's name will be Michael after Sonny. Mike is touched but the Quartermaines are outraged.  Things grind to a halt as people mill around bickering, and the choir singing louder and louder. Finally, Jason has had enough and orders them out, but Robin takes Jason outside for a talk. She argues that he allow them to stay since they do have a right as family. As little Michael is finally baptized ith Emily and Mike as godparents, The audience looks on with mixed emotions.  Jason turns around to present the baby to the assemblage and discovers that Carly is standing in the doorway.

After handing off baby Michael to his godmother (Bobbie), Jason approaches Carly and encourages her to step forward but she insists on slipping into a back pew instead for the remainder of the ceremony. As the baptism concludes, Monica icily advises Carly to vanish again before she wreaks havoc in the lives of any more innocent bystanders. Meanwhile, Edward vows to find a way to wrench the baby away from Jason and rename him with a moniker more befitting a Quartermaine. Jason and Carly catch up but she still can't bring herself to hold the baby.  The priest announces a reception later, but Jason makes it clear that the Qs, after crashing the baptism, they are not invited. As Jason invites Marino to come to the reception, Bobbie talks Carly into allowing the Quartermaines to attend as well. Edward snarls at Jason's treatment, but Lila puts him in his place.  Later, at the penthouse, Carly nervously avoids handling her infant son as the guests file in for Michael's party. A. J. loses no time in sidling up to Carly. He tells her how Jason pulled a gun on them when the Qs tried to "persuade" him to leave the baby with them.  Carly sneers at him thatJason was bluffing, because he knew they would back down. A. J. commends her and Jason for being so in tune, Jason doesn't care that she drugged A. J. and she doesn't care that Jason pulled a gun.  Only what happens when they turn on each other, or worse yet, on the baby? Their voices rise and Jason comes over, telling A. J. to beat it. "Sure, Jase," A. J. answers coolly. After the party, Carly says goodnight and makes to go to bed. Jason holds little Michael and begins having a little private conversationwith him, while Carly, hiding in the background, looks on with a mixture of guilt and longing.

Bobbie drops by the penthouse and finds Carly studiously avoiding even looking at her own baby. Carly bristles when Bobbie attempts to dispense some advice on child-rearing. Later, Bobbie urges Jason to force Carly to hold her son for the first time but he insists that Michael's mother be allowed to deal with her fears in her own way and in her own time.  Carly wonders if her inability to hold her own child means she is truly devoid of any maternal instinct. Annoyed when Carly treats Bobbie rudely, Jason reminds his houseguest that Michael's nurse deserves respect for the assistance she's been giving them. Later, Bobbie catches Carly in an unguarded moment as she stands over her son's crib.

Virginia Benson, Carly's adoptive mother, arrives in Port Charles to surprise Bobbie with an unannounced visit. Virginia heads to the hotel lounge after checking in and introduces herself to Tony when she finds him occupying the adjacent barstool. Meanwhile, Carly is holding the blue baby blanket and flashes back to Bobbie holding Michael and Carly not taking the baby.  There's a knock on the door and it's Bobbie.  Bobbie is surprised that Jason took the baby out. Carly asks her if Monica is hiding in the hall. Bobbie asks if Carly has held her baby yet?  Carly gets snotty and asks Bobbie to go home.  Bobbie tries to tell her there's help. Carly says she was partying in Florida all month.  Bobbie says mothering is not a job you can just leave.  Carly bitterly informs Bobbie she doesn't want her coming around anymore with her condescending attitude and hypocritical advice on how to be the perfect parent. Bobbie says Michael needs a woman's love, and post-partum depression can be treated. Carly blows up, "YOU gave your baby away!" Bobbie tells her about Caroline's birth.  She tells about her perfect baby while Carly, behind her, cries.  Bobbie tells about counting the baby's fingers and toes, and then having her taken away. There's never been a day she hasn't thought about her. "Honor the reality next time you want to bludgeon me with what an awful mother I am... if that makes me a bad mother in your eyes, I guess I'll find a way to live with that, too." Bobbie suggests lighting candles if the power goes out.  Carly announces, "Bobbie, I want my baby."

As the blizzard closes roads and knocks out power all over town, many of Port Charles' residents find themselves stranded at the hotel. Caught up in the camaraderie engendered in the blackout, Virginia rattles on to Tony about her daughter's wonderful life (he has no clue that Caroline is Carly). Filled with a sudden yearning to cuddle with her son, Carly is grateful when Bobbie offers to brave the blizzard and drive her to the hotel. Passing the time playing cards with Mike, Jason is annoyed to suddenly find himself surrounded on all sides by Quartermaines. Bobbie's car slides into a snow bank, stranding her and Carly on the side of the road.  Carly and Bobbie manage to walk the rest of the way to the PC Grill.  She tells Jason she's there for her son. Bobbie hands the baby to Carly who is apprehensive at first but slowly begins to bond with him. As she holds her baby, Carly is moved by the moment to the point of telling Bobbie that she's her daughter Caroline.  Bobbie looks at her uncomprehending the magnitude of what Carly's telling her.

