Coppin State coach Michael Grant started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Mufaro Murinda, 6-4 Jr. Trevon Seymore, 6-8 Jr. Jerimyjah Batts, 6-2 Jr. Christian Kessee, and 6-4 Jr. Keith Shivers. Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-7 Sr. Jarelle Reischel, 6-7 Sr. Ja’Mill Powell, 6-9 Fr. Nick Mayo, 6-2 Jr. Isaac McGlone, and 6-5 Jr. Javontae Hawkins.
Eastern Kentucky University pulled away in the second half to defeat Coppin State by a score of 107-80. Eastern Kentucky shot 53.3% from the field including nine of 29 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 18 of 26 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 20 Coppin State turnovers. Coppin State shot 40.3% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 20 of 32 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Jarelle Reischel led Eastern Kentucky with 21 points including three three point baskets and three steals. Javontae Hawkins and Ja’Mill Powell added 19 and 18 points respectively. 6-7 So. Greg King chipped in with 11 points and Nick Mayo recorded 10 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Christian Kessee led Coppin State with 18 points. 6-0 Jr. James Sylvester added 17 points and eight rebounds. 6-8 Jr. Terry Harris recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds.
