Characters have got to eat. Simple fact of life I'm afraid and since we are not able yet to conjure food and drink out of thin air, your characters are going to need to eat. The vast majority of foods are considered to be common, as is drink, there is no need to write a post every time your character has breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is considered that most of the time, your characters will be eating onboard ship and thus the Black Zero's food supply will be appropriately deducted every day until it's time to restock her (The Black Zero's food supplies are bought with ship funds). 10 credits will buy enough food to keep character alive for a week in normal ship supplies and the ship can carry enough supplies for all ten crew to keep going for 30 days. So when ever we restock the Black Zero, it's going to cost us somewhere in the region of 3000 credits to feed you all. Yes, that's a big bill, so we better make sure we earn enough credits to cover it else you will end up having to buy your own food. After all, the ships account is also needed to pay for docking fees, upgrades, fuel etc...

Costs of Eating out

Off course, on occasion, your character may wish dine seperately to the ship itself, deciding to go to a restaraunt, eat out at a pub, order a take away. After all, the food that is used for ships supplies is rather bland and it is nice to treat oneself every now and then. This all costs money and what follows is a general cost of how much food and drink will cost from various places.

Take Aways: Costs about 5-10 credits a person depending on how much is ordered. Add another two credits for delivery if you want it delivered (a lot of Take Away services will deliver to ships in Star Ports, in fact some starports even have take away services built into them for this express purpose).

Cafe: Lunch or Breakfast at a Cafe will cost you around 3-8 credits and this will include your food and a cup of tea or coffee or the equivilant. Additional drinks will cost around 0.5 credits.

Restaraunts: Now this all depends on what type you go to. A general cheap eatery will set you back around 15-20 credits for a meal and a drink, with additional drinks of wine, coffee, tea or other alcoholic beverage costing an additional 2 credits. A slightly more mediocre and up class restaraunt (the sort you would go to say for special occasions) will set you back anywhere from 30-40 credits for a meal and a drink, additional drinks costing 3 credits. For the best top class restaraunts (the ones with real strict dress codes and where even the Katani bouncer wears a suit) will set you back around a heft 70-100 credits for a meal and expect each drink you purchase in addition to the one with you meal to be coming in at around 5 credits each.

Pub Food: Many pubs will also do bar meals, some only at certain times, others will do it around the clock. A typical pub meal will cost you around 5-10 credits and that is not including the cost of the drink. The cost of drinks in various pubs varies depending on location (see below).

Nightclubs: A few nightclubs also do food as well. They tend to charge around about the same as Pubs do only the amount of food you order will be a lot less. Most Nightclubs however do not do food, they don't like the idea of people eating on the dance floor.

Alcohol

Lets face it, alcohol is big business in some places. Not on all planets is alcohol legal, but most have legalised it and where it is legal, alcohol is big business. Onboard ship, we do not supply you with alochol, so if you want alcohol of your own, your going to need to buy it yourself from an off licence.

Below is a chart which shows the typical costs of alcohol throughout the galaxy for various places and this is followed by a description of what each type of place mentioned is like. Don't forget, the more alcolhol you drink, the more tipsy you become. If you continue to drink, you will become quite intoxicated and drunk and should you continue on even further, well, I think every one knows the consequences.

Yes, Alcohol is a drug as well and in some sense, it should be listed in the Narcotics section of the pricing guide instead of here, but it is also a drink and thus it has been felt it deserves a whole section to itself, especially as whole communities can be built up around it. There are also Cannabis bars in some parts of the galaxy as well where you can get served with Cannabis instead of Alcohol, but this is rarer and dealt with in the Narcotics section.

Types of Drinking Establishment

Off licence: Here you can buy drinks to take away only. Some large supermarkets also have their own off licence section as well as there being smaller independant off licences. Everything here will come in bottles or cans.

Out of Town Pub: These pubs tend to have quite relaxed atmospheres, located outside of city centres, sometimes far into the country side. Peope come here for a day out, to chill and unwind and have a good pub meal with a pint.

Inner City Pub: These are for the shopper who wants a quick drink doing the day, city workers needing a drink after a hard days work or for people who intend to go nightclubbing later in the night and need somewhere to begin drinking and have good conversation before they get to drunk to hear one another at the clubs later. Usually, inner city pubs are more expensive than out of town pubs, but you can usually find some good deals like buy one get one free, or happy hours going on many inner city pubs.

Workers Club / Social Clubs: For the veteran drinker. This establishment usually is much cheaper than other places but the regulars tend to be rather clicky and view new comers suspiciousily. Most will require you to be a member or to come with a member before letting you in.

Nightclubs: A nightclub is place where people go to drink, dance and do the other things normally associated with youthful times. The prices are much higher and you usually have to pay to get in, but because people have usually been drinking before they get there, by the time they reach a nighclub they don't care. People go to particular nightclubs due to their style, whether it be the way the club is designed or more likely because of the music they play and whether one is on the pull or not.

Types of Drink

Larger, Ale, Cider: These are all served either by the pint or in a can or bottle. These are the sort of drink you take your time over unless you are a harden drinker, socialising with other people as you do so.

Alcopops: A cross between alcohol and fizzy pop, these pleasant tasty drinkings are just as strong as Larger, Ale or Cider, but tend to be drunk quicker than those types due to their nice taste.

Soft Drinks: Any non-alcoholic drink such as cola, lemonade, squash, juice etc... Many planets try to promote safe driving / flying and usually give discount to designated drivers / pilots on these drinks.

Spirits: Drunken in small quantities, these can be mixed with soft drinkers and sipped at or sometimes one will buy them just to down in one go. Very strong, usually given in small quantities called a shot. Examples include but are not limited to Whiskey, Brandy, Rum, Vodka and Tequila.

Potent Spirits: Potent Spirits tend to be banned in many places due to their strength but some places do sell them. They are even stronger than normal spirits and the taste is usually very harsh and one that does require some aquiring. Examples include things like Raqi.

Fancy Spirits: This is just an ordinary spirit but served with something mixed in of an unusual nature. Some places sell these to attract customers in and one can find all manner of bizarre combinations such as chocolate vodka or chilli tequila.

Wine: A more upper class drink, meant to be sipped at, it's strength lies somewhere between that of Largers, Ales and Ciders and that of spirits. Comes in a variety of forms and flavours, from dry to sweet, white to red, parsnip to vine. It is not recommended to mix wine with other drinks as it does tend to react together badly.

AA (or Anti-Alcohol): Not an alcoholic drink at all but quite the opposite. AA is a drink that works in the opposite to Alcohol. Quite vile to drink, it has the ability to quite quickly sober a person up though taking just a single shot of it is likened to a male being kicked quite hard between the legs. Usually one shot is enough to sober most people up, though those particular to far gone may need more.

Bar Snacks: In addition to Bar Meals, a lot of places sell a variety of small packeted foods like peanuts and crisps for people to much on while they have a drink. These are quite cleverly designed though to also make you more thirsty and thus want to drink more.
