Hello from China! Every now and then I forget where I am, but you can see in the Pearl Market area picture that you can still have a taste of the good ole USA - Papa John's, Kentucky Fried Cat, Mickey D's, or stay at a Holiday Inn...

Pearl Market Area

... Of course the KFC was quite disgusting, hence the name.

Our journal is blocked here (by China) and we can't access it, so sorry if I repeat myself. I can't remember if I told you, but when I was checking our visas to make sure they were correct before leaving for China, I noticed that Steve's passport was stamped on July 15, 2007 - the day he left China (when he was here this past summer). That is the day May Lee was born. We thought that that was pretty cool! Steve is watching James Bond in Chinese as I type. Yesterday we listened to VTV, China's version of MTV, and the music was pretty good... then Prince from the 1980s came on - hilarious, then Cher!

Yesterday we went to the Chen Family Temple. It was quite exquisite, the carvings are amazing! This is a picture of just a portion of the front roof, so you can just imagine the rest...

Chen Family Temple

... It had a pretty high threshold as wealthy people were allowed to have, to keep out the evil spirits, because they could only move two ways - by jumping or slithering. That night at dinner, Graham ordered shrimp and got prawns, full with their big eyeballs and all. I was proud of her as she tore them apart to eat them. At the 7-Eleven down the street from the hotel we see all kinds of yummy snacks like dried rooster claws and pig tongue, why throw that out?

Our little dishwasher is sleeping "soundly." She is so tiny, pictures just don't show. Her wrist is the size of Steve's thumb. She is the size of a newborn, 10 lbs. Well, we went to Yang Chun today, where May Lee is from. Three other families all went in to charter a bus to see the city and orphanage - BUT THIS IS ON THE DOWN-LOW.

Bus Ride to Yang Chun

We got in contact with Sandra, the woman from New Zealand who moved to China about 17 years ago to take care of orphans. She met us for lunch and then allowed us to tour the House of Grace, the orphanage where our babies have been cared for.

Sandra at the House of Grace

It was such a great experience. We not only got to meet Sandra, who put the picture of us over May Lee's bed, but also her nanny, Ah Lee. When we saw Ah Lee, she reached out to hold May Lee, and I thought she'd love to see her, but when she held her May Lee cried and reached for me! Oh, it made me cry! Sandra said she's already made the switch and knows I am her mama. She has really grown in her personality and abilities already. She is smiling more and more each day and today in the bus she giggled out loud with Steve. Today was a good bonding time as we were in the bus for 9 hours round trip today. I had to shoot up several prayers to keep us safe, there were some scary moments. The bus driver was quite a character. He ate lunch with us and talked on the phone loudly most of the time while making various bodily noises. In fact we assume he has unlimited minutes, because he was on the phone nearly the whole 12 hours we were gone! He was our entertainment when we were bored. After the tour of the orphanage and seeing where May Lee slept - our picture had not been taken down yet from above her crib, we went to her finding location - the local bus station.

The kids stayed with Lou, Steve's mom, so they didn't have to endure the ride. We were all glad we went, and thankful we made it home safe! As you can tell, we were all tired on the way home...

Like Mother, Like Daughter

... Steve was having fun with the camera, and says May Lee looks more like me everyday!
