Lexington Christian Academy vs. Christian Academy of Louisville

Lexington Christian Academy continues their “Murderers Row” early schedule with a 14-12 victory over Christian Academy of Louisville to end the Centurions’ 18 game winning streak. LCA now has victories over Bowling Green, Pikeville, and CAL with a loss to Boyle County. This score was a little surprising as LCA came in averaging 41.7 ppg while CAL was scoring at a 42.0 ppg pace. LCA utilized an unconventional defense tonight with the defense seldom getting in a “down” stance and a lot of movement to at times stiffle the potent CAL offense which only recorded 27 yards on the ground. LCA led 14-6 late in the game but Cole Hodge hooked up with Justin Ruffin on a 60 yard scoring strike to pull CAL within two; 14-12 with 2:05 left in the game. CAL elected to go for the tie but Hodge’s pass was incomplete. The Centurions were not through and got the ball on a perfectly executed on side kick as Connor Hodge came up with the ball. Cole Hodge immediately went for the long ball but it was intercepted by Jackson Dillow to end the threat.

LCA recorded 14 first downs and 210 yards of total offense. The Eagles were penalized one times for 10 yards. CAL recorded 13 first downs and 308 yards of total offense. The Centurions were penalized twice for 10 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Brady Hensley continues roll up the yardage as he led LCA’s ground game with 131 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. Cutter Boley completed 10 of 23 passes for 64 yards. Saxton Howard caught five passes for 32 yards. Parker Chaney added three receptions for 15 yards. Isaac Collins punted four times for a 44.0 yard average with a long punt 61 yards with two punts inside the 20 yard line. Anderson Mitchell and Saxton Howard each returned a kickoff for 26 and 16 yards respectively. Major Brown led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards. Hunter Adams added five solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss. Mac Darland recorded four solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in an eight yard loss. Jackson Dillow intercepted a pass and Will Bivens recovered a fumble.

Cole Hodge led CAL’s ground game with 17 yards on nine carries. Cole Hodge completed 21 of 34 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Justin Ruffin caught eight passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Connor Hodge added six receptions for 57 yards. Justin Ruffin returned three kickoffs for 53 yards with a long return of 24 yards. Garyon Hobbs led the defense with 10 solo tackles. John Cobaugh added six solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a five yard loss. Darwin Cotton recorded six solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a one yard loss.
