The Charter and Goal of the Imperial Mages
Protect the Confederation
The first duty of the Imperial Mage is to the Confederation. In times of War or Emergency, the Imperial Mages Guild will provide the military forces of the Brand throne with personnel trained in the Art of Magic. In time of Peace, representatives of the Imperial Mages Guild will serve as assistants, advisors, and ambassadors in each of the Realms.
Protect the Populace
The Imperial Mages Guild has the authority to police the use of Magic in all realms of the Confederation, with the exception of Edilar, the Elven homeland. The Imperial Mages Guild works hand-in-hand with the Order of the Sword and other constabulary bodies when they require magical assistance, or when they encounter evidence of magic within their jurisdiction. The Imperial Mages Guild has judicial authority over all magic use within the Confederation, all known apprentice magi, all Guild members, and those secret practitioners of the Art uncovered by investigation.
Protect the Ars Magica
Spellbinders, sorcerers, wizards, mages, and all other individuals capable of the summoning, binding, weaving, or casting of arcane magics must be registered with the government of the Confederation. The roster of these individuals is held by the Imperial Mages Guild. All registered individuals are granted rights and priveleges as an apprentice member of the Imperial Mages Academy. Membership within the Guild grants further rights and priveleges. The Imperial Mages Guild trains individuals in the Art of Magic, the Research of Magic, the Use of Magic, and the Knowledge of Magic. The Imperial Mages Guild seeks to instill in its members the Wisdom to use the Ars Magica effectively, efficiently, and safely. The Imperial Mages Guild also works toward educating the general populace, that the citizens of Thardferr may recognize the weilder of magic as an ally rather than an enemy.
