Registration of the Magic User

Within the Confederation, all spellbinders, magic users, sorcerers, wizards, mages, and other individuals capable of casting, binding, weaving, or otherwise performing Arcane Magic << Magic Users, Specialist Magic Users, and Bards in the AD&D 2nd Edition rules >> must be registered with the goverment of the Confederation.

The Star of Magic Those who are registered are marked with a special tattoo, shown at right. This tattoo is magical in nature and cannot be duplicated by forgery. The roster of all tattooed and registered spellbinders is kept by the Imperial Mages Guild, and all registered individuals are granted the rights and priveleges of an Apprentice of the Imperial Mages Academy.

Once registered, a spellbinder has the following rights and responsibilities:

  • A registered mage is (in theory, if not 100% in practice) free from persecution and free from the fear of the masses.
  • A registered mage may use the libraries and laboratories of the IMG for research and study purposes (see the Goods & Services pricelist).
  • A registered mage may enroll in classes in the Academy .
  • A registered mage may learn spells in the Academy (see the Goods & Services pricelist).
  • A registered mage represents the forces of Law & Order within the Confederation, and is seen by many as a representative of the Emperor himself. The mage should act accordingly
  • A registered mage must uphold the Law at all times, especially the Laws regarding Magic and the Use of Magic.
