Paul created this beautiful rendition of the logo of the Hooper Street firehouse while he was assigned to Ladder 119, which he painted on the apparatus floor in front of the kitchen. Understandably, as it was in a high traffic area, over time some of the paint wore off.

In December 2002, Kirsten Campbell, from Pratt Art Institute, which is located a short distance from the Hooper Street firehouse, volunteered to restore Paul’s artwork. Kirsten was assisted by Patrick, one of her art students.

Paul's sense of humor is evident in the slight change he made from the official logo of Hooper Street: the firefighters from the Engine Companies always jokingly complain that the firefighters on the Ladder Trucks step on the hoses. Paul added a hose to the logo and, if you look carefully, you can see that he painted the Lions’ feet stepping on the hose.