"It's true," Carly tells a stunned Bobbie. "I'm your daughter." Bobbie's joyful tears from seeing Micheal at last reunited with his mom are still glistening in her eyes.  Her face turns stony with shock.  "Jason, please take the baby," she murmurs. Everyone is there, the Qs, Keesha, Robin, all watching in stunned silence as Jason carries the baby off.  "You're diabolical," Bobbie tells her.  Was this whole set up tonight just another step in Carly's plan to destroy Bobbie's life?  "You're relentless.  Like the plague."  Carly has softened (at least temporarily), why would she lie?  It just seemed like the perfect time, after Bobbie has helped her hold her son, to tell her that she has a daughter and a grandson. Carly tells her that she never knew how to get what she wanted without fighting dirty.  When she first came to PC she didn't know what she was looking for. She realizes that she should have told Bobbie the truth at the very start.  Carly's sorry for everything she's done, and wants to make it up to Bobbie now.  "My little girl is dead, all right?"  Bobbie cries bitterly.  "She's dead!"

"I'm not the only one who lied to you," Carly answers. (Luke is the one who told Bobbie that her daughter, Caroline, was dead).

A seething Bobbie accuses Carly of sinking to new depths to hurt her with yet another terrible lie.  Carly tries again to convince Bobbie that she's on the level about the bond which ties them. She apologizes for not telling her sooner. She says she was angry at Bobbie for abandoning her. She thanks Bobbie for helping her to connect to her son, Michael. Bobbie isn't believing any of this, as she turns to walk away, Carly grabs her hand. Bobbie flashes back to her baby girl holding her hand. Tony enters, and Bobbie shares the news with him.  Tony believes Carly, he says it answers a lot of questions about why Carly entered the nurse's program when she was obviously so unsuited for it. He goes through a list of Carly's actions since she first came to town. It all makes sense to Tony. Now he knows it was never about him but about Carly sleeping with her mother's husband.

Virginia Benson, Carly's adoptive mother, enters the bar. Bobbie's jaw drops when Virginia walks in and hurries over to embrace Carly, calling her " Caroline". Bobbie realizes Carly is telling the truth. Virginia  happily introduces Bobbie to her biological daughter. With Carly's bizarre story now confirmed, Bobbie bitterly calls the girl a bitch and accuses her of sending for her adoptive mother. As a baffled Virginia wonders what's going on, Carly is forced to admit how she came to Port Charles two years ago to find Bobbie. Virginia berates her daughter for trying to destroy Bobbie's life, then reels in shock yet again when Tony informs her that she has a grandson. Tony continues that while she was sleeping in his baby, she had a baby with another man. Carly and Virgina sit quietly at a table to talk privately. Carly raves to her how everything has worked out, she lives in a beautiful penthouse, how wonderful her baby is, how great the baby's father is and how much Virigina will like him. Carly assures her the lies are all over now, the truth is out and Virginia can be part of her life. Her hurt mother can't believe that Carly thinks they can just pick up as if nothing has happened, after she has kept the truth about her life secret for almost two years. Virinia asks if she is going to take any responsibility for her actions? She broke up a marriage, deceived Virginia, and kept the existence of her grandchild from her, and now she thinks it is all okay now that she told the truth for one night?

Tony walks up, thrilled that Carly is getting her comeuppance but snarks, "I don't think guilt is a word in Carly's vocabulary!" He tells Virginia about the baby's heart defect, how Carly abandoned him when he was in ICU, that the father is a gun totting criminal and she left her son alone with him for almost a month! As Tony calls her a tramp, Carly turns to Virgina and says, "See this is the man I took away from Bobbie?" She tells her mother that she hurt them, but they hurt her too, that both Bobbie and Tony treated her like dirt since she arrived. Carly demands that just once Virginia take her side, that since Frank (her adoptive father) walked out on Virgina that she has blamed Carly for that and everything else. She can't believe her mother is going to take the word of two total strangers over hers? She admits that she doesn't like Tony, but she does like Bobbie. Carly yells at Virgina to just go. Virgina gets up but collapses on the floor of the Grill.

Bobbie heads to Wyndemere and demands to know if Stefan knew that Carly was his daughter? He did and admits that he capitalized on her husband's infidelity. She asks why he didn't tell her? He says that when they married, he didn't need to tell her and didn't want to hurt her. After they broke up, it served no purpose. He snarks that the rumors of her daughter's death were greatly exaggerated, by her brother! Stefan gleefully reveals that Luke was a pivotal part of the lie and the cover-up concerning Carly and Luke also knew the truth. Bobbie heads to Luke's house and sits in the dark waiting for him to come home. When he does, she tells him that Lucky is dead. As he looks at her in shock, she coldly asks him how that feels to hear his child is dead? Bobbie bitterly reveals that she knows he lied about her daughter's "fatal" car accident, Luke attempts to explain why he hid the truth about Carly's true identity to protect her from further pain. Bobbie promises a shaken Luke that she will never forgive him for what he's done.

At GH, Monica wakes a sleeping Carly and tells her if she wants to see her mother that she should come now. The doctor informs a weeping Carly that Virginia did not survive her second stroke.  Sitting by her mother's body, Carly fears she's lost the one person in the world who loved her unconditionally despite all her flaws.  After venting part of her rage on Keesha, Carly turns her anger on Tony and accuses him of killing Virginia. As a desolate Carly stands at the elevator, when it opens she comes face to face with Luke!
