The Imperial Academy of Magi

The classes and curriculum offered in the main Academy Hall in Coopersville Forge.

Registered spellbinders, and full Guild members may attend courses in the capitol. Each class at the Academy has a standard duration of 2 months, and the required fee must be paid in advance. Basic Courses typically cost 25 gold per month (this cost is multiplied by the character experience level). The standard curriculum includes the following skills.

Using the optional training rules presented in the DMG the time taken to learn a new proficiency requires a minimum period of time equal to 19 minus the character's Wisdom in weeks, per Non-Weapon Proficiency slot required by the skill. This basically means that anyone with wisdom of 9 or more will be able to have the opportunity to learn what a one NWP class offers in the course time allowed. Even if the student possessed a higher wisdom he must still attend the entire class before making his first roll. At the end of the class, the character makes a check of Intelligence or Wisdom, whichever is higher. If the check is successful, the lessons have been learned and the character gains the proficiency. If the check is failed, the character must spend another week studying with a tutor, the tutors fee is 10gp per week. At the end of this time, another check is made, with a cumulative +1 bonus per extra week spent. Multiple courses may be taken but a cumulative -1 penalty is applied for each roll. Individual tutors can be arranged to teach a student on request. The full course fee must be paid up front as well as paying the tutor fee of 10gp/week. The tutor will allow the student to progress at his own rate and most students often learn a lot quicker this way.
