The greatest action/adventure series of all time returns in this sprawling adventure, returning to Nosgoth with Raziel to finally find out what happened to turn it into such a wasteland, and to find out if all our waiting had been worth it.
In my opinion at least, it has been worth it, and then some! Better graphics, gameplay, and a better storyline put this just ahead of its predecessor.
Yes, I know the story is the same as the last game, but in this one you have plot twists and treachery, where as in the last game you had killing people and not even knowing why. In this game, there is the agonising wait to see if Kain really is a good guy or not, where as in the last game we hardly saw Kain at all.
I'm not saying the last game wasn't interesting, on the contrary, it was one of the most enjoyable games ever, a large improvement on the Blood Omen game. But, there was not really a story to it. Yes, a Vampire had been cast down by his master and brought back to life to wreak a terrible revenge, but why? Thankfully, the sequel ties up all of the gaps in the first game, and gives you a hell of a lot more to think about as well.

And, as many of the fans have come to realise over the years waiting for this game, it was all supposed to be in the first game. Yes, that's right, all of this was intended to be in the first game. But, that would have meant delaying its arrival by several years, so the developers decided to seperate it into two games.
That was probably the smartest thing they have done in the series because it raised anticipation by a lot.
Fans were screaming to find out what happened after Raziel entered the time portal, and were still reeling about the, frankly, rip-off of an ending from the first game.
I shouldn't really tell you what happens at the end of Soul Reaver, because you might not have played it for some reason, and I would be spoiling the story for you, but I can say that it was possibly the biggest let down in history.
And also, we see an awful lot more of the Elder God, Kain and Moebius, whilst finding out about Raziels History, and the long forgotten history of Nosgoth in huge environments with extremely detailed and origonal enemies to kill.

LENGTH 5/10
The game, as they say, burns brightly, but not as long as we'd like. It takes a good few hours to complete, but it could have lasted so much longer without us losing interest at all. Still, I hope that there will be a sequel, because the ending sure leaves a path for a hell of a lot more in the series.
