Useless Books
There are, unfortunately, books that are totally usless and only worth the value you can get in a store. I've made the mistake of wasting money on these. Some of them may serve a purpose and slowing these are being moved to other places.

Quest Books
Cat's Paw Magazine
In New Reno Miss Kitty will give you a quest to find 10 issues. She offers you $500 and you can earn 1,000 xp. She will also give you the rare Cat's Paw Issue #5 with an article about Energy Weapons.(Flick at the Den supposedly has an unlimited supply, but I don't know for sure since I killed him to get more stuff early in the game.)
Cat's Paws Can be found:
- Klamath- Ouhouse behind the Golden Gecko
- Klamath- Dunton Brothers, barter or steal
- Klamath- Girl at the Bathhouse
- Den- Flick; barter, kill, or steal
- Vault City- in Cassidy's Bar
- Raider's Base- in the iron safe (use dog tag #s to open)
- Raider's Base- footlocker at the bottom of the room
- Vault 15- lvl 2 desk
- Army Depot- lvl 2 back room desk
- Broken Hills- West Side, small pot in rightmost house (w/ fence)
- Stables- in Myron's back room, on shelf
- Navarro- Mainenance Shed, middle locker

The Lavender Flower
Becky of the Den asks you to retrieve this book from a guy named Derek. The book can be found in the east part of the Den usually in one of the graves. It may also be lying around that part of town by Metzger's place or the Hole.

The Official Fallout 2 Hintbook
I'm told that if you go visit Father Tully in New Reno after destroying the Enclave, he will give you a Fallout 2 Hintbook. It raises all skills to 300% and you gain 10,000 xp.
